Scheme 4: ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION
- CHECK THROTTLE BODY Check the throttle control motor operating sounds. Turn the engine switch on (IG). When pressing the accelerator pedal, check the operating sound of the running motor. Make sure that no friction noises emit from the motor. If friction noise exists, replace the throttle body. Check the throttle position sensor. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Turn the Techstream main switch ON. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / Throttle Sensor Position and Throttle Sensor Position #2. Depress the accelerator pedal. When the throttle valve is fully opened, check that the value of the "Throttle Sensor Position" is within the specification. Standard throttle valve opening percentage 60% or more NOTE: When checking the standard throttle valve opening percentage, the shift lever should be in the N position. If the percentage is less than 60%, replace the throttle body.

- INSTALL THROTTLE BODY Install a new gasket to the intake air surge tank. HINT: Align the protrusion of the gasket on the intake air surge tank. Connect the 2 water by-pass hoses to the throttle body. Install the throttle body with the 4 bolts. Torque: 10 N*m ( 102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf) Connect the throttle motor connector.
- INSTALL AIR CLEANER CAP WITH AIR CLEANER HOSE Install the air cleaner cap with air cleaner hose assembly with the 4 clamps and hose clamp. HINT: Be sure to install the air cleaner assembly so that the screw part of the hose clamp is as shown in the illustration. Install the VSV hose to the air cleaner hose. Connect the MAF meter connector and clamp to the air cleaner.
- CONNECT NO. 2 VENTILATION HOSE Connect the ventilation hose to the cylinder head cover with the clamp.
- ADD ENGINE COOLANT . Refer to «ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION - Step 5»(/lexus/is/ii-facelift-2008-2010/remont/cooling-fan/#cooling-service-information-4gr-fse)
- INSPECT FOR COOLANT LEAK . Refer to «ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION - Step 1»(/lexus/is/ii-facelift-2008-2010/remont/cooling-system-mechanical/#cooling-inspection-4gr-fse)

- REMOVE ECM COVER Remove the 3 bolts and ECM cover. NOTE: Remove all water on and around the ECM cover. Perform the inspection indoors to avoid rain. Be sure to prevent water intrusion to the ECM (connectors and screw parts).
- REMOVE ECM Disconnect the ECM connectors. Using a screwdriver, disconnect the connector holder. Disconnect the 6 ECM connectors. Remove the 2 nuts and ECM.
Scheme 18
- INSTALL ECM Install the ECM to the ECM box. NOTE: Install the ECM on the ECM box with the name plate facing the inside of the vehicle. Make sure that there is no foreign matter on the gasket surface of the ECM box. Insert the stud bolt on the vehicle rear side to the ECM first. Make sure that stud bolts are securely installed into the front and rear bolt holes. Install the 2 nuts. Torque: 5.5 N*m ( 56 kgf*cm, 49 in.*lbf) NOTE: Be sure to first tighten the nut on the vehicle rear. Connect the ECM connectors. Connect the 6 ECM connectors. NOTE: Be sure to securely connect the connector. Connect the connector holder to the ECM box.
- INSTALL ECM COVER Install the ECM cover with the 3 bolts. Torque: 5.5 N*m ( 56 kgf*cm, 49 in.*lbf) NOTE: Make sure that the wire harness does not get caught between the parts.
- INSTALL ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH. Refer to «INSTALLATION - Step 116»(ref-387327-S10826489542011022400000)
- INSTALL COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL. Refer to «INSTALLATION - Step 118»(ref-387327-S10826489542011022400000)
- INITIALIZE ECM NOTE: After replacing the ECM on vehicles with a dynamic radar cruise control system, it is necessary to initialize the ECM so that the ECM can recognize the dynamic radar cruise control system. Be sure to perform the following procedures after replacing the ECM. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Turn the cruise main switch on. With the brake pedal depressed, push the cruise control main switch to RES/ACC 3 times within 3 seconds. Check that the buzzer sounds at this time. NOTE: Do not turn the headlight dimmer switch on at this time because the optical axis automatic adjustment mode has already started, which may lead to an incorrect optical axis setting. If the headlight dimmer switch is turned on by mistake, readjust the optical axis. Refer to «ADJUSTMENT»(ref-387354-S32330059292011022400000).
- REMOVE REGISTRATION NOTE: The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) must be input into the replacement ECM. Refer to «REGISTRATION»(ref-387359-S25697603602011022400000)
- SET ECM FOR W/ OPTIONAL DYNAMIC RADAR CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM NOTE: When replacing the ECM of vehicles with the optional dynamic radar cruise control system, it is necessary to set the ECM for this option. Be sure perform the following procedures after replacing the ECM. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Turn the cruise control main switch on. With the brake pedal depressed, set the cruise control main switch to RES/ACC 3 times within 3 seconds. Check that the buzzer sounds at this time. Turn the engine switch off. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the engine switch and Techstream main switch on. Select the item L/C Option Flag in the Date List. Check that YES is displayed.
