Removal

Note. Prior to the replacement of the module, it is necessary to upload the module configuration information to the appropriate scan tool. This information must be downloaded into the new module after installation. For additional information, refer to MODULE CONFIGURATION . For vehicles without Intelligent Access (IA), verify at least 2 of the vehicle keys are available prior to carrying out this procedure.

1. Upload the module configuration information from the BCM into the scan tool. For additional information, refer to «MODULE CONFIGURATION»(ref-494552) .
2. Remove the driver door scuff plate.
3. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
4. Remove the harness pushpin from the BCM.
5. Remove the nut.
6. Lower the BCM (release the BCM from the 2 alignment holes).
7. Press the black tang inward to release the B+ connector from the BCM.
8. Remove the BCM.

Installation

All Vehicles

Note. If a new Remote Function Actuator (RFA) module is installed, verify at least 2 of the vehicle keys are available prior to carrying out this procedure.

Note. If a new Remote Function Actuator (RFA) module is installed, the ignition does not turn on until a parameter reset is performed and 2 keys are programmed.

1. Upload the module configuration information from the RFA module. For additional information, refer to «MODULE CONFIGURATION»(ref-494552) .
2. Remove the glove compartment. For additional information, refer to Instrument Panel - Exploded View in «INSTRUMENT PANEL AND CONSOLE»(ref-494598) .
3. Disconnect the RFA module electrical connectors.
4. Remove the 2 nuts and the RFA module.

1. Position the RFA module onto the studs and install the 2 nuts.
2. Connect the RFA module electrical connectors.
3. Install the glove compartment. For additional information, refer to Instrument Panel - Exploded View in «INSTRUMENT PANEL AND CONSOLE»(ref-494598) .
4. Carry out the parameter reset between the RFA module and the Body Control Module (BCM). For additional information, refer to Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) Parameter Reset in «ANTI-THEFT - PASSIVE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM (PATS)»(ref-494605) .
5. Program the Intelligent Access (IA) keys (minimum of 2) into the new RFA module. For additional information, refer to Key Programming Using Diagnostic Equipment in «ANTI-THEFT - PASSIVE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM (PATS)»(ref-494605) .
6. Turn the ignition ON.
7. Carry out the keyless entry keypad code reset. For additional information, refer to Keyless Entry Keypad Code Programming in «HANDLES, LOCKS, LATCHES AND ENTRY SYSTEMS»(ref-494609) .
8. Download the RFA module configuration information from the scan tool into the new RFA module. For additional information, refer to «MODULE CONFIGURATION»(ref-494552) .
9. Carry out the RFA module self-test to confirm all DTCs have been cleared.
