Cap Installation Note

CAUTIONAfter installing the cap, verify that there is no gap between the upper part of the cap and the bottom surface of the washer tank. Otherwise, water leakage could occur.

  4. Install in the reverse order of removal.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See «BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 2.0, MZR 2.5]»(ref-579330-S31782573982013100700000).)   2. Remove the front mudguard (RH). (See «FRONT MUDGUARD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-579341-S42819834192013100700000).)
  3. Disconnect the washer motor connector.
  4. After connecting washer motor terminal A to the positive battery terminal, and terminal B to the negative battery terminal, verify that washer fluid flows to the windshield washer hose. (Scheme 18): Identifying Washer Motor Connector Terminals If there is any malfunction, replace the washer motor.
  5. After connecting washer motor terminal B to the positive battery terminal, and terminal A to the negative battery terminal, verify that washer fluid flows to the rear washer hose.(5HB) If there is any malfunction, replace the washer motor.

  1. Remove the following parts: Windshield wiper arm and blade (See «WINDSHIELD WIPER ARM AND BLADE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-579338-S36386448362013100700000).) Front fender molding (See «COWL GRILLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-579341-S02671303742013100700000).) Cowl grille (See «COWL GRILLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-579341-S02671303742013100700000).)
  2. Remove the windshield washer hose from the windshield washer nozzle.
  3. Squeeze the tabs of the windshield washer nozzle.
  4. Pull the windshield washer nozzle out to remove it. (Scheme 19): Pulling Windshield Washer Nozzle
  5. Install in the reverse order of removal.

  2. Disconnect joint pipes, then remove windshield washer hose B, C and D.
  3. Remove the windshield washer hose B.
  4. Disconnect windshield washer hose C from the washer nozzle.
  5. Remove the windshield washer hose C.
  6. Disconnect windshield washer hose D from the washer nozzle.
  7. Remove the windshield washer hose D. (Scheme 20): Removing Windshield Washer Hose D
  8. Disconnect the windshield washer hose A from the windshield washer motor.
  9. Remove the clip A and B.
  10. Disconnect joint pipes, then remove windshield washer hose A.
  11. Remove the windshield washer hose A. (Scheme 21): Windshield Washer Hose A And Clip
  12. Install in the reverse order of removal.

  4. Remove the connector of the washer fluid-level sensor from the washer tank. (Scheme 22): Identifying Connector Of Washer Fluid-Level Sensor And Washer Tank
  5. Remove the washer fluid-level sensor.
  6. Remove the grommet.
  7. Install in the reverse order of removal.

  3. Verify that continuity between the washer fluid-level sensor terminals is as indicated in the table.   1. Turn off the rear wiper switch while operating the rear wiper motor, and then stop the rear wiper at the auto stop position.

  3. Disconnect the rear wiper motor connector. (Scheme 28): Identifying Rear Wiper Motor Connector Bolt With Torque Specifications
  4. Remove the bolts, then remove the rear wiper motor.
  5. Remove the outer bushing.
  6. Install in the reverse order of removal.

  3. Disconnect the rear wiper motor connector.
  4. Apply battery positive voltage to rear wiper motor connector terminal B, and connect terminals A and C to the ground.
  5. Verify that the rear wiper motor operates. (Scheme 29): Identifying Rear Wiper Motor Connector Terminals If there is any malfunction, replace the rear wiper motor.
  6. Disconnect the ground to the terminal A while the rear wiper is operating.
  7. Verify that the rear wiper stops in the auto stop position. If there is any malfunction, replace the rear wiper motor.

  3. Disconnect the rear washer hose.

  5. Install in the reverse order of removal.

  9. Remove the liftgate upper trim. (See «LIFTGATE UPPER TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-579335-S06689900982013100700000).)
  10. Partially peel back the grommet. (Scheme 35): Peeling Back Grommet
  11. Remove the bracket in the direction of the arrow (2) shown in the figure while pressing the bracket tabs in the direction of the arrow (1). (Scheme 36): Pressing Bracket Tabs
  12. Remove the rear washer hose C from clip H, I, J, K. (Scheme 37): Removing Rear Washer Hose C From Clip H, I, J, K
  13. Disconnect joint pipes and remove rear washer hose C.
  14. Disconnect check valve and remove rear washer hose C.
  15. Remove rear washer hose D from the rear washer nozzle.
  16. Install in the reverse order of removal.

  4. Remove the screws.
  5. Remove the wiper and washer switch.
  6. Install in the reverse order of removal.

  3. Verify that the resistance and continuity between the windshield wiper and washer switch terminals as indicated in the table. If the continuity is not as indicated in the table, or if the resistance is not within the Specifications, replace the windshield wiper and washer switch.   3. Verify that the continuity between the rear wiper and washer switch terminals is as indicated in the table. Rain Sensor Installation Note

CAUTIONIf the rate at which the rain sensor reflects or transmits infrared light between the rain sensor and the windshield, or through the protective sheet is changed, the rain sensor will determine that there is a malfunction in the rain detection function and stop auto wiper system control. Be careful of the following when installing the rain sensor: Do not reuse rain sensor protective sheet Do not touch rain sensor lens, rain sensor protective sheet, and sensor installation area on windshield with your finger Verify that there is no air bubble after installing rain sensor

  7. Verify that there is no air bubble between the windshield and the rain sensor.
