SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
- FRONT POWER SEAT CONTROL SYSTEM DESCRIPTION The driver seat and front passenger seat are equipped with slide, reclining, lifter, front vertical, and lumbar support adjustment functions. The memory system for the front seats is optional. With the memory function, the front power seat switch (position control ECU) performs the following: 1) controls the slide, reclining, lifter, and front vertical motors; 2) memorizes the seat position; and 3) operates the seat restoring operation. The memory call function uses the key ID code of the electrical key to memorize and reproduce the appropriate driving position for each individual who possesses an electrical key.

Front power seat switch (reclining, lifter, slide, front vertical) Based on switches operated, seat adjuster signals are input in the position control ECU and the seat is adjusted accordingly. Lumbar front power seat switch Based on switches operated, the seat is adjusted accordingly. Seat memory switch LH (driver side) (SET switch, memory switch) When the SET switch and M1, M2, or M3 switch are pressed simultaneously, a signal is input to the outer mirror control ECU LH and sent to the position control ECU, which records the seat position, steering wheel position (tilt & telescopic), and outer mirror position (RH and LH). When the M1, M2, or M3 switch is pressed, a signal is input to the outer mirror control ECU LH and sent to the position control ECU, which changes the seat position, steering wheel position (tilt & telescopic), and outer mirror position (RH and LH) to each recorded position. Seat memory switch RH (passenger side) (SET switch, memory switch) When the SET switch and M1, M2, or M3 switch are pressed simultaneously, a signal is input to the outer mirror control ECU RH and sent to the position control ECU, which records the seat position. When the M1, M2, or M3 switch is pressed, a signal is input to the outer mirror control ECU RH and sent to the position control ECU, which changes the seat position to the recorded position.
- SYSTEM OPERATION The front power seat adjustment and position memory are shown in the chart below. For the passenger side memory function, memory switch operation is first transferred from the outer mirror control ECU RH to the front power seat switch RH (position control ECU) via the multiplex communication line. Then, either the seat position is stored in memory or a previously stored seat position is recalled.
DESCRIPTION
When the power seat control switch is operated, a command signal is sent to the front power seat switch LH (position control ECU). The front power seat switch LH (position control ECU) then controls the appropriate seat motor as needed. This memory system does not use a seat position sensor. The seat position is detected by counting pulses that are output when the motor turns. If there is no pulse output from the motor, the motor will stop operating. The front power seat switch LH (position control ECU) is designed so that any malfunction of the seat memory system will not interfere with manual seat control. If the front power seat switch LH (position control ECU) detects a low motor speed, abnormal activity, or sudden motor current fluctuation, the system will stop the motor. If the motor operates continuously for 120 seconds or more, the system will stop the motor until the switch is turned on again.

The seat memory switch LH sends signals to the outer mirror control ECU LH via the multiplex communication system to memorize a given seat position. This memory system does not use a position sensor. The seat position is detected by counting pulses that are output when the motor turns. If there is no pulse output from the motor, the motor will stop operating. The seat memory switch LH is later used to send signals to the front power seat switch LH (position control ECU) to return the seat to one of the memorized positions.
- A/T: The power seat memory switch LH operation can be performed only when the engine switch is on (IG) and the shift lever is in the P position.
- M/T: The power seat memory switch LH operation can be performed only when the engine switch is on (IG), apply the parking brake, and seat the vehicle speed below 3 km/h (1.9 mph).

The driver side position control ECU is contained in the front power seat switch LH.
During manual operation, only one switch signal is accepted. If signals are input from 2 or more switches simultaneously, all of them are ignored, except when signals are input from the front vertical switch and lifter switch simultaneously. In this case, the signal from the lifter switch will operate.
During automatic operation, a manual switch input will override any other operations, i.e. automatic operations will stop and the manual input operation only will be accepted. For example, if a manual switch input is activated during a seat store/restore operation, the previous operation will cease and manual operation will be performed. After the manual operation is performed, the previous automatic operation will not resume.
The power mirror store/restore operation is unaffected by manual switch inputs.
The front power seat switch does not allow the restore operation of the power seat when the system detects that the voltage of terminal SYSB is less than 8.0 +- 0.5 V for 30 msec. or is more than 10 +- 0.5 V for 30 msec.
This circuit is the power source circuit for the front power seat switch LH (position control ECU).
HINT
- Manual adjustment of the slide, reclining, or lumbar can be performed even when the front power seat switch LH is not functional if current is allowed to flow into terminals +B and SYSB.
Lumbar support operation can be performed at all times.

