DESCRIPTION
The tire pressure warning valve and transmitters that are installed in the tire and wheel assemblies measure the air pressures of the tires. The measured values are transmitted to the tire pressure warning antenna on the body as radio waves and then sent to the tire pressure warning ECU and receiver. The ECU compares the measured air pressure values with the air pressure threshold. When the measured air pressure value is less than this threshold, the warning light in the combination meter comes on. The tire pressure warning valve and transmitter constantly sends radio waves to the tire pressure warning antenna.
Under the following conditions below, the tire pressure warning antenna is unable to receive the signals from the tire pressure warning valves and transmitters, and a DTC is output.
- Areas, facilities or devices that use similar radio frequencies are located in the vicinity of the vehicle.
- Devices using similar radio frequencies are used in the vehicle.
HINT
When no signals received for 30 minutes or more, a DTC is output.
DTCs C2121/21 to C2124/24 can only be cleared by using the tester. DTCs C2181/81 to C2184/84 can be cleared when the transmitter in the tire pressure warning valve and transmitter sends a forced transmission signal or test mode ends. DTCs C2181/81 to C2184/84 are output only in test mode.
When any of the DTCs from C2111/11 to C2114/14 are detected, DTCs from C2121/21 to C2124/24 will not output simultaneously.

- PERFORM FORCED TRANSMISSION OF TRANSMITTER ID OF 4 WHEELS Set the tire pressure to the specified value. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3. Turn the engine switch on (IG) and turn the tester ON. Select "Tire Inflation Pressure" by following the prompts displayed on the intelligent tester. The tire pressure warning valve and transmitters that are installed in the tire and wheel assemblies measure the air pressures of the tires. The ECU compares the measured air pressure values with the air pressure threshold. When the measured air pressure value is less than this threshold, the warning light in the combination meter comes on. When the internal circuit of the tire pressure warning valve and transmitter is defected, this DTC is output.

The tire pressure warning valve and transmitter measures internal temperature of tires as well as tire pressure, and transmits the information to the tire pressure warning ECU and receiver along with the transmitter ID. If the measured temperature is out of the specified range, the tire pressure warning ECU and receiver recognizes it as a malfunction, outputs DTCs, and blinks the tire pressure warning light.

Each ID of the tire pressure warning valve and transmitter is registered to the tire pressure warning ECU and receiver. When the ECU detects that the ID is not the one of registered IDs, or cannot receive the ID signal, a DTC is output.

The initialization procedure will start when the tire pressure warning reset switch is pressed for 3 seconds or more with the ignition switch in the ON position. The tire pressure warning ECU will register the tire pressure data by the signals from the tire pressure warning valve and transmitter, and start the tire pressure warning light blinking 3 times at 1 second intervals.

The tire pressure monitor ECU receives a speed signal from the combination meter. This DTC is stored upon entering the test mode, and cleared when a vehicle speed signal of 12 mph (20 km/h) is detected for 3 seconds or more. The DTC is output only in the test mode.

- CHECK TIRE PRESSURE WARNING RESET SWITCH FUNCTION Turn the engine switch on (IG). Check that the tire pressure warning light comes on for 3 seconds. Perform the tire pressure warning reset switch test in «TEST MODE PROCEDURE»(ref-235571-S13009307722006062400000). OK: Reset switch ON: Tire pressure warning light comes on. If the ECU detects trouble, the tire pressure warning light comes on and tire pressure monitor is cancelled at the same time. At this time, the ECU records a DTC in the memory.
Connect terminals TC and CG of the DLC3 to make the tire pressure warning light blink and output the DTC.

Note. It is necessary to perform initialization (See INITIALIZATION ) after registration (See HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING ) of the transmitter IDs into the tire pressure warning ECU and receiver after the ECU or valve and transmitter has been replaced.
HINT
This procedure must be performed according to the PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE.
This circuit supplies power to the tire pressure warning ECU and receiver. The power is also supplied to the tire pressure warning antenna via the ECU.
The tire pressure warning system is terminated when the system has a defect of this circuit. At this time, the tire pressure warning light on the combination meter will come on.

- INSPECT TIRE PRESSURE WARNING ECU AND RECEIVER Remove the tire pressure monitor ECU and receiver with the connectors being connected. Turn the engine switch on. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in «VOLTAGE CONDITION TABLE»(ref-235571-S03932147462006062400000). DTC output mode is set by connecting terminals TC and CG of the DLC3.
The DTCs are displayed by blinking the tire pressure warning light.
