  1. CHECK OPERATION (AUTOMATIC LIGHT CONTROL SENSOR) Connect the intelligent tester (with CAN VIM) to the DLC3. Turn the ignition switch ON and intelligent tester main switch ON. Check that the value of the illumination rate changes in the following range when the light sensor is put in the light or covered by a hand. OK: 0.008 to 0.022 seconds HINT: This is the time taken for the light sensor to generate one cycle of frequency according to the brightness. When not using intelligent tester, refer to the following procedures (see «ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION»(ref-283186-S36753367792008041900000) ). NG: REPLACE AUTOMATIC LIGHT CONTROL SENSOR OK: Go to Next step
  2. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (ECU - SENSOR) Disconnect the D5 ECU connector. Disconnect the A26 sensor connector. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors. The electric current flowing in the transistor inside the junction block is examined by the ECU.

When an excessive current is detected, DTC B2402 is output.

When overheating occurs prior to an excessive current, the ECU cuts off the current in the transistor to prevent it from being damaged and outputs DTC B2403.

Normally, turning OFF the ignition switch clears DTC. However, if an excessive current is detected frequently (9 times or more), DTC may not be cleared.

When this happens, disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to clear DTC.

The swivel actuator receives the signal from the AFS ECU to operate and sends the signal regarding the direction of the headlight swivel actuator and condition of the headlight swivel actuator swivel motor to the AFS ECU.

Connect the dry cell battery positive (+) terminal to terminal 1 (SHB) and the negative one to terminal 4 (SHG) to apply the voltage of 4.5 V between terminals 1 (SHB) and 4 (SHG). While slowly moving the link up and down with the voltage being applied, measure the voltage between terminals 2 (SHFL) and 4 (SHG). Connect the dry cell battery positive (+) terminal to terminal 3 (SHB) and the negative one to terminal 1 (SHG) to apply the voltage of 4.5 V between terminals 3 (SHB) and 1 (SHG). While slowly moving the link up and down with the voltage being applied, measure the voltage between terminals 2 (SHRL) and 1 (SHG).
