Removal and Installation

WARNINGAlways disconnect the battery ground cable at the battery when working on an evaporative emission (EVAP) system or fuel-related component. Highly flammable mixtures are always present and may be ignited. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious personal injury.
  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to «BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES»(ref-494597) .
  2. Disconnect the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) canister purge valve electrical connector.
  3. Disconnect the vapor tube-to-EVAP canister purge valve quick connect coupling. For additional information, refer to «FUEL SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION»(ref-494614) .
  4. Remove the bolts and the canister purge valve. Remove and discard the O-ring seal. To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
  5. To install, reverse the removal procedure. Use a new O-ring seal.
  6. Carry out the EVAPORATIVE EMISSION SYSTEM LEAK TEST. For additional information, refer to «EVAPORATIVE EMISSION SYSTEM LEAK TEST»(ref-494625-S27398455452012081400000) .

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to «JACKING & LIFTING»(ref-494560) .
  2. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to «BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES»(ref-494597) .
  3. Remove the 4 bolts, the 4 trim pins, the 2 push pins, and the Aero shield. To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
  4. Disconnect the EVAP canister vent solenoid electrical connector.
  5. Disconnect the fuel vapor tube-to-EVAP canister quick connect coupling. For additional information, refer to «FUEL SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION»(ref-494614) .
  6. Disconnect the fuel vapor tube assembly-to-EVAP canister quick connect coupling. For additional information, refer to «FUEL SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION»(ref-494614) .
  7. Disconnect the fuel vapor tube to the dust separator.
  8. Remove the 3 EVAP canister bolts. To install, tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
  9. Release the pin-type retainer and remove the EVAP canister.
  10. To install, reverse the removal procedure. Carry out the EVAPORATIVE EMISSION SYSTEM LEAK TEST. For additional information, refer to «EVAPORATIVE EMISSION SYSTEM LEAK TEST»(ref-494625-S27398455452012081400000) .

  6. Depress the tab and remove the EVAP canister vent solenoid/dust separator from the EVAP canister bracket.
  7. To install, reverse the removal procedure. Carry out the EVAPORATIVE EMISSION SYSTEM LEAK TEST. For additional information, refer to «EVAPORATIVE EMISSION SYSTEM LEAK TEST»(ref-494625-S27398455452012081400000) .

Note. The fuel vapor tube assembly is a 2 part assembly. One tube connects to the fuel tank and includes the fuel tank pressure sensor. Another tube connects to the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) canister. The 2 tubes are connected by a quick connect coupling.

Both fuel vapor tube assemblies

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to «JACKING & LIFTING»(ref-494560) .
  2. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to «BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES»(ref-494597) .
  3. Remove the 4 bolts, the 4 trim pins, the 2 push pins, and the Aero shield. To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in). Evaporative Emission (EVAP) canister fuel vapor tube assembly
  4. Disconnect the fuel tank fuel vapor tube-to-EVAP canister fuel vapor tube quick connect coupling. For additional information, refer to «FUEL SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION»(ref-494614) .
  5. Disconnect the EVAP canister fuel vapor tube-to-EVAP canister quick connect coupling. For additional information, refer to «FUEL SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION»(ref-494614) .
  6. Disconnect the EVAP canister fuel vapor tube from the fuel bundle retainers and remove the EVAP canister fuel vapor tube assembly. Fuel tank fuel vapor tube assembly
  7. Position the Powertrain Lift under the fuel tank.
  8. Remove the 4 fuel tank strap bolts and partially lower the fuel tank. To install, tighten to 35 Nm (26 lb-ft).
  9. Disconnect the Fuel Tank Pressure (FTP) sensor electrical connector.
  10. Disconnect the fuel tank fuel vapor tube-to-Evaporative Emission (EVAP) canister fuel vapor tube quick connect coupling. For additional information, refer to «FUEL SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION»(ref-494614) .
  11. Disconnect the fuel tank fuel vapor tube assembly-to-fuel pump module quick connect coupling. For additional information, refer to «FUEL SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION»(ref-494614) .
  12. Disconnect the fuel tank tube-to-fuel tank fuel vapor tube quick connect coupling. For additional information, refer to «FUEL SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION»(ref-494614) .
  13. Disconnect the fuel tank fuel vapor tube assembly from the retainers and remove the fuel tank fuel vapor tube assembly. Both fuel vapor tube assemblies
