Engine Controls - Tests W/codes - 2.5L: Diagnosis Mazda MX-6 I

Accessing Trouble Codes

  1. Use Self-Diagnostic Checker (49 H018 9A1) and System Selector (49 B019 9A0) to retrieve trouble codes. Connect one lead of self-diagnostic checker to ground and the other to system selector. Connect system selector to data link connector. Connector is located near battery. (Схема №1) If system selector is not available, connect a jumper wire between data link connector terminals TEN and GND. See «PIN VOLTAGE CHARTS»(ref-18368) article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section for terminal identification.
  2. With ignition on and engine stopped, observe Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL). Note trouble codes. Check TROUBLE CODE IDENTIFICATION chart under CODE CHARTS for possible cause. If light remains on continuously, then either MIL circuit is grounded or PCME is defective.

Clearing Trouble Codes

Disconnect negative battery cable, and depress brake pedal for at least 20 seconds. Reconnect battery cable. Reconnect self-diagnostic checker and system selector. (Схема №1) Turn ignition on, but DO NOT start engine for 6 seconds. Start and run engine at 2000 RPM for 3 minutes. Verify no codes are displayed.

Note. Trouble Codes 6, 12, 14, 55, 56, 57, 58, 59, 60, 61, 62, 63, 64, 65 and 66 are automatic transmission-related problems. If codes are present, see TRANSMISSION SERVICE & REPAIR article.

Note. See PIN VOLTAGE CHARTS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section to identify PCME connector terminals.
