TROUBLE SHOOTING

  1. Trouble shooting of a power window system complaint begins with verification of the customer problem. If problem occurs, go to step 3 . If problem does not occur, go to next step.
  2. If problem does not occur, review conditions under which problem occurred for customer and try to duplicate those conditions. For example, if the problem occurs on rainy days or during high humidity conditions, sprinkle water onto vehicle and see if malfunction occurs. DO NOT sprinkle water directly into engine compartment or onto electronic components. Visually inspect for signs of mechanical and electrical damage. Inspect for blown fuses and damaged relays. Inspect for loose or corroded connections, damaged wiring harnesses and/or switches. Check for a broken or partially broken wire inside insulation, which could cause system malfunction but prove good in a continuity/voltage check with system disconnected. Ensure any aftermarket electronic equipment is properly installed. If fault is found, repair as necessary.
  3. Inspect the multiplex communication system and confirm that there is no trouble by the basic inspection and DTC check. See PRE-CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC in «MULTIPLEX COMMUNICATION SYSTEM»(ref-152690) article under COMMUNICATION DEVICES in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT.
  4. Determine problem symptom. See «PROBLEM SYMPTOM INDEX»(ref-153002-S22522947812003031000000) table. Circuit Description

The jam protection limit switch is built-in the power window motor. (Scheme 3)and (Scheme 4). This switch functions to turn OFF before the top dead center and ECU reads the OFF signal resulting in closing the window fully.

Inspection Procedure

Note. If using the hand-held tester, start the inspection from step 1 and if not using the hand-held tester, start from step 2 .

  1. Check the power window motor using the hand-held tester. Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3. Check the jam protection limit switch using DATA LIST. If the results are OK, check the jam protection pulse switch circuit. See «JAM PROTECTION PULSE SWITCH CIRCUIT (FRONT)»(ref-153002-S39564578582003031000000) . If the results are not good, go to the next step.
  2. Check the jam protection limit switch. See «JAM PROTECTION LIMIT SWITCH (FRONT)»(ref-153002-S28571080642003031000000) under COMPONENT TESTS. If the results are OK, go to the next step. 3. Check the wire harness and connector between the jam protection limit switch and door ECU (driver or passenger). If the results are OK, check the jam protection pulse switch circuit. See «JAM PROTECTION PULSE SWITCH CIRCUIT (FRONT)»(ref-153002-S39564578582003031000000) . If the results are not good, repair or replace the wire harness or connector.

The jam protection pulse is built-in the power window motor. The pulse switch outputs ON/OFF pulse when the motor rotates. (Scheme 3)and (Scheme 4).

  1. Check the jam protection pulse switch. See «JAM PROTECTION PULSE SWITCH (FRONT)»(ref-153002-S02920706512003031000000) under COMPONENT TESTS. If the results are OK, go to the next step. If the results are not good, replace the power window motor. See «FRONT DOOR POWER WINDOW REGULATOR»(ref-153002-S33531785362003031100000) under COMPONENT TESTS.
  2. Check the wire harness and connector between jam protection pulse switch and the appropriate door ECU (driver or passenger). If the results are OK, check the appropriate door ECU (driver or passenger). If the results are not good, repair or replace the wire harness or connector.
