Fitting Rings Mazda 626 GC

Mechanical 1 illustration ~146 words
  1. Insert piston ring into cylinder bore by hand and use head of piston to push ring squarely into bore. Using a feeler gauge, measure ring end gap. If gap fails to meet minimum, or exceeds maximum, replace rings.
  2. Place each piston ring, one at a time, in proper ring groove. With a feeler gauge, measure clearance between ring and piston ring land. If measurement varies from specifications, replace piston, unless ring is known to be the reason for clearance variation.

Removal

Place piston and rod assembly in a hydraulic press and press pin from piston and rod. Use Remover/Installer (49 G030 040).

Installation

Press Remover/Installer (49 G030 040) with a hydraulic press. Insert pin from the direction of the "F" mark on piston. Pin should go in until the lower end of the guide contacts the block. (Scheme 6)
