DESCRIPTION

CAUTIONWhen battery is disconnected, radio will go into anti-theft protection mode. Obtain radio anti-theft protection code from owner prior to servicing vehicle.

Automatic A/C-heater is a thermostatic expansion valve type system. System can be automatically or manually controlled. Self-diagnostic feature stores present and past fault codes in A/C amplifier memory. Using a scan tool, codes can be retrieved for fault diagnosis. Blower case is mounted under right side of instrument panel. Evaporator case is mounted to left of blower case. Heater case is mounted to left of evaporator case.

Output Operation Check

All output devices are operated individually by A/C-heater system, according to 4 designated testing cycles. See OUTPUT OPERATION CHECK . These 4 steps test operating devices used for various A/C-heater system operating conditions.

  1. To enter output operation check, press AUTO switch while in present diagnostic test mode. This mode individually checks operation of each output device and circuit. Output operation check consists of 4 individual steps. (Scheme 9)
  2. Start output operation check with step No. 1, and then proceed through steps in numerical order. To advance to next step, press air intake selector switch. After reaching step No. 4, pressing air intake selector switch again will return to step No. 1 of output operation check.
