- Crank angle sensor signal (TD signal).
- Throttle position sensor.
- Intake air temperature sensor.
- Fuel injectors.
- Atmospheric pressure sensor.
- EGR and other emission components.
IDLE RPM HIGH WHEN WARM
Test the following
- Electronic accelerator actuator.
- Cruise control/idle speed control actuator.
- MAP sensor.
- Atmospheric pressure sensor.
- Air intake system.
- Emission systems.
IDLE RPM LOW WHEN WARM
Test the following
- Electronic accelerator actuator.
- Cruise control/idle speed control actuator.
- Air intake system.
- MAP sensor.
STALLING DURING WARM-UP
Test the following
- Air intake system.
- MAP sensor.
- Crank angle sensor signal (TD signal).
- Coolant temperature sensor.
- Throttle position sensor and other idle controls.
- Fuel supply.
- EGR control system.
STALLING AFTER WARM-UP
Test the following
- EGR control system.
- MAP sensor.
- Throttle position sensor.
- Crank angle sensor signal (TD signal).
- Vehicle speed sensor.
- Air intake system.
- Fuel supply system.
- Electronic accelerator actuator.
- Cruise control/idle speed control actuator.
LACK OF POWER
Test the following
- Brakes binding.
- Fuel supply.
- Emission controls.
- MAP sensor.
- Crank angle sensor signal (TD signal).
- Coolant temperature sensor.
- Atmospheric pressure sensor.
- Vehicle speed sensor.
- EZL/AKR ignition control unit (LH-SFI only).
- Knock sensors.
- Fuel injectors.
- Air intake system.
- EGR control system.
Intermittent Simulation
To reproduce the conditions creating an intermittent fault, use the following methods
- Lightly tap on or vibrate suspect component.
- Heat suspect component.
- Wiggle or bend wiring harness.
- Spray suspect component with water.
- Remove/apply vacuum source.
Monitor circuit/component voltage or resistance while simulating intermittent. If engine is running, monitor for self-diagnostic codes. Use test results to identify a faulty component or circuit.
