INSTALLATION

  1. INSTALL MASS AIR FLOW METER Install the mass air flow meter with the 2 screws. Connect the mass air flow meter connector.

Scheme 224: INSPECTION
  1. INSPECT CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard Resistance Temperature Specified Condition Cold 835 to 1400 ohms Hot 1060 to 1645 NOTE: "Cold" and "Hot" mean the temperature of the coils themselves. "Cold" is from -10 to 50°C (14 to 122°F) and "Hot" is from 50 to 100°C (122 to 212°F). If the result is not as specified, replace the camshaft position sensor.

  1. INSTALL CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR Apply a light coat of engine oil to the O-ring of the sensor. TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *1 O-ring NOTE: Make sure that the O-ring is not cracked or jammed when installing it. Install the camshaft position sensor with the bolt. Torque: 6.5 N*m (66 kgf*cm, 57 in.*lbf) Connect the camshaft position sensor connector.

  1. REMOVE ELECTRIC INVERTER COMPRESSOR Remove the electric inverter compressor. Refer to «REMOVAL - Step 1»(ref-398224-S38204577302011051600000) .
  2. REMOVE V-RIBBED BELT Remove the V-ribbed belt. Refer to «REMOVAL - Step 1»(ref-398215-S23549445162011051600000) .
  3. REMOVE V-RIBBED BELT TENSIONER ASSEMBLY . Refer to «REMOVAL - Step 4»(ref-398215-S12657249032011051600000)
  4. REMOVE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR Disconnect the crankshaft position sensor connector. Remove the connector clamp and wire harness clamp. Remove the wire harness clamp bracket from the wire harness. Remove the bolt, and then remove the crankshaft position sensor.
  1. INSTALL SPARK PLUG Install the 4 spark plugs. Torque: 19 N*m (194 kgf*cm, 14 ft.*lbf)
  2. INSTALL IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY Install the 4 ignition coils with the 4 bolts. Torque: 9.0 N*m (92 kgf*cm, 80 in.*lbf) Connect the 4 ignition coil connectors.
  3. INSTALL NO. 1 ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY . Refer to «INSTALLATION - Step 95»(ref-398215-S14438457332011051600000)

  11. SEPARATE ENGINE WIRE Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the 2 ground cables. Disconnect the 4 connectors. Disconnect the connector clamp from the bracket.
  12. REMOVE ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR Using SST, remove the engine coolant temperature sensor and gasket. SST: 09023-12900

  1. INSPECT ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals. TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *1 Resistance kohms *2 Temperature °C (°F) Standard Resistance Condition Specified Condition 20°C (68°F) 2.32 to 2.59 kohms 80°C (176°F) 0.310 to 0.326 kohms If the result is not as specified, replace the sensor. NOTE: In case of checking the water temperature sensor in water, do not allow water to contact the terminals. After checking, dry the sensor.

  1. INSTALL ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR Install a new gasket onto the engine coolant temperature sensor. Using SST, install the engine coolant temperature sensor. TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *1 Fulcrum Length 30 mm *2 Fulcrum Length 180 mm SST: 09023-12900 without SST Torque: 20 N*m (200 kgf*cm, 14 ft.*lbf) with SST Torque: 17 N*m (171 kgf*cm, 12 ft.*lbf) NOTE: The "with SST" torque value is effective when using SST with a fulcrum length of 30 mm (1.18 in.). The "with SST" torque value is effective when using a torque wrench with a fulcrum length of 180 mm (7.09 in.). This torque value is effective when SST is parallel to the torque wrench. Refer to «PRECAUTION»(ref-398089-S41696268642011051600000) . Connect the engine coolant temperature sensor connector.
  2. INSTALL ENGINE WIRE Install the connector clamp from the bracket. Connect the 4 connectors. Install the 2 bolts and disconnect the 2 ground cables.
  3. INSTALL AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY . Refer to «INSTALLATION - Step 48»(ref-398215-S14438457332011051600000)

  1. REMOVE INTAKE MANIFOLD Remove the intake manifold. Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-398234-S24320345052011051600000) .
  2. REMOVE KNOCK SENSOR Disconnect the knock sensor connector. Remove the nut and knock sensor.
  1. INSTALL NO. 1 INTEGRATION RELAY Connect the 3 connectors. Attach the No. 1 integration relay to the engine room relay block.
  2. INSTALL NO. 1 RELAY BLOCK COVER
