Automatic A/c-Heater Systems: Removal & Installation Lexus ES XV30

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

WARNINGTo avoid injury from accidental air bag deployment, read and carefully follow all SERVICE PRECAUTIONS and DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM procedures in AIR BAG SYSTEM SAFETY article in GENERAL SERVICING.

Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove instrument panel center (with grille) and lower (below A/C control assembly) finish panels. Remove bolts securing radio and A/C control assembly to instrument panel. Separate radio from A/C control assembly. To install, reverse removal procedure.

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Discharge A/C system, using approved refrigerant recovery/recycling equipment. Drain coolant. Disconnect cable from water valve. Disconnect hoses from heater core.
  2. Remove instrument panel and brace. Remove blower unit. Disconnect and cap refrigerant lines. Remove rear air ducts. Remove heater protector plate. Remove A/C unit.
  3. To install, reverse removal procedure. Refill cooling system. Evacuate and charge A/C system. Start engine. Check for coolant and refrigerant leaks.

Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove glove box. Remove relay block No. 6. Remove air duct. Remove engine control module and bracket. Unplug servomotor connector. Remove servomotor. To install, reverse removal procedure.

Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove dashboard lower finish panel, safety pad, and air duct. Unplug servomotor connector. Remove servomotor. Disconnect control cable. To install, reverse removal procedure.

Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove dashboard lower finish panel, safety pad, and air duct. Unplug servomotor connector. Remove servomotor. To install, reverse removal procedure.

Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove lower dashboard panel and undercover. Remove connector bracket. Remove blower motor. To install, reverse removal procedure.

  1. If compressor runs, idle engine for 10 minutes with A/C on. Turn ignition off. Disconnect negative battery cable. Discharge A/C system, using approved refrigerant recovery/recycling equipment. Unplug compressor connector.
  2. Disconnect refrigerant hoses from compressor. Cap openings. Loosen drive belt. Disconnect generator electrical connector and wiring. Remove generator pivot bolt, plate washer, adjusting lock bolt and remove generator.
  3. Disconnect compressor electrical connector. Remove generator drive belt adjusting bar bracket. Remove compressor bolts and compressor. To install, reverse removal procedure. When replacing compressor, ensure compressor contains 4.1 ounces of refrigerant oil. Evacuate and charge A/C system. Test system for leaks.
  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Discharge A/C system, using approved refrigerant recovery/recycling equipment. Remove upper cover and radiator fan. Disconnect and plug refrigerant lines at condenser.
  2. Remove headlights. Pull condenser upward from between radiator and body. To install, reverse removal procedure. When replacing condenser, add 1.4-1.7 ounces of refrigerant oil to compressor. Evacuate and charge A/C system. Inspect system for leaks.
  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Discharge A/C system, using approved refrigerant recovery/recycling equipment. Disconnect and plug refrigerant lines from evaporator assembly. Remove glove box.
  2. Remove relay block No. 6. Remove connector bracket. Remove air duct. Remove engine control module and bracket. Disconnect blower motor connectors. Remove blower motor.
  3. Remove evaporator cover and evaporator. To install, reverse removal procedure. When replacing evaporator, add 1.4 ounces of refrigerant oil to evaporator. Evacuate and charge A/C system. Inspect system for leaks.

Disconnect negative battery cable. Discharge A/C system, using approved refrigerant recovery/recycling equipment. Disconnect and plug refrigerant lines from receiver-drier. Remove receiver-drier. To install, reverse removal procedure. When replacing receiver-drier, add 0.7 ounces of refrigerant oil to receiver-drier. Evacuate and charge A/C system. Inspect system for leaks.
