Power Windows: Removal & Installation Lexus GS II

Removal & Installation (Front)

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove upper speaker grill (triangle-shaped trim piece near mirror). Remove bezel from inner door handle by prying it out. Pry up front edge of switch base plate, then pull switch forward to remove. Remove courtesy light.
  2. Remove the following 6 screws that secure door trim panel: Three screws at bottom of panel. One screw under a cap at rear edge of panel. One screw under a cap in switch opening. One screw accessible through vent hole (upper right corner).
  3. Pry door trim panel away from door to release retainer clips. Pull door trim panel upward to disengage it from door. Remove upper and lower speakers. Remove door frame garnish. Remove inside door handle assembly. Remove service hole cover (water shield).
  4. Remove outside rear view mirror (if necessary). Pry up inner belt weatherstrip and remove it. Remove door glass run. Remove 2 bolts, then carefully pull glass out of door. Disconnect window motor connector. Remove bolt/nuts securing window motor and regulator assembly, then remove assembly. To install, reverse removal procedure.

Removal & Installation (Rear)

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove bezel from inner door handle by prying it out. Pry up rear edge of switch base plate, then pull switch rearward to remove. Remove courtesy light.
  2. Remove the following screws that secure door trim panel: Two screws at bottom of panel. One screw under a cap at rear edge of panel. One screw under armrest. One screw accessible through switch base plate hole.
  3. Pry door trim panel away from door to release retainer clips. Pull door trim panel upward to disengage it from door. Remove speaker. Remove door frame garnish. Remove inside door handle assembly. Carefully pull service hole cover (water shield) away from door.
  4. Pry up inner belt weatherstrip and remove it. Remove door glass run. Protect glass with a shop towel. Remove 2 bolts, then carefully lower glass into door panel, positioning it as far forward as possible.
  5. Remove division bar and quarter window glass. Remove outside belt molding (11 screws and 5 nuts). Remove door glass. Disconnect window motor connector. Remove 6 nuts securing window motor and regulator assembly, then remove assembly. To install, reverse removal procedure.

Pry up front edge of switch base plate, then pull it forward. Disconnect switch connector. Unclip switch from switch base plate (or remove screws, if equipped). To install, reverse removal procedure.

Pry up rear edge of switch base plate, then pull it rearward. Disconnect switch connector. Unclip switch from switch base plate (or remove screws, if equipped). To install, reverse removal procedure.
