TROUBLE SHOOTING
Verify customer concern by operating windows to duplicate condition. Visually inspect the following components. If inspection reveals an obvious concern which can be easily serviced, correct malfunction before continuing inspection and verification. If no problems are found, go to SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM .
Mechanical
- Window alignment.
- Window mounting (regulator and bracket).
- Window frame interference.
- Window run weatherstrip.
Electrical
- Blown fuse(s).
- Damaged wiring harness.
- Loose or corroded connections.
- Damaged switches.
- Damaged window motor.
- Damaged Driver's Door Module (DDM).
- Damaged Front Electronic Module (FEM).
- Damaged Rear Electronic Module (REM).
SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM
Note. Before performing self-diagnostics, perform TROUBLE SHOOTING .
Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC), located under center of instrument panel. Using NGS tester, perform data link diagnostics test. See DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM in MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK - LS article. If NGS tester responds with CKT914, CKT915 or CKT70=ALL ECUS NO RESP/NOT EQUIP, repair module communications concern. See MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK - LS article. If NGS tester displays NO RESP/NOT EQUIP for Front Electronic Module (FEM), perform TEST A: NO COMMUNICATION WITH FRONT ELECTRONIC MODULE (FEM) under SYSTEM TESTS. If NGS tester displays NO RESP/NOT EQUIP for Rear Electronic Module (REM), perform TEST B: NO COMMUNICATIONS WITH REAR ELECTRONIC MODULE (REM) under SYSTEM TESTS. If NGS tester displays NO RESP/NOT EQUIP for Driver's Door Module (DDM), perform TEST C: NO COMMUNICATION WITH DRIVER'S DOOR MODULE (DDM) under SYSTEM TESTS.
If NGS tester responds with SYSTEM PASSED, retrieve and record continuous DTCs. Erase continuous DTCs. Using NGS tester, perform FEM, REM and DDM self-test(s). See MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK - LS article. Perform appropriate test in accordance with DTC retrieved. See DRIVER'S DOOR MODULE DTC INDEX , FRONT ELECTRONIC MODULE DTC INDEX and/or REAR ELECTRONIC MODULE DTC INDEX table(s). Codes listed in these tables are only for testing covered in this article. For complete DTC listing, see MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK - LS article. If no DTCs are retrieved, repair by symptom. See SYMPTOM INDEX table under SYSTEM TESTS.

REAR ELECTRONIC MODULE DTC INDEX
TEST A: NO COMMUNICATION WITH FRONT ELECTRONIC MODULE (FEM)
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect Front Electronic Module (FEM) harness connectors C201c and C201f. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between FEM 12-pin harness connector C201c terminal No. 6 (Orange/Green wire) and ground. (Scheme 1) Measure voltage between FEM 20-pin harness connector C201f terminal No. 1 (Orange/Yellow wire) and ground. (Scheme 2) If voltages are greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If any voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open in appropriate wire and retest system operation.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect FEM 17-pin harness connector C201a. Measure resistance between ground and Black/Red wires at FEM 17-pin harness connector C201a terminals No. 11, 13, 14 and 15. (Scheme 3) Measure resistance between FEM 12-pin harness connector C201c terminal No. 12 (Black/Red wire) and ground. If resistance are less than 5 ohms, repair module communications concern. See MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK - LS article. If any resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair appropriate Black/Red wire and retest system operation.

TEST B: NO COMMUNICATIONS WITH REAR ELECTRONIC MODULE (REM)
- Ensure ignition switch is in LOCK position. Disconnect Rear Electronic Module (REM) harness connectors C420c and C420d. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between REM 20-pin harness connector C420d terminal No. 3 (Orange/Black wire) and ground. (Scheme 4) If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open in Orange/Black wire and retest system operation.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect REM 22-pin harness connector C420b. Measure resistance between ground and Black wires at REM harness connectors C420c terminals No. 11, 12, 25 and 26. (Scheme 5) Measure resistance between REM 22-pin harness connector C420b terminal No. 12 (Black wire). (Scheme 6) Measure resistance between REM 26-pin harness connector C420c terminal No. 13 (Orange/Black wire) and ground. If resistances are less than 5 ohms, repair module communications concern. See MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK - LS article. If any resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in appropriate wire and retest system operation.

TEST C: NO COMMUNICATION WITH DRIVER'S DOOR MODULE (DDM)
- Ensure ignition switch is in LOCK position. Disconnect Driver's Door Module (DDM) 12-pin harness connector C501a. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between DDM 12-pin harness connector C501a terminal No. 11 (Orange/Blue wire) and ground. (Scheme 1) Measure voltage between DDM 12-pin harness connector C501a terminal No. 12 (Orange/Blue wire) and ground. If voltages are greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If any voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open in appropriate Orange/Blue wire and retest system operation.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Measure resistance between DDM 12-pin harness connector C501a terminal No. 7 (Brown/Blue wire) and ground. Measure resistance between DDM 12-pin harness connector C501a terminal No. 8 (Black/Orange wire) and ground. If resistances are less than 5 ohms, repair module communications concern. See MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK - LS article. If any resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in appropriate wire and retest system operation.
