Removal & Installation: Removal & Installation Mazda MPV II

Disconnect negative battery cable. Drain cooling system. Replace shaft protector on crankshaft damper remover. Remove water pump drive belt by rotating belt tensioner clockwise to release tension. Remove water pump drive pulley using Puller Set (303-009 & 303-457). Remove thermostat case, water pump drive tensioner, oil cooler hose, water outlet pipe and water pump. (Scheme 24)

Installation

To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten bolts in sequence to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Fill and bleed cooling system. See COOLING SYSTEM BLEEDING .

Scheme 22

1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Drain engine oil. Remove front pipe. See «EXHAUST MANIFOLD»(ref-98839-S24681705142001053000000). Remove end plate cover.
2. Remove transaxle housing bolts from oil pan. Loosen oil pan bolts and studs in sequence, in several passes. see scheme 25

1. Install NEW gasket. Tighten retaining bolts to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-98839-S35879678022001053000000). Ensure sealing surfaces are clean. Apply bead of sealant to oil pan gasket at designated areas. see scheme 26 CAUTION: Before installing oil pan bolts, ensure oil pan bolts and cylinder block bolt holes are free of sealant. Cylinder block may crack if bolts are not cleaned before installation.
2. Install oil pan. Install bolts in sequence, and tighten to specification. see scheme 25 See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-98839-S35879678022001053000000). To install remaining components, reverse removal procedure. Fill crankcase with oil.
