ELECTRO CHROMIC INNER MIRROR
Pushing the switch changes the mode between AUTO and DAY. The indicator comes on when the AUTO mode is selected.
- DAY Mode - The mirror surface is normal.
- AUTO Mode - If the mirror detects light from the headlights of the vehicle behind you, the mirror surface darkens slightly to reduce the reflected light.
When the inside rear view mirror surface changes, the outside side view mirror surfaces will also become darker. When the ignition key is inserted and turned on, the inside rear view mirror always turns on in the AUTO mode. When the outside air temperature is low, it may take a little longer for the mirror to darken in response to the detection of headlights.
Compass
The compass indicates the direction in which the vehicle is heading. Pushing the AUTO button for longer than 3 seconds turns on or off the compass display. The compass may not show the correct direction in the following conditions
- The vehicle is stopped immediately after turning. The compass does not adjust while the vehicle is stopped.
- The ignition switch is turned off immediately after turning.
- The vehicle is on an inclined surface.
- The vehicle is in a place where the earth's magnetic field is subject to interference by artificial magnetic fields (underground parking, under a steel tower, between buildings, roof parking, near a crossing, near a large vehicle, etc.).
- The vehicle is magnetized (there is a magnet or a metal object near the inside rear view mirror).
- The battery has been disconnected.
- Any door is open.
The compass works to calibrate the direction automatically while the vehicle is in motion, if deviation is small.
POWER MIRROR SWITCH
To adjust the power side view mirror, first place the master switch at L (left) or R (right), and push the control switch on the desired side. The power side view mirror can be adjusted when the key is in the ACC or ON position.
ELECTRO CHROMIC INNER MIRROR CIRCUIT
Inspect the electro chromic inner mirror circuit. Disconnect the connector from the mirror and inspect the connector on the wiring harness side. See CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . See INSPECTING ELECTRO CHROMIC INNER MIRROR CIRCUIT table. If the circuit is not as specified, inspect the circuits connected to other parts.
| Tester Connection | Condition | Specified Condition |
|---|---|---|
| 4 - Ground | Constant | Continuity |
| 1 - Ground | Ignition Switch LOCK Or ACC | No Voltage |
| 1 - Ground | Ignition Switch ON | B+ Voltage |
INSPECTING ELECTRO CHROMIC INNER MIRROR CIRCUIT
- Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal No. 1 and the negative (-) lead to terminal No. 4. See «CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION»(ref-154820-S37027691642003052800000) .
- Connect the positive (+) lead from the voltmeter to terminal No. 2 and the negative (-) lead to terminal No. 3.
- Attach black colored tape to the forward sensor to prevent it from sensing.
- When the mode is turned to AUTO, check that the indicator light lights up.
- Light up the mirror with an electric light and check that there is battery positive voltage and mirror surface changes bright to dark.
- If operation is not as specified, replace the inner mirror. See «INNER REAR VIEW MIRROR»(ref-154820-S35154954202003052800000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
ELECTRO CHROMIC OUTER MIRROR
- Disconnect the outer mirror connector.
- Connect the positive (+) lead from the dry cell battery to terminal No. 4 and the negative (-) lead to terminal No. 5, then check that the mirror surface changes to dark. See «CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION»(ref-154820-S37027691642003052800000) .
- Check that the mirror turns to bright after disconnecting the battery.
- If operation is not as specified, replace the mirror assembly. See «OUTER SIDE VIEW MIRROR»(ref-154820-S01075250282003052800000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
POWER MIRROR MOTOR
- Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal No. 8 and the negative (-) lead to terminal No. 7, and check that the mirror turns to the upward. See «CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION»(ref-154820-S37027691642003052800000) .
- Reverse the polarity, and check that the mirror turns to the downward.
- Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal No. 6 and the negative (-) lead to terminal No. 7, and check that the mirror turns to the inside.
- Reverse the polarity, and check that the mirror turns outside.
- If operation is not as specified, replace the mirror assembly. See «OUTER SIDE VIEW MIRROR»(ref-154820-S01075250282003052800000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Left/Right Adjustment Switch (Left Side) - Inspect the mirror switch continuity. See «CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION»(ref-154820-S37027691642003052800000) . See «INSPECTING MIRROR SWITCH CONTINUITY (LEFT SIDE)»(ref-154820-S37694934932003052800000) table. If continuity is not as specified, replace the switch.