TEST D: ALL WINDOWS ARE INOPERATIVE FROM DRIVER'S CONTROL SWITCH
- Ensure ignition switch is in LOCK position. Disconnect driver's control switch 16-pin harness connector C504. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between driver's control switch 16-pin harness connector C504 terminal No. 9 (Yellow/Red wire) and ground. (Scheme 7) If voltage is greater than 6 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 6 volts, go to step 3.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove driver's control switch. Perform «DRIVER'S CONTROL SWITCH»(ref-5077-S12768584282000090800000) test under COMPONENT TESTS. If switch is okay, replace Driver's Door Module (DDM). If switch is faulty, replace driver's control switch.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect Driver's Door Module (DDM) 26-pin harness connector C501d. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between driver's control switch 16-pin harness connector C504 terminal No. 9 (Yellow/Red wire) and DDM 26-pin harness connector C501d terminal No. 12 (Yellow wire). (Scheme 5)and (Scheme 7). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace DDM. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Yellow/Red and/or Yellow wire and retest system operation.

TEST E: ALL PASSENGER'S WINDOWS ARE INOPERATIVE FROM PASSENGER'S CONTROL SWITCHES
Note. Rear Electronic Module (REM) supplies power to all 3 passenger's control switches. REM will remove power when a short to ground is sensed in any passenger's control switch, REM power output and/or related circuits. Power is restored to REM output circuit when ignition switch is cycled from OFF to RUN positions.
- Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). Using NGS tester, perform Front Electronic Module (FEM) self-test. If any DTCs are retrieved, see «FRONT ELECTRONIC MODULE DTC INDEX»(ref-5077-S02603599222000090800000) table under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If no DTCs are retrieved, go to next step.
- Using NGS tester, perform Rear Electronic Module (REM) self-test. If any DTCs are retrieved, see «REAR ELECTRONIC MODULE DTC INDEX»(ref-5077-S36305814182000090800000) table under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If no DTCs are retrieved, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect left rear control switch 6-pin harness connector C701. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between left rear control switch 6-pin harness connector C701 terminal No. 3 (Yellow/Blue wire) and ground. (Scheme 8) If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go to step 7.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect REM 22-pin harness connector C420b. Measure resistance between left rear control switch 6-pin harness connector C701 terminal No. 3 (Yellow/Blue wire) and REM 22-pin harness connector C420b terminal No. 5 (Yellow wire). (Scheme 6) If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Yellow or Yellow/Blue wire and retest system operation.
- Disconnect ALL passenger's control switch harness connectors. Measure resistance between REM 22-pin harness connector C420b terminal No. 5 (Yellow wire) and ground. If resistance is greater than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is less than 10 k/ohms, repair short to ground in Yellow wire and retest system operation.
- Remove all passenger's control switches. Perform «SINGLE SWITCHES»(ref-5077-S09587419122000090800000) test under COMPONENT TESTS. If switches are okay, replace REM and retest system operation. If any switch is faulty, replace appropriate switch(es) and retest system operation.
- Operate passenger's window to UP and DOWN positions using passenger's control switch. If passenger's front window operates correctly, go to step 10 If passenger's front window does not operate correctly, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove passenger's control switch. Perform «SINGLE SWITCHES»(ref-5077-S09587419122000090800000) test under COMPONENT TESTS. If switch is okay, go to next step. If switch is faulty, replace passenger's control switch and retest system operation.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect FEM 26-pin harness connector C201e. Measure resistance between passenger's control switch 6-pin harness connector C604 terminal No. 1 (White/Violet wire) and ground. (Scheme 8) Measure resistance between passenger's control switch 6-pin harness connector C604 terminal No. 2 (Gray/White wire) and ground. If resistances are greater than 10 k/ohms, replace FEM and retest system operation. If any resistance is less than 10 k/ohms, repair short to ground in appropriate wire and retest system operation.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Connect left rear control switch 6-pin harness connector C701. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Operate both rear windows to UP and DOWN positions. If both rear windows operate correctly, verify customer concern. See «SYMPTOM INDEX»(ref-5077-S28949593362000080300000) table. If windows do not operate correctly, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove left and right rear control switches. Perform «SINGLE SWITCHES»(ref-5077-S09587419122000090800000) test under COMPONENT TESTS. If both switches are okay, go to next step. If any switch is faulty, replace appropriate control switch(es) and retest system operation.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect REM harness connectors C420c and C420d. Measure resistance between right rear control switch 6-pin harness connector C801 terminal No. 1 (White wire) and ground. (Scheme 8) Measure resistance between right rear control switch 6-pin harness connector C801 terminal No. 2 (Gray wire) and ground. Measure resistance between left rear control switch 6-pin harness connector C701 terminal No. 1 (White/Blue wire) and ground. Measure resistance between left rear control switch 6-pin harness connector C701 terminal No. 2 (Gray/Violet wire) and ground. If resistances are greater than 10 k/ohms, replace REM and retest system operation. If any resistance is less than 10 k/ohms, repair short to ground in appropriate wire and retest system operation.

