Ball Joint Breakaway Torque (Stabilizer Ball Joint)

  1. After shaking the ball joint stud several times, install the nut to the stud and use Preload Socket (MB990326) to measure the breakaway torque of the ball joint. (Scheme 1)
  2. If the break away torque is more than 4.4-13.3 INCH lbs. (0.5-1.5 N.m), replace the stabilizer link. If the breakaway torque is less than 4.4-13.3 INCH lbs. (0.5-1.5 N.m), check that the ball joint turns smoothly without excessive play. If so, it si possible to reuse that ball joint.
