REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

  1. Remove the wheel and tire.
  2. Unclip the brake hose from the bracket.

Note. Install a new wheel bearing when the wheel hub is removed.

  1. Remove the brake disc. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION «FRONT BRAKE ROTOR»(ref-163516-S07194447242004070100000) for FRONT DISC BRAKE.
  2. Remove the wheel hub nut.
  3. Remove the tie rod end nut. Remove the cotter pin (2). Remove the nut (1).
  4. Using the special tool, separate the tie rod end from the knuckle.

  1. Remove the bolt and position the anti-lock brake sensor aside.
  2. Separate the lower ball joint from the wheel knuckle. Remove the pinch bolt. Separate the lower ball joint from the wheel knuckle.
  3. Using the special tool, separate the halfshaft from the wheel knuckle. Position the halfshaft aside and support.
  4. Remove the wheel knuckle. Remove the strut-to-wheel knuckle bolts. Remove the wheel knuckle.
  5. Using the special tool, press the wheel hub from the wheel bearing and knuckle. NOTE: This step may not be necessary if the inner wheel bearing race remains in the wheel knuckle, after removing the wheel hub.
  6. Using the special tool, press the inner wheel bearing race from the wheel hub.
  7. Remove the snap ring.
  8. Using the special tools, press the outer wheel bearing race from the wheel knuckle. NOTE: The brake disc shield is pressed on.
  9. If necessary, remove the brake disc shield.

  1. If necessary, install a disc brake shield. (Scheme 16)
  2. Using the special tool, install the wheel bearing into the wheel knuckle. NOTE: Special Tool 205-278 is not seen in place. It is located behind the wheel knuckle.
  3. Install the snap ring. (Scheme 14)
  4. Using the special tool, press the wheel hub into the wheel bearing.
  5. Install the wheel knuckle. Position the wheel knuckle. Install the strut-to-wheel knuckle bolts. (Scheme 11)
  6. Using the special tool, insert the halfshaft into the wheel hub.
  7. Install the pinch bolt into the wheel knuckle. (Scheme 9) Position and align the ball joint stud into the wheel knuckle.
