WINDOW MECHANISM

  1. Remove door trim panel and water shield. See «DOOR TRIM PANEL»(ref-143509-S04947812522002082700000).
  2. Lower glass approximately 3" from the full UP position.
  3. Loosen nut and washer assemblies and retaining the equalizer bracket to door inner panel. see scheme 9
  4. With the door open, place hands on each side of glass and pull glass fully into door glass run assembly at B-pillar.
  5. Tighten nut and washer. Apply downward pressure on the equalizer bracket and tighten nut and washer to 9-14 N.m (7-10 ft. lbs.).
  6. Cycle door glass to ensure proper functioning and door fit.
  7. Install water shield and trim panel.

SYMPTOM INDEX

Note. "Main switch/passenger's" refers to passenger's window switch on main switch. "Main switch/left rear" refers to left rear window switch on main switch. "Main switch/right rear" refers to right rear window switch on main switch.

MAIN SWITCH

Turn ignition off. Disconnect main switch connector. Check continuity between switch terminals with switch in specified position. (Scheme 8)or (Scheme 9). If continuity is not as specified, replace main switch.

POWER WINDOW MOTOR

  1. Disconnect the motor lead.
  2. Disconnect the regulator mechanism from the motor.
  3. Supply power to motor lead connector with an ammeter in series. (Scheme 10)
  4. Operate the motor and observe the current draw. The current draw for the no-load test should not exceed 4 amps and should not fluctuate. Reversal of the motor wire connections will reverse the direction of motor rotation. Replace the motor if the current draw exceeds 4 amps.

SUB-SWITCH

Check continuity across terminals of suspect sub-switch connector as specified. (Scheme 11)or (Scheme 12). Replace sub-switch if continuity is not as specified.

WARNINGWindow regulator is spring loaded to assist window motor during upward movement. Before separating window motor from regulator, securely position regulator arms in the full up position (if possible). This will relieve spring pressure as much as possible, preventing injury when window motor is separated from regulator.

POWER WINDOW SWITCH CONNECTOR WIRE

If replacement of the switch connector or a wire leading to the connector is necessary, the wire(s) can be removed from the connector without disassembling the connector. To remove a wire from the connector, insert a needle-like tool in the edge of the pin hole and bend the terminal in. (Scheme 13) Then, pull the wire and terminal from the connector. To install the terminal in connector, open the terminal and insert it into the wire hole..
