- REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER SUB-ASSY (SEE «WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR ASSY»(ref-228803-S23150430692006041100000) ) Remove the 2 front wiper arm covers. Remove the FR wiper arm LH. Remove the FR wiper arm RH. Remove the front fender to the cowl side seal LH. Remove the front fender to the cowl side seal RH. Remove the cowl top ventilator louver.

- REMOVE WINDSHIELD MOLDING OUTER UPPER Using a knife, cut off the molding (Scheme 78) NOTE: Do not damage the body with the knife. Remove the remaining molding. HINT: When removing, partially cut, pull and remove it by hand.
- REMOVE WINDSHIELD GLASS Pass a piano wire between the body and glass from the interior. Tie both wire ends to wooden blocks or similar objects. HINT: Apply protective tape to the outer surface to prevent the surface from being scratched. NOTE: When separating the glass, take care not to damage the paint and the interior and exterior ornaments. To prevent the safety pad from being scratched when removing the glass, place a plastic sheet between the piano wire and safety pad. Cut off the adhesive by pulling the piano wire around the glass. Disengage the stoppers. Using a suction cup, remove the glass. NOTE: Leave as much adhesive on the body as possible when removing the glass.
- CLEAN WINDSHIELD GLASS Using a scraper, remove the damaged stoppers, dam and adhesive sticking to the glass. Clean the outer circumference of the glass with white gasoline. NOTE: Do not touch the glass surface after cleaning it. Be careful not to damage the body.
- INSTALL WINDSHIELD GLASS STOPPER NO.2 Coat the installation part of the stopper with Primer G. NOTE: Allow the primer coating to dry for 3 minutes or more. Do not keep any of the opened Primer G for later use. Do not apply too much primer. Install 2 new windshield glass stoppers onto the glass (Scheme 82) Dimension: DIMENSION SPECIFICATION A 40.0 mm (1.575 in.) B 7.8 mm (0.307 in.)
- INSTALL WINDSHIELD GLASS STOPPER NO.1 Install 2 new windshield glass stoppers to the body (Scheme 83)
- INSTALL WINDOW GLASS ADHESIVE DAM Coat the installation part of the window glass adhesive dam with Primer G. NOTE: Allow the primer coating to dry for 3 minutes or more. Do not apply too much primer. Install new dam applying double-sided tape all the way around the glass except where the dam is installed (Scheme 84) Dimensions: DIMENSION SPECIFICATION C 9.5 mm (0.374 in.) D 31.4 mm (1.236 in.)
- INSTALL WINDSHIELD MOLDING OUTER UPPER Using a brush or sponge, coat the edge of the glass and the contact surface with Primer G. NOTE: Allow the primer coating to dry for 3 minutes or more. Do not coat the adhesive with Primer G. Do not keep any of the opened Primer G for later use. Install the windshield molding outer upper.
- INSTALL WINDSHIELD GLASS Clean and shape the contact surface of the vehicle body. Using a knife, cut away any rough adhesive on the contact surface of the body to ensure the appropriate surface shape. HINT: Leave as much adhesive on the body as possible. Clean the contact surface of the body with a piece of shop rag saturated with cleaner. HINT: Even if all the adhesive has been removed, clean the body. Position the glass. Using a suction cup, place the glass in the correct position. Check that the whole contact surface of the glass rim is perfectly even. Place reference marks between the glass and body. NOTE: Check that the stoppers are attached to the body correctly. HINT: When reusing the glass, check and correct the reference mark positions. Remove the glass. Using a brush, coat the exposed part of the body on the vehicle side with Primer M. NOTE: Allow the primer coating to dry for 3 minutes or more. Do not coat the adhesive with Primer M. Do not keep any of the opened Primer M for later use. Using a brush or sponge, coat the edge of the glass and the contact surface with Primer G. HINT: If an area other than that specified is coated by accident, wipe off the primer with a clean shop rag before it dries. NOTE: Allow the primer coating to dry for 3 minutes or more. Do not keep any of the opened Primer G for later use. Apply adhesive. Adhesive: Part No. 08850-00801 or equivalent Cut off the tip of the cartridge nozzle (Scheme 89) HINT: After cutting off the tip, use all adhesive within the time described in «TEMPERATURE SPECIFICATION»(ref-228806-S36986035782006041100000). Check that the stoppers are attached to the body correctly. Check the clearance between the body and glass. Lightly press the front surface of the glass to ensure a close fit. Using a scraper, remove any excess or protruding adhesive. HINT: Apply adhesive onto the glass rim. NOTE: The vehicle should not be driven until the time indicated in «TEMPERATURE SPECIFICATION»(ref-228806-S42158160822006041100000) has elapsed. - INSTALL RAIN SENSOR (W/ RAIN SENSOR) If reusing the rain sensor: Install the new rain sensor tape. Remove the used rain sensor tape from the windshield glass or rain sensor. Apply the new rain sensor tape on the lens surface of the rain sensor indicated by the hatched area. NOTE: Make sure that no dust or fingerprints are on the tape surface. Apply the tape securely. Install the rain sensor. NOTE: If reusing the windshield: Check that no rain sensor tape remains on the windshield after removing the rain sensor. If tape remains, remove it. Clean the glass face with a shop rag, etc.
- INSPECT FOR LEAKS AND REPAIR Conduct a leak test after the adhesive has completely hardened. Seal any leaks with auto glass sealer.