TEST F: DRIVER'S WINDOW INOPERATIVE
- Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). Using NGS tester, perform Driver's Door Module (DDM) self-test. If DTCs B1405 or B1408 are retrieved, go to next step. If neither DTC B1405 or B1408 is retrieved, go to step 4.
- Ensure ignition switch is in LOCK position. Remove driver's control switch. Perform «DRIVER'S CONTROL SWITCH»(ref-5077-S12768584282000090800000) test under COMPONENT TESTS. If switch is okay, go to next step. If switch is faulty, replace driver's control switch and retest system operation.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect DDM 26-pin harness connector C501d. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between driver's control switch 16-pin harness connector C504 terminal No. 6 (Yellow/Red wire) and ground. (Scheme 7) Measure voltage between driver's control switch 16-pin harness connector C504 terminal No. 7 (Yellow/Blue wire) and ground. If any voltage is greater than 10 volts, repair short to power in appropriate wire and go to step 6. If voltages are less than 10 volts, replace DDM and retest system operation.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Ensure NGS tester is properly connected. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using NGS tester, select DDM active command FRONT WINDOW CONTROL. Trigger DR UP to ON then OFF. Trigger DR DOWN to ON then OFF. If driver's window raises and lowers, go to next step. If driver's window does not raise and lower, go to step 9.
- Using NGS tester, monitor the DDM PIDs D_UP_SW and D_DN_SW while operating driver's control switch to UP and DOWN positions. If DDM PIDs agree with driver's control switch positions, replace DDM and retest system operation. If DDM PIDs do not agree with driver's control switch positions, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove driver's control switch. Perform «DRIVER'S CONTROL SWITCH»(ref-5077-S12768584282000090800000) test under COMPONENT TESTS. If switch is okay, go to next step. If switch is faulty, replace driver's control switch and retest system operation.
- Disconnect DDM 26-pin harness connector C501d. Measure resistance in Yellow/Red wire between driver's control switch 16-pin harness connector C504 terminal No. 6 and DDM 26-pin harness connector C501d terminal No. 20. (Scheme 5)and (Scheme 7). Measure resistance in Yellow/Blue wire between driver's control switch 16-pin harness connector C504 terminal No. 7 and DDM 26-pin harness connector C501d terminal No. 19. If resistances are less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If any resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in appropriate wire and retest system operation.
- Measure resistance between driver's control switch 16-pin harness connector C504 terminal No. 6 (Yellow/Red wire) and ground. Measure resistance between driver's control switch 16-pin harness connector C504 terminal No. 7 (Yellow/Blue wire) and ground. If resistances are greater than 10 k/ohms, replace DDM and retest system operation. If any resistance is less than 10 k/ohms, repair short to ground in appropriate wire and retest system operation.
- Turn ignitions switch to LOCK position. Remove fuse No. 420 (20-amp) from Battery Junction Box (BJB). Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between BJB fuse No. 420 input terminal and ground. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair BJB fuse No. 420 input circuit and retest system operation. See POWER DISTRIBUTION article in WIRING DIAGRAMS.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect driver's window motor harness connector C524. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using NGS tester, select DDM active command FRONT WINDOW CONTROL. Measure voltage between ground and White wire at driver's window motor harness connector C524 while triggering DR DOWN to ON. Record results. Measure voltage between ground and Yellow wire at driver's window motor harness connector C524 while triggering DR UP to ON. If voltages are greater than 10 volts when commanded ON, go to next step. If any voltage is less than 10 volts when commanded ON, go to step 12.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect DDM 4-pin harness connector C501b. Measure resistance between DDM 4-pin harness connector C501b terminal No. 3 (Black wire) and ground. (Scheme 9) If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace driver's window motor and retest system operation. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Black wire and retest system operation.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect DDM 4-pin harness connector C501b. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between DDM 4-pin harness connector C501b terminal No. 4 (Red wire) and ground. (Scheme 9) If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open in Red wire and retest system operation.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Measure resistance in White wire between driver's window motor harness connector C524 and DDM 4-pin harness connector C501b terminal No. 1. Measure resistance in Yellow wire between river's window motor harness connector C524 and DDM 4-pin harness connector C501b terminal No. 2. If resistances are less than 5 ohms, replace DDM and retest system operation. If any resistances is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in appropriate wire and retest system operation.

TEST G: PASSENGER'S WINDOW INOPERATIVE FROM DRIVER'S & PASSENGER'S CONTROL SWITCHES
- Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). Using NGS tester, perform Driver's Door Module (DDM) self-test. If DDM DTCs are retrieved, see «DRIVER'S DOOR MODULE DTC INDEX»(ref-5077-S36276521212000080300000) table under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If no DDM DTCs are retrieved, go to next step.
