  1. CHECK CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY) Disconnect the K6 and A13 certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) connectors. Measure the voltage and resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. HINT: Measure the values on the wire harness side with the connector disconnected. DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM [04/2013 - ]

  1. DESCRIPTION Smart access system with push-button start (for Start Function) data and Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) can be read through the Data Link Connector 3 (DLC3) of the vehicle. When the system seems to be malfunctioning, use the Techstream to check for malfunctions and perform repairs.
  2. CHECK DLC3 Check the DLC3. Refer to «GENERAL INFORMATION [04/2013 - ]»(ref-665529-S26412111322014102400000)
  3. INSPECT BATTERY VOLTAGE Measure the battery voltage. Standard Voltage 11 to 14 V If the voltage is below 11 V, recharge or replace the battery.

DTC CHECK / CLEAR [04/2013 - ]

Note. When using the Techstream with the engine switch off, connect the Techstream to the DLC3 and turn a courtesy light switch on and off at intervals of 1.5 seconds or less until communication between the Techstream and the vehicle begins. Then select the vehicle type under manual mode and enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Smart Access. While using the Techstream, periodically turn a courtesy light switch on and off at intervals of 1.5 seconds or less to maintain communication between the Techstream and the vehicle.

  1. CHECK FOR DTC (CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY) (POWER SOURCE CONTROL)) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Turn the Techstream on. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Power Source Control / Trouble Codes. Body Electrical > Power Source Control > Trouble Codes Check for DTCs.
  2. CHECK FOR DTC (CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY) (SMART ACCESS)) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Turn the Techstream on. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Smart Access / Trouble Codes. Body Electrical > Smart Access > Trouble Codes Check for DTCs.

  1. DATA LIST HINT: Using the Techstream to read the Data List allows the values or states of switches, sensors, actuators and other items to be read without removing any parts. This non-intrusive inspection can be very useful because intermittent conditions or signals may be discovered before parts or wiring is disturbed. Reading the Data List information early in troubleshooting is one way to save diagnostic time. NOTE: In the table below, the values listed under "Normal Condition" are reference values. Do not depend solely on these reference values when deciding whether a part is faulty or not. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Turn the Techstream on. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / (desired system) / Data List. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream. Body Electrical > Power Source Control > Data List Tester Display Measurement Item Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note Shift P Signal Shift position P OFF or ON OFF: Shift lever not in P ON: Shift lever in P Use this item to determine whether the shift lever position switch (P) is malfunctioning. Steering Unlock Switch State of steering unlock sensor signal output from steering lock ECU (steering lock actuator assembly) OFF or ON OFF: Steering locked ON: Steering unlocked When the shift lever is in P and the engine switch is off, if any door is opened or closed, the steering is locked. When the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly is in the cabin and the engine switch is turned on (ACC) or on (IG), the steering unlocks. The engine cannot be started when the steering unlock signal is off. Stop Light Switch1 State of brake pedal OFF or ON OFF: Brake pedal released ON: Brake pedal depressed Use this item to determine whether the stop light switch is malfunctioning. The engine cannot be started when this item is OFF. If the stop light switch is malfunctioning, the engine can be started by pressing and holding the engine switch for a certain period of time. Start Switch1 Engine switch 1 status OFF or ON OFF: Engine switch not pressed ON: Engine switch pressed If the engine switch is pressed for a short time, the display may not change. Use this item to determine whether the engine switch input signal is malfunctioning. Start Switch2 Engine switch 2 status OFF or ON OFF: Engine switch not pressed ON: Engine switch pressed Backup for engine switch 1. However, when the engine switch is pressed and held, the control functions only when both engine switch 1 and 2 are normal. Behaves the same way as engine switch 1. Neutral SW/ Clutch SW Shift position (P and N) OFF or ON OFF: Shift lever in any position other than P or N ON: Shift lever in P or N Use this item to determine whether the park/neutral start switch assembly is malfunctioning. When the engine cannot be started due to a park/neutral start switch assembly malfunction, OFF is displayed. Latch Circuit Status of IG related backup circuits OFF or ON OFF: Engine switch off ON: Engine switch on (IG) Displays in almost the same manner as the IG relay. When the engine switch is on (ACC), OFF is displayed. Starter Request Signal Engine start request signal status OFF or ON OFF: After approx. 1 second has elapsed, the engine switch is released ON: With the shift lever in P and the brake pedal depressed, the engine switch is pressed and held When the engine cannot be started due to a start request signal malfunction, OFF is displayed. When the engine switch is pressed, the duration of time that ON is displayed will be extremely short. As such, the engine switch needs to be pressed and held for a certain period of time. The certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) displays "Yes" for the "Key Low Battery" item of the Data List when this voltage information indicates 2.2 V or less.   2. ACTIVE TEST HINT: Using the Techstream to perform Active Tests allows relays, VSVs, actuators and other items to be operated without removing any parts. This non-intrusive functional inspection can be very useful because intermittent operation may be discovered before parts or wiring is disturbed. Performing Active Tests early in troubleshooting is one way to save diagnostic time. Data List information can be displayed while performing Active Tests. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Turn the Techstream on. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / (desired system) / Active Test. Perform Active Test according to the display on the Techstream.