- INSPECT BACK WINDOW (DEFOGGER WIRE) NOTE: When cleaning the glass, wipe the glass along the wire using a soft and dry cloth. Take care not to damage the wires. Do not use detergents or glass cleaners including abrasive ingredients. When measuring voltage, wrap a piece of tin foil around the tip of the negative probe and press the foil against the wire with your finger (Scheme 119) Turn the ignition switch ON. Turn the defogger switch ON. Inspect the voltage at the center of each heat wire (Scheme 120) Standard: VOLTAGE CRITERIA TABLE Voltage Criteria Approx. 5 V OK, wire is not broken Approx. 10 V or 0 V Wire is broken HINT: If there is approximately 10 V, the wire may be broken between the center of the wire and the positive (+) end. If there is no voltage, the wire may be broken between the center of the wire and the ground. Place the voltmeter positive (+) lead against the defogger wire on the battery side. Place the voltmeter negative (-) lead with the foil strip against the wire on the ground side. Slide the positive (+) lead from the battery side to the ground side. The point where the voltmeter drops from several volts to 0 V is the place where the defogger wire is broken. HINT: If the defogger wire is not broken, the voltmeter indicates 0 V at the positive (+) end of the defogger wire but gradually increases to about 12 V as the meter probe moves to the other end. If necessary, repair the defogger wire. Clean the broken wire tips with grease, wax and silicone remover. Place the masking tape along the both sides of the wire. Thoroughly mix the repair agent (DuPont paste No. 4817). Using a fine tip brush, apply a small amount of the agent to the wire. After a few minutes, remove the masking tape. NOTE: Do not repair the defogger wire for at least 24 hours.
- INSPECT DEFOGGER RELAY (Marking: DEFOG) Inspect the continuity. Standard: If the result is not as specified, replace the relay.
- INSPECT HEATER MIRROR RELAY (W/ OUTER MIRROR HEATER) (Marking: MIR HTR) Inspect the continuity. - CHECK MEMORY AND REACTIVATION FUNCTION Turn the ignition switch ON and move the shift lever into the P range. Move the seat into the foremost position and uppermost position using each seat switch. Check that the buzzer sounds for 0.5 second and the seat position is recorded when the M1 switch is pressed while the SET switch is held down. Move the seat out of the foremost position and uppermost position using each seat switch. Check that the buzzer sounds for 0.5 second and the seat position is recorded when the M2 switch is pressed while the SET switch is held down. Check that the buzzer sounds for 0.1 second and the seat automatically moves into the foremost position and uppermost position (set positions) when the M1 switch is pressed. Check that the buzzer sounds for 0.1 second and the seat automatically moves out of the foremost position and uppermost position (set positions) when the M2 switch is pressed. Check that the seat automatically moves into the set position when the M1 or M2 switch is pressed within 30 seconds after the ignition switch is turned OFF, the key is pulled out from the key cylinder and the driver side door is opened. Move the seat into the maximum positions of the slide movement, and disconnect the negative terminal of the battery while the memory switch is in the ON position. Then leave the seat in the position for 3 minutes. The seat position memory will be erased. Move the seat into all the maximum positions (front/rear and up/down) using each seat switch. Check that the seat does not move (the seat position is not recorded) when the M1 switch or the M2 switch is pressed, after the M1 switch and M2 switch are pressed at one time while the SET switch is held down.
- INSPECT REVERSE-SHIFT-LINKED OPERATION OF MIRRORS Set the left/right adjustment switch in the L or R position. Check that the mirror face returns to the opposite position (downward) when the shift lever is moved into the R range.

- SELECT COMPASS DISPLAY MODE The comp switch allows you to select the Display or Non-display mode of the compass.
- SET ZONE Deviation between the "magnetic north" and "actual north" differs depending on the location. Therefore, adjustment of the magnetism is required. Since the magnetic condition differs depending on the area where the vehicle is used, it is necessary for each user to set the zone (Scheme 144) The zone setting can be changed using the comp switch of the inner mirror.
- PERFORM CALIBRATION Because each vehicle has its own magnetic field, calibration should be performed for each vehicle. This compass function is used when storing the record of the vehicle's magnetic field.
- WHEN COMPASS IS MAGNETIZED: A compass could be magnetized during shipping by vessels or freight. Therefore, make sure to perform calibration and ensure that calibration is performed properly before delivery. If it cannot be done (cannot be completed in spite of driving around several times), it may be caused by magnetization. Demagnetize the vehicle using a demagnetizer and perform calibration again.
- SET COMPASS
- ZONE SETTING MODE Pressing the comp switch for 3 seconds in the normal mode, will activate the zone setting mode. A number (1 - 15) is displayed on the compass display. HINT: In the initial state, "8" is displayed. The displayed number increases by 1 every time the comp switch is pressed. Referring to the map, check the number for the area where the vehicle will be used and set the zone number. Leave it untouched for several seconds after setting and check that the compass display shows an azimuthal direction (N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W or NW) or "C".
- CALIBRATION SETTING MODE Pressing the comp switch for 6 seconds in the normal mode, will also activate the calibration setting mode. Drive the vehicle at a slow speed of 8 km/h (5 mph) or less in the circular direction. Driving around the circle 1 to 3 times will display the azimuthal direction on the display, completing the calibration. HINT: After the calibration is completed, it is not necessary to perform the above procedures unless the magnetic field strength is drastically changed. If this happens, the azimuthal display will be changed to "C".

- INSPECT INNER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSY Inspect operation of the electrochromatic inner mirror. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 1 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 2. Attach black colored tape to the forward sensor to prevent it from sensing. Light up the mirror with an electric light, and check that the mirror surface changes from bright to dark. If the result is not as specified, replace the mirror assy.

- REMOVE OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSY LH Disconnect the connector. Remove the 3 nuts and mirror.
- INSTALL OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSY LH Install the mirror with the 3 nuts. Torque: 8.0 N.m (82 kgf.cm, 71 in.lbf) Connect the connector.