- Using NGS tester, perform Front Electronic Module (FEM) self-test. If DTC B2214 or B2215 is retrieved, go to next step. If other DTCs are retrieved, see «FRONT ELECTRONIC MODULE DTC INDEX»(ref-5077-S02603599222000090800000) table under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If no DTCs are retrieved, go to step 5.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove passenger's control switch. Perform «SINGLE SWITCHES»(ref-5077-S09587419122000090800000) test under COMPONENT TESTS. If switch is okay, go to next step. If switch is faulty, replace passenger's control switch and retest system operation.
- Disconnect FEM 26-pin harness connector C201e. Measure voltage between 26-pin harness connector C201e terminal No. 25 (White/Violet wire) and ground. (Scheme 5) Measure voltage between 26-pin harness connector C201e terminal No. 10 (Gray/White wire) and ground. If any voltage is greater than 10 volts, repair short to power in appropriate wire and retest system operation. If voltages are less than 10 volts, replace FEM and retest system operation.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using NGS tester, select FEM active command FRONT WINDOW CONTROL. Trigger PR UP to ON then OFF. Then trigger PR DOWN to ON then OFF. If passenger's window raises and lowers replace FEM and retest system operation. If passenger's window did not raise and lower, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove fuse No. 426 (20-amp) from Battery Junction Box (BJB). Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between BJB fuse No. 426 input terminal and ground. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair BJB fuse No. 426 input circuit and retest system operation. See POWER DISTRIBUTION article in WIRING DIAGRAMS.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect passenger's window motor harness connector C608. Install fuse No. 426 in BJB. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using NGS tester, select FEM active command FRONT WINDOW CONTROL. Measure voltage between ground and White/Violet wire at passenger's window motor harness connector C608 while triggering PR DOWN to ON. Record results. Measure voltage between ground and Yellow/Violet wire between passenger's window motor harness connector C608 while triggering PR UP to ON. If voltages are greater than 10 volts when commanded ON, go to next step. If any voltage is less than 10 volts when commanded ON, go to step 9.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect FEM 4-pin harness connector C201d. Measure resistance between FEM 4-pin harness connector C201d terminal No. 4 (Black/Yellow wire) and ground. (Scheme 9) If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace passenger's motor and retest system operation. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Black/Yellow wire and retest system operation.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect FEM 4-pin harness connector C201d. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between FEM 4-pin harness connector C201d terminal No. 3 (Red/Yellow wire) and ground. (Scheme 9) If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open or short to ground in Red/Yellow wire and retest system operation.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Measure resistance in White/Violet wire between passenger's window motor harness connector C608 and FEM 4-pin harness connector C201d terminal No. 2. Measure resistance in Yellow/Violet wire between passenger's window motor harness connector C608 and FEM 4-pin harness connector C201d terminal No. 1. If resistances are less than 5 ohms, replace FEM and retest system operation. If any resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in appropriate wire and retest system operation.
TEST H: PASSENGER'S WINDOW INOPERATIVE FROM DRIVER'S CONTROL SWITCH
- Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). Using NGS tester, perform Driver's Door Module (DDM) self-test. If DTC B1420 is retrieved, go to next step. If other DDM DTCs are retrieved, see «DRIVER'S DOOR MODULE DTC INDEX»(ref-5077-S36276521212000080300000) table under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If no DDM DTCs are retrieved, go to step 4.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove driver's control switch. Perform «DRIVER'S CONTROL SWITCH»(ref-5077-S12768584282000090800000) test under COMPONENT TESTS. If switch is okay, go to next step. If switch is faulty, replace driver's control switch and retest system operation.
- Disconnect DDM 26-pin harness connector C501d. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between driver's control switch 16-pin harness connector C504 terminal No. 3 (Yellow/Violet wire) and ground. (Scheme 7) Measure voltage between driver's control switch 16-pin harness connector C504 terminal No. 2 (Yellow/Black wire) and ground. If any voltage is greater than 10 volts, repair short to power in appropriate wire and retest system operation. If voltages are less than 10 volts, replace DDM and retest system operation.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Ensure NGS tester is properly connected. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using NGS tester, monitor DDM PIDS P_UP_SW and P_DM_SW while operating passenger's window with driver's control switch in UP and DOWN positions. If DDM PIDS P_UP_SW and P_DN_SW agree with driver's control switch positions, replace DDM and retest system operation. If DDM PIDS P_UP_SW and P_DN_SW do not agree with driver's control switch positions, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove driver's control switch. Perform «DRIVER'S CONTROL SWITCH»(ref-5077-S12768584282000090800000) test under COMPONENT TESTS. If switch is okay, go to next step. If switch is faulty, replace driver's control switch and retest system operation.
- Disconnect DDM 26-pin harness connector C501d. Measure resistance in Yellow/Violet wire between driver's control switch 16-pin harness connector C504 terminal No. 3 and DDM 26-pin harness connector C501d terminal No. 3. (Scheme 5) Measure resistance in Yellow/Black wire between driver's control switch 16-pin harness connector C504 terminal No. 2 and DDM 26-pin harness connector C501d terminal No. 2. If resistances are less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If any resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in appropriate wire and retest system operation.
