- POWER WINDOW CONTROL SYSTEM PRECAUTIONS NOTE: The power window control system uses the LIN communication system. Inspect the communication function by following How to Proceed with Troubleshooting. Troubleshoot the power window control system after confirming that the communication system is functioning properly. If the power window regulator motor assembly has been replaced with a new one, initialize the power window control system. Refer to «INITIALIZATION [04/2013 - ]»(ref-665547-S39448188862014102400000) If the power window regulator motor assembly and door window regulator sub-assembly have been removed and installed, or if the power window regulator motor assembly was reused when a door glass or door glass run was replaced, initialize the power window control system. Refer to «INITIALIZATION [04/2013 - ]»(ref-665547-S39448188862014102400000) The jam protection function may operate unexpectedly, even when the power window control system is normal, due to detection of a value different than the operation learned value when the door glass moving speed changes sharply under any of the following conditions: A power window is being opened or closed while the vehicle is driven on a rough road. A power window is being opened or closed while the door is being opened or closed. The voltage changes abruptly. Do not disconnect the battery while the engine switch is on (IG). - CUSTOMER PROBLEM ANALYSIS HINT: In troubleshooting, confirm that the problem symptoms have been accurately identified. Preconceptions should be discarded in order to make an accurate judgment. To clearly understand what the problem symptoms are, it is extremely important to ask the customer about the problem and the conditions at the time the malfunction occurred. Gather as much information as possible for reference. Past problems that seem unrelated may also help in some cases. The following 5 items are important points for problem analysis: What Vehicle model, system name When Date, time, occurrence frequency Where Road conditions Under what conditions? - PRE-CHECK Measure the battery voltage. Standard Voltage 11 to 14 V If the voltage is below 11 V, recharge or replace the battery before proceeding to the next step. Check the fuses and relays. - CHECK WINDOW LOCK FUNCTION HINT: Before performing the window lock switch operation check, make sure that the window lock switch is off (the switch is not pushed in). When the window lock switch of the multiplex network master switch assembly is pushed: Check that the front passenger and rear windows are disabled. OK Front passenger and rear windows are disabled. - CHECK KEY-OFF OPERATION FUNCTION Check that each power window can be operated with the multiplex network master switch assembly, power window regulator switch assembly or rear power window regulator switch assembly after the engine switch is turned off. HINT: If the window lock switch is on, the power windows cannot be operated by using the power window regulator switch assembly and rear power window regulator switch assembly. Therefore, turn the window lock switch off before checking the window operation. Check that the key-off operation function does not operate immediately after the driver door or front passenger door is opened. HINT: Even if the driver door or front passenger door is opened during auto window operation while the key-off operation function is on, the window will stop operating. Check that all the power windows cannot be operated after more than approximately 43 seconds have elapsed since the engine switch is turned off.
- CHECK WIRELESS TRANSMITTER-LINKED FUNCTION* *: This function is set through the customize function, as it is off by default. - CHECK WINDOW OPEN WARNING FUNCTION Open a window by using the power window switch. When the engine switch is turned from on (IG) to off and the driver door is opened with the key in the vehicle, check that the warning buzzer in the combination meter assembly sounds once. Then, check that the multi-information display on the combination meter assembly displays "Window opened".
- CHECK JAM PROTECTION FUNCTION Check the basic function. WARNING: Do not put your fingers between the door frame and door glass to check the jam protection function. Also, prevent any part of your body from being caught during inspection. HINT: The jam protection function is operative during both the auto up and manual up operations while the engine is running or the engine switch is on (IG), and also for approximately 43 seconds after the engine switch is turned off. Fully open the window. Set a check jig wrapped with a piece of cloth near the window fully closed position. *a Check Jig *b Cloth Operate the auto up or manual up function to check that the power window stops and goes down after the check jig is caught between the window and door frame, and stops when the opening reaches approximately 200 mm (7.87 in.) or approximately 5 seconds have elapsed. HINT: If the check jig is caught when the opening is approximately 75 mm (2.95 in.) or more, the power window goes down approximately 125 mm (4.93 in.) or approximately 2.5 seconds have elapsed. While the power window is moving down, check that the door glass cannot be raised using the power window switch.
- CHECK POWER WINDOW SWITCH LED ILLUMINATION Check the LED illumination (multiplex network master switch assembly). Check that the LEDs located in the multiplex network master switch assembly illuminate when the engine switch is turned on (IG). Check the LED illumination (power window regulator switch assembly). Check that the LED located in the power window regulator switch assembly illuminates when the engine switch is turned on (IG). Check the LED illumination (rear power window regulator switch assembly). Check that the LED located in each rear power window regulator switch assembly illuminates when the engine switch is turned on (IG).