The front passenger side position control ECU is contained in the front power seat switch RH.

- GENERAL DESCRIPTION By operating the seat heater switch, which is located in the console box, the temperature can be controlled within the range of 30 to 40°C (86 to 104°F). The seat heater switch indicator light provides seat heater on/off status. The seat heaters of both seats are controlled by the seat heater controls. Which are located under the respective seat.

PROBLEM SYMPTOMS CHART
- GENERAL The blower volume has 4 levels controlled by operating the dial-type climate control seat switch, which is located in the console box. Whether the blower is ON or OFF can be determined by checking if the climate control seat switch indicator light is ON or OFF. The blowers of both seats are controlled by the air conditioning amplifier assembly (A/C ECU).
The A/C amplifier assembly receives seat position signals when the engine switch is on (IG), and then transmits airflow amount signals to each seat climate blower.

- REMOVE FRONT SEAT HEADREST ASSEMBLY
- REMOVE FRONT INNER SEAT TRACK BRACKET COVER Move the front seat assembly to the rearmost position by operating the slide handle. Using a screwdriver, disengage the 2 claws and remove the front inner seat track bracket cover. HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- REMOVE FRONT OUTER SEAT TRACK BRACKET COVER Using a screwdriver, disengage the 2 claws and remove the front outer seat track bracket cover. HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- REMOVE REAR OUTER SEAT TRACK COVER Move the front seat assembly fully forward by operating the slide handle. Using a screwdriver, disengage the 2 claws and remove the rear seat outer track bracket cover. HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- REMOVE REAR INNER SEAT TRACK COVER Using a screwdriver, disengage the 2 claws and remove the rear inner seat track bracket cover. HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY Move the front seat assembly to the rearmost position by operating the slide handle. Remove the 2 bolts on the front seat track bracket. Move the front seat assembly fully forward by operating the slide handle. Remove the 2 bolts on the rear seat track bracket. Move the front seat assembly to the center position and adjust the seatback to the vertical position by operating the slide and reclining adjuster release handle. Disconnect the connectors and clamp. Remove the front seat assembly. NOTE: When removing the passenger side front seat assembly, be careful not to step on the yaw rate sensor mounted on the floor under the seat.

- REMOVE VERTICAL SEAT ADJUSTER KNOB (for Driver Seat) Remove the snap ring and the vertical seat adjuster knob.
- REMOVE VERTICAL SEAT ADJUSTER KNOB CAP (for Driver Seat) Using a screwdriver, disengage the 3 claws and remove the vertical seat adjuster knob cap. HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- REMOVE VERTICAL ADJUSTING HANDLE (for Driver Seat) Remove the 2 screws and vertical adjusting handle.
- REMOVE RECLINING ADJUSTER RELEASE HANDLE Lift the reclining adjuster release handle. Using a screwdriver, disengage the claw and remove the reclining adjuster release handle. HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- REMOVE FRONT SEAT CUSHION SHIELD (for Driver Seat) Remove the screw. Disengage the claw and clamp and remove the seat cushion shield.
- REMOVE FRONT INNER SEAT BELT ASSEMBLY (See «REMOVAL»(ref-235573-S11624302162006062400000) )
- REMOVE FRONT INNER SEAT CUSHION SHIELD Remove the screw. Disengage the 2 claws and clip then remove the front inner seat cushion shield.
- REMOVE FRONT SEAT CUSHION COVER WITH PAD Passenger seat only: Separate the belt warning occupant detection sensor. Disengage the 2 hooks. Disengage the hooks and remove the front seat cushion cover with pad.
- REMOVE FRONT SEAT CUSHION COVER Remove the hog rings. Remove the hog rings and front seat cushion cover.
- REMOVE FRONT SEAT CUSHION HEATER ASSEMBLY (w/ Seat Heater System) Cut off the tack pins that fasten the seat heater, and then remove the front seat cushion heater assembly from the seat cushion cover.
- REMOVE FRONT SEAT HEADREST SUPPORT Open the 2 zippers and seatback cover. Disengage the 2 claws and remove the front seat headrest support.
- REMOVE FRONT SEAT HEADREST SUPPORT
- REMOVE FRONT SEATBACK COVER WITH PAD Remove the hog rings and disengage the hooks. Remove the nut and separate the bracket. Remove the front seatback cover with pad.
- REMOVE FRONT SEPARATE TYPE SEAT BACK COVER Remove the hog rings and front separate type seat back cover.
- REMOVE FRONT SEAT BACK HEATER ASSEMBLY (w/ Seat Heater System) Cut off the tack pins that fasten the seat heater, and then remove the front seat cushion heater assembly from the seat cushion cover.
- REMOVE SEAT RECLINING ADJUSTER INSIDE COVER LH Remove the screw. Disengage the claw and remove the seat reclining adjuster inside cover LH.

