SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

  1. POWER MIRROR CONTROL SYSTEM DESCRIPTION This system has the following functions: automatic glare-resistant electrochromic (EC) mirror, reverse shift-linked mirror, electrical remote control type mirror, memory function, and rear window defogger-linked mirror heater.
  2. FUNCTION OF MAIN COMPONENT MAIN COMPONENT FUNCTION CHART Components Function Vertical mirror motor Receives signal from door ECU and adjusts remote control mirror vertically Horizontal mirror motor Receives signal from door ECU and adjusts remote control mirror horizontally Mirror retract motor Receives signal from door ECU, and retracts and returns remote control mirror Mirror heater Receives signal from door ECU and operates mirror heater EC mirror cell Varies reflection rate of mirror through function of EC elements Mirror retract switch Retracts and returns remote control mirror. Mirror retract and return signals are sent to door ECU from outer mirror switch. Mirror master switch Consists of R and L switches. One must be chosen before mirror control switches can be operated. Mirror control switch Mirror R and L signals are sent to door ECU from outer mirror switch. After selecting R or L switch, RIGHT, LEFT, UP and DOWN control switches change angle of mirror. Mirror position sensor Detects remote control mirror position. This data is sent to door ECU. Seat memory switch (for driver side) (SET, M1, M2, M3 switch) When SET switch and M1, M2 or M3 switch are pressed simultaneously, signal is input to door ECU and sent to seat ECU which records mirror position. When M1, M2 or M3 switch is pressed, signal is input to door ECU and sent to seat ECU which changes mirror position to recorded position.
  3. SYSTEM OPERATION The remote control mirror has the following features: REMOTE CONTROL MIRROR FUNCTION Function Outline Manual electrical retractable mirror Retracts remote control mirrors when mirror retract switch is pressed Reverse shift-linked mirror Directs mirror surface downward to improve visibility when driving in reverse and all conditions below are met: Engine switch is on (IG) Shift lever is moved from position other than R to R Mirror master switch is on R or L position Electrical remote control type mirror When mirror control switch is operated, this function moves mirror surface vertically or horizontally to enable driver to attain optimal mirror angle. Setting mirror master switch to R position operates right mirror, and setting it to L position operates left mirror. Rear window defogger-linked mirror heater Automatically turns on mirror heater when rear window defogger switch is turned on. Rear window defogger and mirror heater automatically turn off after 15 min. Automatic glare-resistant EC mirror Reduce glare/reflection in mirror during nighttime driving for safe driving conditions. Glare/reflection from vehicle headlights behind could blind driver and cause dangerous driving conditions. Memory function Stores adjusted mirror position in front door ECU LH and RH

The outer mirror switch sends power mirror control switch RIGHT, LEFT, UP and DOWN signals through the CAN (can communication) line to the front door ECU LH and RH to activate the mirror surfaces accordingly.

This circuit detects the conditions of the mirror control switch.

The outer mirror switch assembly sends information about the operating condition of the mirror switch (switch input signals) through the CAN (can communication) line. Then the switch input signals are sent to the front door ECU LH. Mirror adjustment is controlled by the front door ECU LH.

The outer rear view mirror assembly has a mirror position sensor. The seat ECUs send instructions to the driver side and front passenger side door ECUs. Then the door ECUs receive mirror information from the mirror position sensors, and memorize the mirror positions.

When the seat memory M1, M2 or M3 switch is pressed, the front power seat switch LH memory's driver and passenger seat mirror position signal is sent through the CAN (can communication) line to the front door ECU LH and RH. The front door ECU LH and RH then activate the mirror control motors to move the mirrors to the previously recorded positions.

The reverse shift-linked function will not occur when the mirror master switch is in the neutral position (OFF).