- CUSTOMIZE POWER WINDOW CONTROL SYSTEM HINT: The following items can be customized. NOTE: When the customer requests a change in a function, first make sure that the function can be customized. Be sure to make notes of the current settings before customizing. When troubleshooting a function, first make sure that the function is set to the default setting. Customizing with the Techstream Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Turn the Techstream on. Enter the following menus: Customize Setting / Power Window. Select the setting by referring to the table below. Power Window Tester Display Description Default Setting ECU Door Key P/W Up This function is used to close the windows by operating the mechanical key. OFF 0:OFF, 1:ON Main body ECU (Multiplex network body ECU) Door Key P/W Down This function is used to open the windows by operating the mechanical key. INITIALIZATION [04/2013 - ]
- INITIALIZE POWER WINDOW CONTROL SYSTEM (ALL DOORS) NOTE: When a door window regulator assembly, power window regulator motor assembly, door glass or door glass run is reinstalled or replaced, the power window control system must be initialized. Functions such as the auto up and down function, jam protection function, remote control function, key-linked function, wireless transmitter-linked function, key-off operation function and window open warning function will not operate if initialization is not performed. When a power window regulator motor assembly is replaced, DTC B2313 is stored. Clear the DTC after initialization. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR [04/2013 - ]»(ref-665547-S06891713832014102400000) When performing initialization, do not perform any other procedures. When performing initialization, use the power window switch of each door to initialize each door window. If initialization does not complete properly, the LIN communication system may be malfunctioning. Refer to «HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [04/2013 - ]»(ref-665832-S17970494342014102400000) Make sure to park the vehicle and turn off all electrical systems before performing initialization. Initialization will be canceled if the vehicle is driven during initialization. Make sure not to hit, strike or vibrate the door window glass during initialization because the vehicle is learning the sliding resistance of the door window glass. Make sure not to turn the engine switch on (IG) or off during initialization. HINT: If the battery has been replaced, it is not necessary to initialize the power window regulator motor assembly. Perform initialization according to the table below. Condition of Power Window Proceed to Initialization method when a power window regulator motor assembly has been replaced with a new one. Procedure A Initialization method when a power window regulator motor assembly has been removed/installed or a door glass and/or door glass run etc. have been removed/installed or replaced with new ones. HINT: Use this procedure if a power window regulator motor assembly is being reused. Procedure B Initialization method when a reverse rotation malfunction occurs due to a sliding resistance change resulting from adjustment etc. Procedure C Procedure A Connect the battery and turn the engine switch on (IG). Fully open the power window by fully pushing down the multiplex network master switch assembly, power window regulator switch assembly or rear power window regulator switch assembly, and hold the switch for 1 second or more after the window is fully opened. Fully close the power window by fully pulling up the multiplex network master switch assembly, power window regulator switch assembly or rear power window regulator switch assembly, and hold the switch for 1 second or more after the power window is fully closed to reset the glass position and complete initialization. Procedure B Connect the battery and turn the engine switch on (IG). Fully close the power window by fully pulling up the multiplex network master switch assembly, power window regulator switch assembly or rear power window regulator switch assembly, and hold the switch for 6 seconds or more after the window is fully closed (if the power window does not move or stops halfway, even when the switch is fully pulled up, release the switch and fully pull it up again). Fully open the power window by fully pushing down the multiplex network master switch assembly, power window regulator switch assembly or rear power window regulator switch assembly, and hold the switch for 1 second or more after the power window is fully opened. Release the multiplex network master switch assembly, power window regulator switch assembly or rear power window regulator switch assembly. Then fully push down and hold the switch for 4 seconds or more. Fully close the power window by fully pulling up the multiplex network master switch assembly, power window regulator switch assembly or rear power window regulator switch assembly, and hold the switch for 1 second or more after the power window is fully closed to reset the glass position and complete initialization. Procedure C Connect the battery and turn the engine switch on (IG). Fully open the power window by fully pushing down the multiplex network master switch assembly, power window regulator switch assembly or rear power window regulator switch assembly, and hold the switch for 1 second or more after the power window is fully opened. Fully close the power window by fully pulling up the multiplex network master switch assembly, power window regulator switch assembly or rear power window regulator switch assembly, and hold the switch for 1 second or more after the power window is fully closed to reset the glass position and complete initialization.
FAIL-SAFE CHART [04/2013 - ]
- PULSE FAILURE OR DISPLACEMENT OF NON-DETECTION RANGE TO THE OPENING DIRECTION If the pulse sensor built into the power window regulator motor malfunctions, the power window control system enters fail-safe mode. As a result, the auto up / down function will return.