- INSTALL FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSEMBLY (See «INSTALLATION»(ref-235573-S03807630332006062400000) )
- INSTALL FRONT SEAT CUSHION SHIELD (for Driver Seat) Engage the claw and clip. Install the front seat cushion shield with the screw.
- INSTALL RECLINING ADJUSTER RELEASE HANDLE Engage the claw and install the reclining adjuster release handle.
- INSTALL VERTICAL ADJUSTING HANDLE (for Driver Seat) Install the vertical adjusting handle with the 2 screws.
- INSTALL VERTICAL SEAT ADJUSTER KNOB CAP (for Driver Seat) Engage the 3 claws and install the vertical seat adjuster knob cap.
- INSTALL VERTICAL SEAT ADJUSTER KNOB (for Driver Seat)

- INSTALL FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY Place the front seat assembly in the vehicle and align the adjuster pin with the hole on the vehicle side. NOTE: When installing the passenger side front seat assembly, be careful not to step on the yaw rate sensor mounted on the floor under the seat. Connect the connector. Move the front seat assembly to the rearmost position by operating the slide handle. NOTE: Check that the seat is locked. Temporarily install the front seat track bracket with the 2 bolts. Move the front seat assembly fully forward by operating the slide handle. NOTE: Check that the seat is locked. Temporarily install the rear seat track bracket with the 2 bolts. Move the front seat assembly to the rearmost position by operating the slide handle. NOTE: Check that the seat is locked. Fully tighten the 2 bolts on the front seat track bracket in the order of the inner side bolt and then the outer side bolt. Torque: 37 N*m (377 kgf*cm, 27 ft.*lbf) Move the front seat assembly fully forward by operating the slide handle. NOTE: Check that the seat is locked. Fully tighten the 2 bolts on the rear seat track bracket in the order of the inner side bolt and then the outer side bolt. Torque: 37 N*m (377 kgf*cm, 27 ft.*lbf)
- INSTALL REAR INNER SEAT TRACK BRACKET COVER LH Engage the 2 claws and install the rear inner seat track bracket cover.
- INSTALL REAR OUTER SEAT TRACK BRACKET COVER LH Engage the 2 claws and install the rear outer seat track bracket cover.
- INSTALL FRONT OUTER SEAT TRACK BRACKET COVER LH Engage the 2 claws and install the front outer seat track bracket cover.
- INSTALL FRONT INNER SEAT TRACK BRACKET COVER LH Engage the 2 claws and install the front inner seat track bracket cover.
- INSTALL FRONT SEAT HEADREST ASSEMBLY
- CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
- PERFORM INITIALIZATION NOTE: Some systems need initialization when disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal (See «INITIALIZATION»(ref-235541-S32349848442006062400000) ).
- INSPECT SLIDE ADJUSTER LOCK
- INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT Check the SRS warning light (See «DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM»(ref-235542-S25406180262006062400000) )
