Inspection procedure

STEPINSPECTIONACTION
1INSPECT POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT OF DISCHARGE HEADLIGHT CONTROL MODULE Disconnect the discharge headlight control module connector. Turn the headlight switch to the HEADLIGHT (LO) position. Measure the voltage at discharge headlight control module terminal C (wiring harness-side). Is the voltage approx. 12 V ?YesGo to Step 6.
NoGo to the next step.
2INSPECT FUSE Turn the headlight switch to the OFF position. Remove the HEAD LOW R 15 A fuse (RH) or HEAD LOW L 15 A fuse (LH). Inspect the fuses. Are the fuses normal?YesGo to the next step.
NoReplace the fuse.
3INSPECT HEADLIGHT RELAY Remove the headlight relay. (See RELAY LOCATION ) Inspect the headlight relay. (See RELAY INSPECTION ) Is the headlight relay normal?YesGo to the next step.

5INSPECT WIRING HARNESS BETWEEN BATTERY AND DISCHARGE HEADLIGHT CONTROL MODULE Remove the battery cover. Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [LF] ) Inspect for continuity between the following terminals: Battery (positive terminal) and headlight relay (main fuse block terminal A) Headlight relay terminal 2C and HEAD LOW R 15 A fuse (RH) terminal U Headlight relay terminal 2C and HEAD LOW L 15 A fuse (LH) terminal U HEAD LOW R 15 A fuse (RH) terminal T and discharge headlight control module terminal C HEAD LOW L 15 A fuse (LH) terminal R and discharge headlight control module terminal C Are the wiring harnesses normal?YesGo to the next step.

6INSPECT WIRING HARNESS BETWEEN DISCHARGE HEADLIGHT CONTROL MODULE AND GROUND Inspect wiring harness between discharge headlight control module terminal F and ground for following: Short to power supply Open circuit Is the wiring harness normal?YesGo to the next step.
NoReplace the related wiring harness.
7VERIFY WHETHER MALFUNCTION IS IN DISCHARGE HEADLIGHT OR DISCHARGE HEADLIGHT CONTROL MODULE Install the discharge headlight (previously verified as illuminating normally). (See HEADLIGHT BULB REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ) Connect the discharge headlight control module connector. Turn the headlight switch to the HEADLIGHT (LO) position. Does the headlight (low-beam) illuminate?YesReplace the discharge headlight. (See HEADLIGHT BULB REMOVAL/INSTALLATION )

Scheme 3: PARKING/FRONT TURN LIGHT BULB REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
  1. Remove the battery cover.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See «BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [LF]»(ref-430294-S35932810402011101700000) )
  3. Remove the fasteners.
  4. Slightly bent back the mudguard.
  5. Disconnect the connector.
  6. Remove the socket, then remove the parking/front turn light bulb.
  7. Install in the reverse order of removal.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See «BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [LF]»(ref-430294-S35932810402011101700000) )
  2. Remove the fasteners, then slightly bend back the mudguard.
  3. Remove the screws shown in the illustration and remove the front fog light.
  4. Release the tabs shown in the illustration.
  5. Remove the front fog light hole cover from the front bumper by pulling the front fog light hole cover in the direction of the arrow in the illustration.
  6. Remove screws A and B, then remove the cover.
  7. Remove the screws shown in the illustration, and then remove the front side marker light.
  8. Set aside the hook and remove the cover from the front side marker light after removing the screws shown in the illustration.
  9. Install in the reverse order of removal.

  1. Remove the battery cover.

  7. Remove the front side marker light bulb.
  8. Install in the reverse order of removal.

  7. Remove the bolt and screw.
  8. Set aside the pin in the position shown in the illustration and remove the front fog light from the cover.
  9. Install in the reverse order of removal.

