Initialization operation implemented and resetting to be performed

Note. If the AFS OFF indicator light continues to flash at 0.5 s intervals, the following malfunction can be considered. Repair or replace the malfunctioning area, then repeat the procedure from Step 1. (See TROUBLESHOOTING INDEX [AFS (ADAPTIVE FRONT LIGHTING SYSTEM)] .) With the normal completion of the headlight auto leveling system initial setting, the headlight leveling actuator operation can also be verified. If the headlight auto leveling system initial setting is completed normally, the headlight leveling actuator lowers from its current position for approx. 2 s and returns to its original position.

HEADLIGHT LEVELING ACTUATOR OPERATION INSPECTION

Note. This procedure is performed for verifying the headlight leveling actuator drive in the headlight auto leveling system. For vehicles without the headlight auto leveling system, perform the headlight leveling actuator inspection. (See HEADLIGHT LEVELING ACTUATOR INSPECTION .)

  1. Switch the ignition ON.
  2. Turn on the headlights.
  3. Connect terminals B (INIT) and J (GND) of the DLC-2 using a jumper wire. see scheme 132: Connecting DLC Terminals B And J (GND) Using Jumper Wire CAUTION: When connecting with the jumper wire, thoroughly verify what terminals are being connected to prevent a miss-connection.
  4. Verify that the headlight leveling actuator operates in the lower direction for approx. 2 s and returns to its original position. NOTE: The headlight leveling actuator operates after approx. 2 s from Step 3. CAUTION: If the headlight leveling actuator does not operate, it is possible that there is a malfunction in the headlight auto leveling system. Perform the malfunction diagnosis referring to the following: (See «NO.5 AUTO LEVELING DOES NOT ADJUST OPTICAL AXIS OF THE HEADLIGHTS FOR VEHICLE POSTURE [AFS (ADAPTIVE FRONT LIGHTING SYSTEM)]»(ref-520518-S13062494972013010300000).)
  5. Disconnect the jumper wire from DLC-2.
