SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

The seat belt tension reducer is adopted to the front seat belts. This mechanism can help reduce the belt tension applied to the occupants in the front seats when the seat belts are fastened.

  1. Driver seat belt warning light When the driver seat belt is not fastened with the engine switch on (IG), the driver seat belt warning light on the combination meter assembly comes on to inform the driver. The center airbag assembly detects the driver seat belt status and sends signals to the combination meter assembly through CAN & BEAN.
  2. Passenger seat belt warning with navigation system: When the passenger seat belt is not fastened with the engine switch on (IG) and the passenger seat occupied, check that the passenger seat belt warning light on the multimedia module display blinks. The combination meter assembly detects the passenger seat belt status and whether the passenger seat is occupied. without navigation system: When the passenger seat belt is not fastened with the engine switch on (IG) and the passenger seat occupied, check that the passenger seat belt warning light on the integration control & panel blinks. The combination meter assembly detects the passenger seat belt status and whether the passenger seat is occupied.

DESCRIPTION

When the engine switch is on (IG), the center airbag sensor assembly transmits front seat inner belt state signals to the combination meter assembly though the CAN and BEAN. If the driver seat belt is not fastened, the combination meter assembly blinks the driver seat belt warning light. If the seat belt is fastened, the warning light goes off.

Note. The seat belt warning system uses the CAN and BEAN. Before troubleshooting the seat belt warning system, perform "COMMUNICATION FUNCTION CHECK" by following HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING to confirm that the communication systems are normal.

with Navigation System

The combination meter assembly detects the state of the front seat inner belt assembly RH when the front passenger seat is occupied with the engine switch on (IG). If the front passenger seat belt is not fastened, the front seat belt warning light on the multimedia module display blinks. If the seat belt is fastened, the warning light goes off.

without Navigation System

The combination meter assembly detects the state of the front seat inner belt assembly RH when the front passenger seat is occupied with the engine switch on (IG). If the front passenger seat belt is not fastened, the front seat belt warning light on the integration control & panel assembly blinks. If the seat belt is fastened, the warning light goes off.

  1. INSTALL FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY Check the degree of tilt when the ELR begins to lock. Check that the belt does not lock at less than 15 degrees of tilt in any direction but locks at over 45 degrees of tilt while gently pulling the belt. NOTE: Do not disassemble the retractor. Temporarily install the front seat outer belt assembly with the 2 bolts. Fully tighten the upper side bolt first, then the lower side bolt to install the front seat outer belt assembly. Torque: For upper bolt 7.5 N*m (77 kgf*cm, 66 in.*lbf) For lower bolt 42 N*m (428 kgf*cm, 31 ft.*lbf) Connect the pretensioner connector and lock the locking button. NOTE: Securely lock the locking button. Connect the connectors. Install the shoulder anchor of the front seat outer belt assembly with the nut. Torque: 42 N*m (428 kgf*cm, 31 ft.*lbf)
  2. INSTALL CENTER PILLAR GARNISH (See Step 30 in «INSTALLATION»(ref-235599-S41342360772006062400000) )
  3. INSTALL LOWER CENTER PILLAR GARNISH (See Step 32 in «INSTALLATION»(ref-235599-S41342360772006062400000) )
  4. INSTALL REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE (See Step 37 in «INSTALLATION»(ref-235599-S41342360772006062400000) )
  5. INSTALL FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE (w/o Illumination) (See Step 88 in «INSTALLATION»(ref-235599-S41342360772006062400000) )

  7. CONNECT FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY Install the floor end of the front seat outer belt assembly with the bolt. Torque: 42 N*m (428 kgf*cm, 31 ft.*lbf) Check if the ELR locks. NOTE: The check should be performed with the outer belt assembly installed. With the belt assembly installed, check that the belt locks when it is pulled out quickly.
  8. INSTALL LAP BELT OUTER ANCHOR COVER Engage the 3 claws to install the lap belt outer anchor cover.