- Measure resistance between driver's control switch 16-pin harness connector C504 terminal No. 3 (Yellow/Violet wire) and ground. Measure resistance between driver's control switch 16-pin harness connector C504 terminal No. 2 (Yellow/Black wire) and ground. If resistances are greater than 10 k/ohms, replace DDM and retest system operation. If any resistance is less than 10 k/ohms, repair short to ground in appropriate wire(s) and retest system operation.
TEST I: PASSENGER'S WINDOW INOPERATIVE FROM PASSENGER'S CONTROL SWITCH
- Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). Using NGS tester, perform Front Electronic Module (FEM) self-test. If any DTCs are retrieved, see «FRONT ELECTRONIC MODULE DTC INDEX»(ref-5077-S02603599222000090800000) table under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If no DTCs are retrieved, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Monitor FEM PIDS P_UP_SW and P_DN_SW while operating passenger's control switch in UP and DOWN positions. If FEM PIDS P_UP_SW and P_DN_SW agree with passenger's control switch positions, replace FEM and retest system operation. If FEM PIDS P_UP_SW and P_DN_SW do not agree with passenger's control switch positions, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove passenger's control switch. Perform «SINGLE SWITCHES»(ref-5077-S09587419122000090800000) test under COMPONENT TESTS. If switch is okay, go to next step. If switch is faulty, replace passenger's control switch and retest system operation.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between passenger's control switch 6-pin harness connector C604 terminal No. 3 (Yellow/Violet wire) and ground. (Scheme 8) If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open or short to ground in Yellow/Violet wire and retest system operation.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect FEM 26-pin harness connector C201e. Measure resistance in White/Violet wire between passenger's control switch 6-pin harness connector C604 terminal No. 1 and FEM 26-pin harness connector C201e terminal No. 25. (Scheme 5) Measure resistance in Gray/White wire between passenger's control switch 6-pin harness connector C604 terminal No. 2 and FEM 26-pin harness connector C201e terminal No. 10. If resistances are less than 5 ohms, replace FEM and retest system operation. If any resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in appropriate wire and retest system operation.
TEST J: RIGHT REAR WINDOW INOPERATIVE FROM DRIVER'S AND RIGHT REAR CONTROL SWITCHES
- Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). Using NGS tester, perform Driver's Door Module (DDM) self-test. If DDM DTCs are retrieved, see «DRIVER'S DOOR MODULE DTC INDEX»(ref-5077-S36276521212000080300000) table under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If no DDM DTCs are retrieved, go to next step.
- Using NGS tester, perform Rear Electronic Module (REM) self-test. If DTC B2190 or B2194 is retrieved, go to next step. If other DTCs are retrieved, see «REAR ELECTRONIC MODULE DTC INDEX»(ref-5077-S36305814182000090800000) table under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If no DTCs are retrieved, go to step 5.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove right rear control switch. Perform «SINGLE SWITCHES»(ref-5077-S09587419122000090800000) test under COMPONENT TESTS. If switch tests okay, go to next step. If switch is faulty, replace right rear control switch and retest system operation.
- Disconnect REM 20-pin harness connector C420d. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between REM 20-pin harness connector C420d terminal No. 7 (White wire) and ground. (Scheme 4) Measure voltage between REM 20-pin harness connector C420d terminal No. 20 (Gray/White wire) and ground. If any voltage is greater than 10 volts, repair short to power in appropriate wire(s) and retest system operation. If any voltages are less than 10 volts, replace REM.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using NGS tester, select REM active command REAR WINDOW CONTROL. Trigger RR UP to ON, then OFF. Trigger RR DOWN to ON, then OFF. If right rear window raises then lowers, replace REM and retest system operation. If right rear window did not raise and/or lower, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove fuse No. 430 (20-amp) from Battery Junction Box (BJB). Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between fuse No. 430 input terminal and ground. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair BJB as necessary and retest system operation.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect right rear window motor harness connector. Install fuse No. 430. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using NGS tester, select REM active command REAR WINDOW CONTROL. Measure voltage between ground and Violet/White wire at right rear window motor harness connector while triggering REM active command RR DOWN to ON. Measure voltage between ground and Blue/Orange wire at right rear window motor harness connector while triggering REM active command RR UP to ON. If voltages are greater than 10 volts when active commands are triggered ON, go to next step. If any voltage is less than 10 volts when active commands are ON, go to step 9.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect REM 4-pin harness connector C420g. Measure resistance between REM 4-pin harness connector C420g terminal No. 1 (Black/Orange wire) and ground. (Scheme 10) If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace right rear window motor. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Black/Orange wire and retest system operation.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect REM 4-pin harness connector C420g. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between REM 4-pin harness connector C420g terminal No. 2 (Red/Orange wire) and ground. (Scheme 10) If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open or short to ground in Red/Orange wire and retest system operation.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Measure resistance in Blue/Orange wire between right rear window motor harness connector and REM 4-pin harness connector C420g terminal No. 3. Measure resistance in Violet/White wire between right rear window motor harness connector and REM 4-pin harness connector C420g terminal No. 4. If resistances are less than 5 ohms replace REM. If any resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in appropriate wire and retest system operation.

