Note. Cylinder head bolts in positions 4, 7, 9 and 12 are 5" (127 mm) in length. Remaining bolts are 4.17" (106 mm) in length.
- To install, reverse removal procedure using NEW gaskets and NEW cylinder head bolts. Apply clean engine oil to bolt threads and seating surfaces of head. Ensure bolt washers are installed with chamfered edge facing away from head surface. Tighten NEW cylinder head bolts in sequence in 7 steps: Step 1: Tighten bolts to 22 ft. lbs. (29 N.m). Step 2: Tighten bolts to 43 ft. lbs. (59 N.m). Step 3: Loosen all bolts completely using loosening sequence. (Scheme 8) Step 4: Tighten bolts to 89 INCH lbs. (10 N.m).
- Install coolant crossover tube and lower radiator hose. Install and tighten bolts to specification. (Scheme 9) See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-11793-S41068807412000112900000).
- Install lower intake manifold gaskets. Position lower intake manifold into place. Install and tighten bolts and nuts in 3 steps in sequence. see scheme 3 Step 1: Tighten bolts to 35 INCH lbs. (4 N.m). Step 2: Tighten bolts to 13 ft. lbs. (18 N.m). Step 3: Tighten bolts to 13 ft. lbs. (18 N.m). Step 4: Loosen all bolts in sequence. see scheme 2
- Tighten cylinder head bolts in 3 stages in sequence. Step 1: Tighten bolts to 22 ft. lbs. (29 N.m). Step 2: Tighten bolts to 43 ft. lbs. (59 N.m). Step 3: Install bolt located at "A". (Scheme 10) Tighten bolt "A" to 89 INCH lbs. (10 N.m).
- Tighten lower intake manifold bolts and nuts in 3 stages in sequence. see scheme 3 Step 1: Tighten bolts to 35 INCH lbs. (4 N.m). Step 2: Tighten bolts to 80 INCH. lbs. (9 N.m). Step 3: Tighten bolts to 80 INCH. lbs. (9 N.m).
- To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Tighten bolts to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-11793-S41068807412000112900000).
