  1. INSPECTION THROTTLE BODY Inspect the throttle control motor for operating sound. Turn the ignition switch ON. When turning the accelerator pedal position sensor lever, check the running sound of the motor. The motor should be running smoothly without friction sounds. If operation is not as specified, check the throttle control motor wiring and ECM (see «DTC P2118 THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL MOTOR CURRENT RANGE/PERFORMANCE»(ref-209347-S06910656532005120900000) ). Inspect the throttle position sensor. Connect the hand-held tester (with CAN VIM) to the DLC3. Turn the ignition switch ON. Check that the MIL does not light up. Check that, under the CURRENT DATA, THROTTLE POS (throttle valve opening percentage) is within the standard value below. Standard throttle valve opening percentage: 60% or more If operation is not as specified, check the throttle position sensor wiring and ECM (see «DTC P0120 THROTTLE/PEDAL POSITION SENSOR/SWITCH "A" CIRCUIT, DTC P0122 THROTTLE/PEDAL POSITION SENSOR/SWITCH "A" CIRCUIT LOW INPUT, DTC P0123 THROTTLE/PEDAL POSITION SENSOR/SWITCH "A" CIRCUIT HIGH INPUT, DTC P0220 THROTTLE/PEDAL POSITION SENSOR/SWITCH "B" CIRCUIT, DTC P0222 THROTTLE/PEDAL POSITION SENSOR/SWITCH "B" CIRCUIT LOW INPUT, DTC P0223 THROTTLE/PEDAL POSITION SENSOR/SWITCH "B" CIRCUIT HIGH INPUT, DTC P2135 THROTTLE/PEDAL POSITION SENSOR/SWITCH "A"/"B" VOLTAGE CORRELATION»(ref-209347-S10639543492005120900000) ).
  2. INSPECT ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION SENSOR When turning ignition switch ON, check that the voltage of the accelerator pedal position sensor of the CURRENT DATA is within the standard in value below. Standard voltage: 0.6 to 1.0 V If the result is not as specified, replace the accelerator pedal position sensor.
  3. INSPECT CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSY Connect the hand-held tester (with CAN VIM) to the DLC3. Turn the ignition switch ON. Start and warm up the engine. Connect the hand-held tester and select VVT from the ACTIVE TEST menu. Check the engine speed when the OCV is operated by the hand-held tester. OK

  1. INSPECT MASS AIR FLOW METER Check the output voltage. Apply battery voltage across terminals 1 (+B) and 2 (E2G). Using a voltmeter, connect the positive (+) tester probe to terminal VG, and negative (-) tester probe to terminal E2G. Blow air in to the MAF meter, and check that the voltage fluctuates. Measure the resistance between terminals 4 (THA) and 5 (E2). Standard: If the result is not as specified, replace the MAF meter.
  2. INSPECT CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSY Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals. Standard: 6.9 to 7.9 ohm at 20°C (68°F) Connect the battery's positive (+) lead to terminal 1 and negative (-) lead to terminal 2. Check the movement of the valve. If operation is not as specified, replace the valve.
  3. INSPECT ACCELERATOR PEDAL ROD ASSY Measure the resistance between the terminals. Standard: If the result is not as specified, replace the pedal assy.
  4. INSPECT THROTTLE BODY ASSY Measure the resistance between the terminals. Standard: If the result is not as specified, replace the throttle body assy.
  5. INSPECT ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR Measure the resistance between terminals 1 and 2. Standard: If the result is not as specified, replace the sensor. NOTE: If checking the ECT sensor in the water, keep the terminals dry. After the check, wipe the sensor dry.
  6. INSPECT KNOCK SENSOR Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals. Standard: 120 to 280 kohm at 20°C (68°F) If the result is not as specified, replace the sensor.
  7. INSPECT RELAY (Marking: EFI, C/OPN) Remove the EFI and C/OPN relays from the engine room R/B. Measure the resistance of the relay. Standard: If the result is not as specified, replace the relay.
  8. INSPECT RELAY (Marking: F/PMP) Remove the F/PMP relay from the engine room R/B. Measure the resistance of the F/PMP relay. Standard: If the result is not as specified, replace the relay.