TEST K: RIGHT REAR WINDOW INOPERATIVE FROM DRIVER'S CONTROL SWITCH
- Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). Using NGS tester, perform Driver's Door Module (DDM) self-test. If DDM DTC B1424 is retrieved, go to next step. If any other DDM DTC is retrieved, see «DRIVER'S DOOR MODULE DTC INDEX»(ref-5077-S36276521212000080300000) table under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If no DDM DTCs are retrieved, go to step 4.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove driver's control switch. Perform «DRIVER'S CONTROL SWITCH»(ref-5077-S12768584282000090800000) test under COMPONENT TESTS. If switch is okay, go to next step. If switch is faulty, replace driver's control switch.
- Disconnect DDM 26-pin harness connector C501d. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between driver's control switch 16-pin harness connector C504 terminal No. 10 (Yellow wire) and ground. (Scheme 7) Measure voltage between driver's control switch 16-pin harness connector C504 terminal No. 12 (Yellow/Red wire) and ground. If any voltage is greater than 10 volts, repair short to power in appropriate wire(s) and retest system operation. If voltages are less than 10 volts, replace driver's control switch.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using NGS tester, monitor DDM PIDs RRUP_SW and RRDN_SW while operating right rear window from driver's control switch in UP and DOWN positions. If PIDs agree with driver's control switch positions, replace DDM. If PIDs do not agree with driver's control switch positions, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove driver's control switch. Perform «DRIVER'S CONTROL SWITCH»(ref-5077-S12768584282000090800000) test under COMPONENT TESTS. If switch is okay, go to next step. If switch is faulty, replace driver's control switch.
- Disconnect DDM 26-pin harness connector C501d. Measure resistance in Yellow wire between driver's control switch 16-pin harness connector C504 terminal No. 10 and DDM 26-pin harness connector C501d terminal No. 5. Measure resistance in Yellow/Red wire between driver's control switch 16-pin harness connector C504 terminal No. 12 and DDM 26-pin harness connector C501d terminal No. 4. (Scheme 5)and (Scheme 7). If resistances are less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If any resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in appropriate wire(s) and retest system operation.
- Measure resistance between driver's control switch 16-pin harness connector C504 terminal No. 10 (Yellow wire) and ground. Measure resistance between driver's control switch 16-pin harness connector C504 terminal No. 12 (Yellow/Red wire) and ground. If resistances are greater than 10 k/ohms, replace DDM. If any resistance is less than 10 k/ohms, repair short to ground in appropriate wire(s) and retest system operation.
TEST L: RIGHT REAR WINDOW INOPERATIVE FROM RIGHT REAR CONTROL SWITCH
- Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). Using NGS tester, perform Rear Electronic Module (REM) self-test. If any REM DTCs are retrieved, see «REAR ELECTRONIC MODULE DTC INDEX»(ref-5077-S36305814182000090800000) table under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If no REM DTCs are retrieved, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using NGS tester, monitor REM PIDS RRUP_SW and RRDN_SW while operating right rear window from right rear control switch in UP and DOWN positions. If PIDs agree with right rear control switch positions, replace REM. If PIDs do not agree with right rear control switch positions, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove right rear control switch. Perform «SINGLE SWITCHES»(ref-5077-S09587419122000090800000) test under COMPONENT TESTS. If switch is okay, go to next step. If switch is faulty, replace right rear control switch.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between right rear control switch 6-pin harness connector C801 terminal No. 3 (Yellow wire) and ground. (Scheme 8) If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open or short to ground in Yellow wire and retest system operation.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect REM 20-pin harness connector C420d. Measure resistance in White wire between right rear control switch 6-pin harness connector C801 terminal No. 1 and REM 20-pin harness connector C420d terminal No. 7. (Scheme 4) Measure resistance in Gray wire between right rear control switch 6-pin harness connector C801 terminal No. 2 and REM 20-pin harness connector C420d terminal No. 20. TEST M: LEFT REAR WINDOW INOPERATIVE FROM DRIVER'S AND LEFT REAR CONTROL SWITCHES
- Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). Using NGS tester, perform Driver's Door Module (DDM) self-test. If any DDM DTCs are retrieved, see «DRIVER'S DOOR MODULE DTC INDEX»(ref-5077-S36276521212000080300000) table under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If no DDM DTCs are retrieved, go to next step.
