  1. READ VALUE OF INTELLIGENT TESTER Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position and press the intelligent tester main switch ON. Select the items below in the DATA LIST, and read the displays on the intelligent tester. The swivel actuator receives the signal from the AFS ECU via the headlight swivel ECU to operate and sends the signal regarding direction of the headlight and condition of the headlight swivel motor to the headlight swivel ECU.

The AFS ECU receives the signal regarding lighting condition of the headlight, shift position signal of the transaxle, READY condition signal from HV control ECU and vehicle speed signal from the combination meter using multiplex communication.

When the DTC (B2419) is output, the other DTCs are output at the same time.

DTC DETECTING CONDITION CHART

This DTC is output when AFS ECU does not finish steering neutral point automatic correction. AFS operation is prohibited while this DTC is being output. This DTC is completed and AFS operation starts when AFS ECU records the steering neutral point correctly, if this DTC is not automatically erased, perform repair or replacement by following the procedures below.

This DTC is output if the AFS ECU is not installed properly. (The AFS ECU for vehicles with coil suspension is installed on vehicles with air suspension.)

  3. REMOVE NO. 1 HEADLIGHT BULB (for Halogen Headlight) Remove the No. 1 headlight bulb as shown in the illustration.
  4. REMOVE NO. 1 HEADLIGHT BULB (for HID Headlight) Separate the light control ECU socket as shown in the illustration. Release the set spring and remove the No. 1 headlight bulb.
  5. REMOVE FRONT TURN SIGNAL LIGHT BULB Turn in the direction indicated by the arrow and remove the front turn signal light bulb and the front turn signal light socket as a unit. Remove the front turn signal light bulb from the front turn signal light socket.
  6. REMOVE FRONT SIDE MARKER LIGHT BULB Turn the front side marker light bulb and the front side marker light socket and wire in the direction indicated by the arrow and remove them as a unit. Remove the front side marker light bulb from the front side marker light socket and wire.
  7. REMOVE CLEARANCE LIGHT BULB Turn the clearance light bulb and the clearance light socket and wire in the direction indicated by the arrow and remove them as a unit. Remove the clearance light bulb from the clearance light socket and wire.
  8. REMOVE LIGHT CONTROL ECU SUB-ASSEMBLY (for HID Headlight without AFS) Remove the 4 screws. Disconnect the light control ECU sub-assembly and the No. 1 headlight cover. Remove the 3 screws, the light control ECU sub-assembly and the headlight cord. Disconnect the connector and remove the headlight cord. Remove the headlight fitting and the light control ECU sub-assembly.
  9. REMOVE LIGHT CONTROL ECU SUB-ASSEMBLY (for HID Headlight with AFS) Remove the 2 screws and the cover. Remove the 2 screws and the headlight bracket. Remove the 4 screws. Disconnect the light control ECU sub-assembly and the No. 1 headlight cover. Remove the 3 screws, the light control ECU sub-assembly and the headlight cord. Disconnect the connector and remove the headlight cord. Remove the headlight fitting and the light control ECU sub-assembly.
  10. REMOVE HEADLIGHT GASKET (for HID Headlight) Remove the headlight gasket. NOTE: After the headlight gasket is removed, be sure to replace it with a new one. Failure to do this may cause water ingress.
  11. REMOVE HEADLIGHT LEVELING MOTOR (for HID Headlight) Align the notches of the headlight leveling motor and the housing, and pull out the headlight leveling motor slightly. Lower the tip of the headlight leveling motor to disengage it from the reflector and remove the headlight leveling motor.
  12. REMOVE HEADLIGHT LEVELING MOTOR BASE PACKING (for HID Headlight) Remove the headlight leveling motor base packing. NOTE: After the headlight leveling motor base packing is removed, be sure to replace it with a new one. Failure to do this may cause water ingress.
  13. REMOVE HEADLIGHT SWIVEL ECU SUB-ASSEMBLY (for HID Headlight with AFS) Disconnect the connector. Remove the screw and the headlight swivel ECU sub-assembly.
  14. REMOVE LIGHT REFLECTOR MOTOR (for HID Headlight with AFS) Disconnect the connector. Remove the 2 screws and light reflector motor.
