Backlash Not Within Specification (Nodular Iron)
- To increase or decrease the backlash, remove the bearing caps and install a thicker shim or a thinner shim. (Схема №90) (Схема №88) If the backlash is not within specification, correct by increasing the thickness of one differential bearing shim, and decreasing the thickness of the other differential bearing shim by the same amount.
- Rotate the differential several times to make sure the differential bearings are correctly seated. Do not turn the pinion flange in order to rotate the differential.
- Use the dial indicator to recheck the backlash (Схема №87) If the backlash is within specification, go to «Backlash Within Specification (Nodular Iron)»(ref-142042-S09736675832002111100000). If the backlash is not within specification, repeat «Measuring For Backlash (Nodular Iron)»(ref-142042-S02065437642002111100000).
