PRELIMINARY INSPECTION
Verify customer complaint by operating suspected system. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical and electrical damage. Inspect for blown fuses. For fuse identification. (Схема №1)
Inspect for loose or corroded connections, damaged wiring harnesses and/or switches. Check for a broken or partially broken wire inside insulation, which could cause system malfunction but prove good in a continuity/voltage check with system disconnected. Ensure any aftermarket electronic equipment is properly installed. If fault is found, repair as necessary. If no fault is found, diagnose by symptom. See SYMPTOM INDEX table under SYSTEM TESTS.
TEST A: ALL WINDOWS INOPERATIVE
- Turn ignition on. Check 30-amp power window fuse in fuse block, near left kick panel. If fuse is blown, replace fuse (repair wiring if necessary). If fuse is okay, go to next step.
- Check voltage at Black/Red wire terminal of main switch connector. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, repair Black/Red wire between fuse and main switch.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect main switch connector. Check continuity between ground and Black wire terminal of main switch connector. If there is continuity, check power window main switch (driver's side). See «MAIN SWITCH»(ref-143509-S12648847402003022800000) under COMPONENT TESTS. If there is no continuity, repair the harness (switch to body ground).
TEST B: DRIVER'S WINDOW INOPERATIVE, OTHER WINDOW(S) OKAY
- Turn ignition on. At main switch connector, check voltage at Green/Blue wire terminal (driver's switch in UP position), and Red/Blue wire terminal (driver's switch in DOWN position). If battery voltage is present at both terminals, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present at both terminals, replace main switch.
- At driver's window motor connector, check voltage at Green/Blue wire terminal (driver's switch in UP position), and Red/Blue wire terminal (driver's switch in DOWN position). If battery voltage is present at both terminals, replace window motor. If battery voltage is not present at both terminals, repair wiring between main switch and window motor.
TEST C: PASSENGER'S &/OR REAR WINDOWS INOPERATIVE USING MAIN SWITCH, OKAY USING SUB-SWITCHES
- Turn ignition on. Check voltage at the following wire terminals of main switch connector. If battery voltage is present at all terminals, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present at all terminals, replace main switch. Green/White wire (main switch/passenger's in UP position). Red/White wire (main switch/passenger's in DOWN position). On 626 only, Blue/White wire (main switch/left rear in UP position). On 626 only, Yellow/White wire (main switch/left rear in DOWN position). On 626 only, Green/Yellow wire (main switch/right rear in UP position). On 626 only, White/Red wire (main switch/right rear in DOWN position).
- Check voltage to each door power window switch connector (sub-switch connector) while operating main switch. If battery voltage is present at all terminals, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present at all terminals, repair wiring between main switch and sub-switch. Green/White wire (main switch/passenger's in UP position). Red/White wire (main switch/passenger's in DOWN position). On 626 only, Blue/White wire (main switch/left rear in UP position). On 626 only, Yellow/White wire (main switch/left rear in DOWN position). On 626 only, Blue/White wire (main switch/right rear in UP position). On 626 only, Yellow/White wire (main switch/right rear in DOWN position).
- Check voltage at the following wire terminals of sub-switch connectors. If battery voltage is present at all terminals, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present at all terminals, check sub-switch. See «SUB-SWITCH»(ref-143509-S08793338262003030300000) under COMPONENT TESTS. Red wire (main switch/passenger's in UP position). Green wire (main switch/passenger's in DOWN position).
- Check voltage at the following terminals of window motor connector while operating main switch. If battery voltage is present at all terminals, check motor. See «POWER WINDOW MOTOR»(ref-143509-S01181734722002082700000) under COMPONENT TESTS. If battery voltage is not present at all terminals, repair wiring between sub-switch and window motor. Red wire (main switch/passenger's in UP position). Green wire (main switch/passenger's in DOWN position).
TEST D: PASSENGER'S &/OR REAR WINDOWS INOPERATIVE USING SUB-SWITCHES, OKAY USING MAIN SWITCH
Turn ignition on. Turn main switch to on. Check voltage at Black/Blue wire terminal of sub-switch connector. If battery voltage is present, check sub-switch. See SUB-SWITCH under COMPONENT TESTS. If battery voltage is not present, repair wiring between fuse and sub-switch.
