Fluid Stored In Height Control Accumulator
Normally height control accumulator stores only amount of fluid that is equivalent to that used in raising vehicle height once. Therefore, after vehicle has been raised from low to normal, or from normal to high, it is necessary to replenish fluid in height control accumulator. At this time, pump motor is operated to rotate pump, leveling valves are closed, solenoid valve of height control accumulator is opened, and fluid that is stored in height control accumulator has not reached a prescribed pressure, only fluid that is discharged by pump is used for raising vehicle height, without using fluid in height control accumulator. - Vehicle Speed Under 3 MPH - When height select switch is operated to lower vehicle height from high to normal, or from normal to low, front and rear leveling valves are opened simultaneously to allow fluid in gas chambers and shock absorbers at 4 wheels to return to reservoir tank causing height of suspension at all wheels to become lower at the same time. However, if rear is expected to become lower more quickly due to load condition, and the difference between lowering front and rear becomes greater than a prescribed value, rear leveling valve closes once, allowing vehicle height to become lowered only in front. This prevents headlights from being aimed upward. (Scheme 155)
- Vehicle Speed Over 3 MPH - When height select switch is operated to lower vehicle height from high to normal, front and rear leveling valves are opened alternately to lower suspension of front and rear wheels alternately. When vehicle speed reaches approximately 3 MPH, vehicle height will not be lowered from normal to low. (Scheme 155)
Fluid Level
- Start engine on a level place. Adjust vehicle height to "N" position with vehicle unloaded. Do not turn engine off.
- Check that fluid level in reservoir tank of AHC pump motor is within standard range. see scheme 26