- Using NGS tester, perform Rear Electronic Module (REM) self-test. If REM DTC B2174 or B2178 is retrieved, go to next step. If other REM DTCs are retrieved, see «REAR ELECTRONIC MODULE DTC INDEX»(ref-5077-S36305814182000090800000) table under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If no REM DTCs are retrieved, go to step 5.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove left rear control switch. Perform «SINGLE SWITCHES»(ref-5077-S09587419122000090800000) test under COMPONENT TESTS. If switch tests okay, go to next step. If switch is faulty, replace left rear control switch and retest system operation.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect REM 26-pin harness connector C420c. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between REM 26-pin harness connector C420c terminal No. 24 (White/Blue wire) and ground. (Scheme 5) Measure voltage between REM 26-pin harness connector C420c terminal No. 22 (Gray/Violet wire) and ground. If any voltage is greater than 10 volts, repair short to power in appropriate wire(s) and retest system operation. If voltages are less than 10 volts, replace REM.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Ensure New Generation Star (NGS) is installed properly. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using NGS tester, select REM active command REAR WINDOW CONTROL. Trigger LR UP to ON, then OFF. Trigger LR DOWN to ON, then OFF. If left rear window raises then lowers, replace REM and retest system operation. If left rear window did not raise and/or lower, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove fuse No. 419 (20-amp) from Battery Junction Box (BJB). Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between fuse No. 419 input terminal and ground. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair BJB input circuit as necessary and retest system operation. See POWER DISTRIBUTION article in WIRING DIAGRAMS.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect left rear window motor harness connector. Install fuse No. 419. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using NGS tester, select REM active command REAR WINDOW CONTROL. Measure voltage between ground and Violet/Blue wire at left rear window motor harness connector while triggering REM active command LR DOWN to ON. Measure voltage between ground and Blue/Red wire at left rear window motor harness connector while triggering REM active command LR UP to ON. If voltages are greater than 10 volts when active commands are triggered ON, go to next step. If any voltage is less than 10 volts when active commands are ON, go to step 9.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect REM 4-pin harness connector C420f. Measure resistance between REM 4-pin harness connector C420f terminal No. 3 (Black/Orange wire) and ground. (Scheme 11) If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace left rear window motor. See «REAR WINDOW MOTOR»(ref-5077-S38539264912000091100000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Black/Orange wire and retest system operation.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect REM 4-pin harness connector C420f. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between REM 4-pin harness connector C420f terminal No. 2 (Red wire) and ground. (Scheme 11) If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open or short to ground in Red wire and retest system operation.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Measure resistance in Blue/Orange wire between left rear window motor harness connector and REM 4-pin harness connector C420f terminal No. 1. Measure resistance in Violet/Blue wire between left rear window motor harness connector and REM 4-pin harness connector C420f terminal No. 3. If resistances are less than 5 ohms replace REM. If resistances are greater than 5 ohms, repair open in appropriate wire and retest system operation.

- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove driver's control switch. Perform «DRIVER'S CONTROL SWITCH»(ref-5077-S12768584282000090800000) test under COMPONENT TESTS. If switch is okay, go to next step. If switch is faulty, replace driver's window switch.
- Disconnect DDM 26-pin harness connector C501d. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between driver's control switch 16-pin harness connector C504 terminal No. 15 (Yellow/Blue wire) and ground. (Scheme 7) Measure voltage between driver's control switch 16-pin harness connector C504 terminal No. 13 (Yellow/Green wire) and ground. If any voltage is greater than 10 volts, repair short to power in appropriate wire(s) and retest system operation. If voltages are less than 10 volts, replace driver's control switch.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using NGS tester, monitor DDM PIDs LRUP_SW and LRDN_SW while operating right rear window from driver's control switch in UP and DOWN positions. If PIDs agree with driver's control switch positions, replace DDM. If PIDs do not agree with driver's control switch positions, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove driver's control switch. Perform «DRIVER'S CONTROL SWITCH»(ref-5077-S12768584282000090800000) test under COMPONENT TESTS. If switch is okay, go to next step. If switch is faulty, replace driver's control switch.
- Disconnect DDM 20-pin harness connector C501c. Measure resistance in Yellow/Blue wire between driver's control switch 16-pin harness connector C504 terminal No. 15 and DDM 20-pin harness connector C501c terminal No. 9. (Scheme 2)and (Scheme 7). Measure resistance in Yellow/Green wire between driver's control switch 16-pin harness connector C504 terminal No. 13 and DDM 20-pin harness connector C501c terminal No. 8. If resistances are less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If any resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in appropriate wire(s) and retest system operation.
- Measure resistance between driver's control switch 16-pin harness connector C504 terminal No. 15 (Yellow/Blue wire) and ground. Measure resistance between driver's control switch 16-pin harness connector C504 terminal No. 13 (Yellow/Green) and ground. If resistances are greater than 10 k/ohms, replace DDM. If any resistance is less than 10 k/ohms, repair short to ground in appropriate wire(s) and retest system operation.
