1. Disconnect the selector lever component connector. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Remove the side wall. (See «SIDE WALL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-517497-S42051367322012121200000).) 2. Remove the selector lever component. Disconnect the interlock cable from the selector lever component. 3. Install in the reverse order of removal.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

3. Disconnect the selector cable from the upper transaxle bracket.

8. Remove in the order indicated in the figure.

1. Install the interlock cable to the key cylinder. Switch the ignition to ACC. Install the interlock cable end to the key cylinder.
2. Install the lock unit to the brake pedal. Align the slide pin with the marking of the lock unit. (Scheme 448): Aligning Slide Pin With Marking Of Lock Unit Insert a snap pin (or a round bar of 1.5 mm {0.059 in} diameter) into hole A with the slide pin inserted completely. (Scheme 449): Slide Pin, Brake Switch And Interlock Cable Insert the other snap pins through hole B and hole C. Replace the brake switch with a new one. (See «BRAKE PEDAL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-517456-S11542540532012121200000).) Install the lock unit to the brake pedal bracket. Rotate the slide pin 90° as shown in the figure and verify that the slide pin contacts the brake pedal stopper. (Scheme 451): Rotating Slide Pin 90° Clockwise Verify that the slide pin is aligned with the marking of the lock unit. 3. Install the interlock cable to the selector lever component. Verify that the selector lever is in the P position. Fit the interlock cable in the U-groove in the selector lever component. Press the lock piece to lock the interlock cable so that no load acts on the cable. (Scheme 453): Identifying Interlock Cable Lock And Unlock Position
4. Pull out the pin from the lock unit.
5. Verify that the interlock cable is properly installed. Inspect the operation of the shift mechanism. (See «SHIFT-LOCK SYSTEM INSPECTION»(ref-517496-S00763353642012121200000).)
