Engine (4.2L): Adjustments Land Rover Range Rover III facelift

VALVE CLEARANCE ADJUSTMENT

Note. The valve clearance adjustment procedure is part of the camshafts removal and installation procedure.

1. Remove the camshafts. See «Camshafts LH»(ref-522643-S17775332282013011500000) . .
2. Install the camshafts. See «Camshafts LH»(ref-522643-S17775332282013011500000) . .

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to «Specifications»(ref-522601) .
2. Raise and support the vehicle.
3. Remove the engine under shield. Refer to «Engine Under shield»(ref-522604-S24326226122013011500000) .
4. Remove the radiator splash shield. Refer to «Radiator Splash Shield»(ref-522604-S29075290552013011500000) .
5. Remove the oil pan drain plug. Position a container to collect the fluid. Discard the oil pan drain plug seal.
6. Remove the engine oil filter. Position a container to collect the fluid. Discard the oil filter.
7. Install the engine oil filter. Lubricate the oil filter seal with clean engine oil and tighten to 18 Nm (13 lb.ft).
8. Tighten the drain plug to 25 Nm (18 lb.ft). Install a new seal.
9. Install the radiator splash shield. Refer to «Radiator Splash Shield»(ref-522604-S29075290552013011500000) .
10. Install the engine under shield. Refer to «Engine Under shield»(ref-522604-S24326226122013011500000) .
11. Fill the engine with oil.
12. Connect the battery ground cable. Refer to «Specifications»(ref-522601) .
13. Check and top-up the engine oil.
