  1. RESTRICTION OF STEP MOTORS CONTINUOUS OPERATION If the step motor is continuously operating for many hours, the step motor is forced to stop and the "AUTO" indicator blinks. In this case, the step motor automatically restores after cooling for approximately 7 minutes.

  1. GENERAL The air conditioning system has the following features: In compliance with the temperature set at the temperature control switch, the neural network control calculates the outlet temperature based on the input signals from various sensors. In addition, corrections in accordance with the signals from the evaporative temperature sensor and the water temperature sensor are added to control the outlet air temperature. Controls the front and rear blower motors in accordance with the airflow volume that has been calculated by the neural network control based on the input signals from various sensors. Automatically switches the outlets in accordance with the outlet mode ratio that has been calculated by the neural network control based on the input signals from various sensors. Automatically controls the air inlet control damper in accordance with the airflow volume that has been calculated by the neural network control. Turns the compressor on/off and controls the discharge capacity based on the signals from various sensors. Based on the signals from the ambient temperature sensor, this control calculates the outside temperature, which is then corrected in the air conditioner ECU, and shown in the multi-information display in the combination meter.   1. STEP MOTORS INITIALIZING FUNCTION Step motor initializing procedure (Automatic initializing) When the battery is reconnected and the ignition switch is turned to the ON position for the first time, the initializing function of the step motors is activated. In this case, the "FRONT DEF" indicator blinks. If mode indication is different from the actual air outlet in actuator check, turn the ignition switch to the ON or START position while pressing the "Rr DEF" and "OFF" switches simultaneously. Step motor initialization occurs and the "DEF" indicator blinks.

  1. LIST OF OPERATION METHODS By operating each of the A/C control switches as shown in the diagram below, it is possible to enter the diagnostic check mode.
  2. CHECK DLC3 The vehicle's ECM uses CAN and the to ISO 9141 - 2 for communication protocol. The terminal arrangement of the DLC3 complies with SAE J1962 and meets the ISO 9141 - 2 format. HINT: If the display shows UNABLE TO CONNECT TO VEHICLE when you have connected the cable of the hand-held tester to the DLC3, turned the ignition switch ON and operated the tester, there is a problem on the vehicle side or tool side. If the communication is normal when the tool is connected to another vehicle, inspect the DLC3 on the original vehicle. If the communication is still impossible when the tool is connected to another vehicle, the problem is probably in the tool itself, so consult the Service Department listed in the tool's instruction manual.

  1. INDICATOR CHECK Turn the ignition switch to the ON position while pressing the A/C control AUTO switch and R/F (Recirculation/Fresh) switch simultaneously. Check that the all indicators come on and go off 4 times in succession at 1 second intervals. HINT: After the indicator check is completed, the system enters the DTC mode automatically. Press the "OFF" switch to cancel the indicator mode.
  2. DTC CHECK USING HAND-HELD TESTER Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3. Read the DTC following the prompts on the tester screen. Please refer to the hand-held tester operator manual for further details. Clear the DTCs. HINT: After repairing the malfunctions, clear the DTC. Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position. Erase the DTCs following the prompts on the tester screen. HINT: Refer to the intelligent tester II operator manual for further details.

  1. DATA LIST HINT: From the DATA LIST displayed on the hand-held tester, you can read the values of the displays, sensors, actuators and so on without parts removal. Reading the DATA LIST as the first step of troubleshooting is one way to shorten labor time. Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.   2. ACTIVE TEST HINT: Performing the ACTIVE TEST using the hand-held tester allows the relays, VSV, actuators and so on to operate without parts removal. Performing the ACTIVE TEST as the first step of troubleshooting is one way to shorten labor time. It is possible to display the DATA LIST on the hand-held tester during the ACTIVE TEST.
