Anti-Lock: Removal & Installation Lexus ES XV30

Removal

Drain brake fluid.
Using special tool (09023-00100), disconnect 6 brake lines from actuator. Use tags or make a note to identify the place to reconnect brake lines. (Scheme 41)
Disconnect the brake actuator harness connector.
Disconnect 3 nuts and remove brake actuator with bracket.
Remove 2 nuts and brake actuator from bracket. Remove 2 holders and 3 cushions from brake actuator.

To install, reverse removal procedure. Install 3 cushions and 2 holders to brake actuator. Install brake actuator to bracket with 2 nuts and, using special tool (09023-00100), tighten to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-153071-S04812338842003031200000) .
Install brake actuator with bracket and tighten 3 nuts to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-153071-S04812338842003031200000) .
Connect the brake actuator harness connector.
Using special tool (09023-00100), connect the 6 brake lines to the actuator.
Fill reservoir with brake fluid and bleed master cylinder. See «MASTER CYLINDER»(ref-153071-S07599228452003031200000) under BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM.
Bleed brake line. See «BRAKE LINE»(ref-153071-S19250629612003031200000) under BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM.
Check fluid level in reservoir and check for brake fluid leakage. Check operation of brake actuator. See «BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY»(ref-153071-S37060046152003031900000) under COMPONENT TESTS.

Remove front wheel and front fender liner.
Disconnect speed sensor harness connector and clamp. (Scheme 42)
Remove 2 clamp bolts (A, B) holding sensor harness and clamp from body and shock absorber. (Scheme 43)
Remove bolt and wheel speed sensor. (Scheme 44)

To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten front wheel speed sensor bolt to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-153071-S04812338842003031200000) .
Install sensor harness clamps with 2 bolts (A, B) to body and shock absorber. Tighten each bolt to it's specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-153071-S04812338842003031200000) .
Connect speed sensor harness connector and clamp.
Install front fender liner and front wheel and tighten lug nuts to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-153071-S04812338842003031200000) .
Check ABS speed sensor signal. See «SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL CHECK»(ref-153071-S06227136452003031700000) .

Remove rear wheel.
Disconnect the connector from the wheel speed sensor. (Scheme 45)
Remove brake caliper assembly and disc. See «DISC»(ref-139125) article.
Remove the 4 bolts and rear axle hub and bearing assembly.
Mount the rear axle hub in a soft jaw vise. Using a pin punch and hammer, drive out the 2 pins and remove the 2 attachments from special tool (09520-00031). Using special tool (09520-00031), (09520-00040), (09521-00020) and (09950-00020) and 2 bolts (diameter: (12 mm), pitch: (1.5 mm), remove the speed sensor from the rear axle hub. (Scheme 46)

Clean the contacting surface of the axle hub and a new speed sensor. Make sure the sensor rotor is clean.
Place the speed sensor on the axle hub so that the connector is positioned correctly. (Scheme 47)
Using special tools (09830-36010), (09950-60010), (09951-00650), (09950-70010) and (09951-07100) and a press, install the speed control sensor to the axle hub. Do not tap the speed sensor with a hammer. Press in the speed sensor straight and slowly. (Scheme 48)
Install the rear axle hub and bearing assembly with the 4 bolts and tighten to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-153071-S04812338842003031200000).
Install rear disc and brake caliper assembly. See «DISC»(ref-139125) article.
Connect speed control sensor wire.
Install rear wheel and tighten lug nuts to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-153071-S04812338842003031200000).
Check and adjust wheel alignment. See «ALIGNMENT SPEICIFCATIONS & PROCEDURES»(ref-183907) article in WHEEL ALIGNMENT.
Check ABS speed sensor signal. See «SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL CHECK»(ref-153071-S06227136452003031700000).