  1. Make a screen as shown in the illustration using double-weight, white paper.
  2. Adjust the tire pressure to the specification.
  3. Position the unloaded vehicle on a flat, level surface.
  4. Seat one person in the driver's seat.
  5. Line up the vehicle with the wall so that the center of the front fog light is 3 m {9.8 ft} away from the wall.
  6. Measure the height at the center of the front fog light. NOTE: Since the height of the vehicle varies depending on the vehicle situation, measure the height of the center of the front fog light using the actual vehicle.
  7. Align the center of the front fog light with the center of the screen.
  8. Block the light of the other front fog light using a partition.
  9. Start the engine so that the battery remains charged.
  10. Turn the front fog lights on.
  11. Verify that the brightness border line of the front fog light is at the position indicated on the adjustment screen. If the brightness border line is not at the position indicated on the adjustment screen, perform the following adjustment. Remove the adjustment bolt and cut the front fog light hole cover at the position shown in the illustration. Loosen the screw. Move the front fog light in the direction of the arrow shown in the illustration to adjust the brightness border line to the position indicated on the adjustment screen. Install the adjustment bolt and tighten the screw.

  1. Remove the battery cover.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See «BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [LF]»(ref-430294-S35932810402011101700000) )
  3. Remove the fasteners.
  4. Slightly bend back the mudguard.
  5. Disconnect the front fog light bulb connector.
  6. Rotate the front fog light bulb in the direction of the arrow shown in the illustration and remove it. CAUTION: A halogen bulb generates extremely high heat when it is illuminated. If the surface of the bulb is soiled, excessive heat will build up and the life of the bulb will be shortened. When handling the bulb, hold the flange, not the glass. Wipe off any finger prints before installation.
  7. Install in the reverse order of removal.

  1. Remove the battery cover.

  5. Remove in the order indicated in the illustration.

BACK-UP LIGHT SWITCH INSPECTION

  1. Remove the battery cover.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See «BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [LF]»(ref-430294-S35932810402011101700000) )
  3. Remove the back-up light switch (See «BACK-UP LIGHT SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [M15M-D]»(ref-430321-S24301149542011101700000) ) (See «BACK-UP LIGHT SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [P66M-D]»(ref-430322-S05456420472011101700000) )
  4. Verify that the continuity between the back-up light switch terminals is as indicated in the chart. If not as indicated in the chart, replace the back-up light switch.

LIGHT SWITCH INSPECTION

  1. Remove the battery cover.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See «BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [LF]»(ref-430294-S35932810402011101700000) )
  3. Remove the column cover. (See «COLUMN COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-430296-S08540555702011101700000) )

  5. Verify that the continuity between the light switch terminals is as indicated in the chart.

  1. If not as indicated in the chart, replace the light switch.

  1. Remove the battery cover.

FLASHER CONTROL MODULE INSPECTION

  1. Remove the flasher control module with the connector connected. (See «FLASHER CONTROL MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-430298-S41912907382011101700000) )
  2. Measure the voltage at each terminal is as indicated in the Terminal Voltage Tables. If the voltage or continuity is not as specified in the Terminal Voltage Table, inspect the parts under "Inspection item (s)". If the system does not work properly even though the parts or related wiring harnesses do not have any malfunction, replace the flasher control module.

If the voltage or continuity is not as specified in the Terminal Voltage Table, inspect the parts under "Inspection item (s)". If the system does not work properly even though the parts or related wiring harnesses do not have any malfunction, replace the DRL control module.

  1. Remove the battery cover.

  3. Insert a tape-wrapped fastener remover into the service hole and pry with the screwdriver in the direction shown in the illustration by the arrow to remove the lens.
  4. Remove the map light bulb

  6. Disconnect the connector.
  7. Install in the reverse order of removal.

MAP LIGHT INSPECTION

  1. Remove the battery cover.

  1. Remove the battery cover.

  4. Verify that the continuity between the trunk compartment light terminals is as indicated in the chart. If not as indicated in the chart, replace the trunk compartment light.

  1. Remove the battery cover.

  3. Insert a tape-wrapped fastener remover into the service hole and pry with the screwdriver in the direction shown by the arrow (1) in the illustration to remove the trunk compartment light.
  4. Disconnect the trunk compartment light connector.
  5. Remove the trunk compartment light bulb.
  6. Install in the reverse order of removal.

DOOR SWITCH INSPECTION

  1. Remove the battery cover.