TEST O: LEFT REAR WINDOW INOPERATIVE FROM LEFT REAR CONTROL SWITCH
- Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). Using NGS tester, perform Rear Electronic Module (REM) self-test. If any REM DTCs are retrieved, see «REAR ELECTRONIC MODULE DTC INDEX»(ref-5077-S36305814182000090800000) table under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If no REM DTCs are retrieved, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using NGS tester, monitor REM PIDS LRUP_SW and LRDN_SW while operating left rear window from left rear control switch in UP and DOWN positions. If PIDs agree with left rear control switch positions, replace REM. If PIDs do not agree with left rear control switch positions, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove left rear control switch. Perform «DRIVER'S CONTROL SWITCH»(ref-5077-S12768584282000090800000) test under COMPONENT TESTS. If switch is okay, go to next step. If switch is faulty, replace left rear control switch.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between left rear control switch 6-pin harness connector C701 terminal No. 3 (Yellow/Blue wire) and ground. (Scheme 8) If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open or short to ground in Yellow/Blue wire and retest system operation.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect REM 26-pin harness connector C420c. Measure resistance in White/Blue wire between right left control switch 6-pin harness connector C701 terminal No. 1 and REM 26-pin harness connector C420c terminal No. 24. (Scheme 5) Measure resistance in Gray/Violet wire between left rear control switch 6-pin harness connector C701 terminal No. 2 and REM 26-pin harness connector C420c terminal No. 22. If resistances are less than 5 ohms, replace REM. If any resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in appropriate wire(s) and retest system operation.
TEST P: ALL PASSENGER'S WINDOWS ARE INOPERATIVE/PASSENGER'S WINDOW LOCK-OUT NOT OPERATING PROPERLY
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove driver's control switch. Perform «DRIVER'S CONTROL SWITCH»(ref-5077-S12768584282000090800000) test under COMPONENT TESTS. If switch is okay, go to next step. If switch is faulty, replace driver's control switch.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between driver's control switch 16-pin harness connector C504 terminal No. 5 (Yellow/Blue wire) and ground. (Scheme 7) If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to step 4.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect Driver's Door Module (DDM) 26-pin harness connector C501d. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between driver's control switch 16-pin harness connector C504 terminal No. 5 (Yellow/Blue wire) and ground. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, repair short to power in Yellow/Blue wire and retest system operation. If voltage is less than 10 volts, replace DDM.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Measure resistance between driver's control switch 16-pin harness connector C504 terminal No. 5 (Yellow/Blue wire) and ground. If resistance is greater than 10 k/ohms, go to step 6. If resistance is less than 10 k/ohms, go to next step.
- Disconnect DDM 26-pin harness connector C501d. Measure resistance between driver's control switch 16-pin harness connector C504 terminal No. 5 (Yellow/Blue wire) and ground. If resistance is greater than 10 k/ohms, replace DDM. If resistance is less than 10 k/ohms, repair short to ground in Yellow/Blue wire and retest system operation.
- Disconnect DDM 26-pin harness connector C501d. Measure resistance in Yellow/Blue wire between driver's control switch 16-pin harness connector C504 terminal No. 5 and DDM 26-pin harness connector C501d terminal No. 22. (Scheme 5) If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace DDM. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Yellow/Blue wire and retest system operation.
TEST Q: ONE-TOUCH DOWN FEATURE DOES NOT OPERATE PROPERLY
- Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). Using NGS tester, perform Driver's Door Module (DDM) self-test. If DDM DTC B1400 is retrieved, go to step 6. If any other DDM DTC is retrieved, see «DRIVER'S DOOR MODULE DTC INDEX»(ref-5077-S36276521212000080300000) table under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If no DDM DTCs are retrieved, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove driver's control switch. Perform «DRIVER'S CONTROL SWITCH»(ref-5077-S12768584282000090800000) test under COMPONENT TESTS. If switch is okay, go to next step. If switch is faulty, replace driver's control switch.
- Measure resistance between driver's control switch 16-pin harness connector C504 terminal No. 4 (Yellow/Black wire) and ground. (Scheme 7) If resistance is greater than 10 k/ohms, go to step 5. If resistance is less than 10 k/ohms, go to next step.
- Disconnect DDM 26-pin harness connector C501d. Measure resistance between driver's control switch 16-pin harness connector C504 terminal No. 4 (Yellow/Black wire) and ground. If resistance is greater than 10 k/ohms, replace DDM. If resistance is less than 10 k/ohms, repair short to ground in Yellow/Black wire and retest system operation.
- Disconnect DDM 26-pin harness connector C501d. Measure resistance in Yellow/Black wire between driver's control switch 16-pin harness connector C504 terminal No. 4 and DDM 26-pin harness connector C501d terminal No. 21. (Scheme 5) If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace DDM. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Yellow/Black wire and retest system operation.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using NGS tester, monitor DDM PID OTD_SW. Disconnect driver's control switch 16-pin harness connector C504. If DDM PID changes when switch 16-pin harness connector C504 is disconnected, replace driver's control switch. If DDM PID does not change when switch 16-pin harness connector C504 is disconnected, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect DDM 26-pin harness connector C501d. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between driver's control switch 16-pin harness connector C504 terminal No. 4 (Yellow/Black wire) and ground. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, repair short to power in Yellow/Black wire and retest system operation. If voltage is less than 10 volts, replace DDM.
