Code Definition

1. DTC P1349: Variable Valve Timing (VVT) System Malfunction (Bank No. 1)
2. DTC P1354: Variable Valve Timing (VVT) System Malfunction (Bank No. 2)

Circuit Description

Note. Variable Valve Timing (VVT) sensor is also known as camshaft position sensor.

The Variable Valve Timing (VVT) system controls intake valve timing in response to driving conditions. If valve timing does not change from current vale timing or current valve timing is fixed after engine is warmed up and engine speed is at 400-4000 RPM. Possible causes are

1. Incorrect valve timing.
2. Faulty oil control valve.
3. Faulty VVT controller assembly.
4. Faulty ECM.

Diagnostic Aids

Using scan tool, read freeze frame data. Freeze frame records engine conditions when malfunction is detected.
