INSPECTION
- CHECK EVAPORATOR AND HEATER RADIATOR FINS FOR FOREIGN MATTER If foreign matter is attached to the fin, blow it off with compressed air. NOTE: Never use water to clean the evaporator.
- CHECK FITTING FOR CRACKS OR SCRATCHES Repair as necessary.

ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION
- INSPECT COOLER CONDENSER ASSY If the fins of the cooler condenser assy are dirty, clean them with water and dry them with compressed air. NOTE: Do not damage the fins of the cooler condenser assy. If the fins of the cooler condenser assy are bent, straighten them using a screwdriver or pliers.
- INSPECT CONDENSER FOR REFRIGERANT LEAKAGE Using a halogen leak detector, check the pipe joints for refrigerant leakage. If refrigerant leakage is detected in a joint, check the torque of the joint.

- INSPECT EXPANSION VALVE Check quantity of gas during refrigeration cycle. Set on manifold gauge set. Run engine. Run the engine at 1,500 RPM for at least 5 minutes. Then check that the high pressure reading is 1.37 to 1.57 Mpa (14 to 16 kgf.cm 2 ,199 to 288 psi). Check expansion valve. If the expansion valve is faulty, the low pressure reading will drop to 0kPa (0 kgf.cm 2 , 0 psi). HINT: When the lower pressure drop to 0kPa (0 kgf.cm 2 , 0 psi), feel the receiver's IN and OUT sides for no temperature difference.

- INSPECT EVAPORATOR SUB-ASSY (REAR) Check the evaporator sub-assy (rear) fins for blockage. If the fins are clogged, clean them with compressed air. NOTE: Never use water to clean the evaporator sub-assy (rear). Check the fitting for cracks or scratches. If necessary, repair or replace.
- INSPECT COOLING BOX LAMP SUB-ASSY Connect positive (+) lead to terminal 1 and negative (-) lead to terminal 2. Check that the cooling box lamp sub-assy comes on. If cooling box light does not come on, replace the cooling box lamp sub-assy.
