- Check for blown PWIND LH and PWIND RH (15-amp) fuses located in engine compartment fuse box. If fuses are okay, go to next step. If fuse is blown, locate and repair short to ground in power window circuit. Replace fuse(s). Retest system.
- Turn ignition on. Verify battery voltage (12 volts minimum) to fuse. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, check battery condition and power feed to fuse box. Repair as necessary. Retest system.
- Turn ignition on. Using a voltmeter, backprobe between ground and terminal No. 7 (Pink/Blue wire) at master power window switch. Also backprobe between ground and terminal No. 8 (Pink wire) at master power window switch. If battery voltage exists on both circuits, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present on either circuit, repair open or short to ground in Pink/Blue wire to PWIND LH fuse or in Pink wire to PWIND RH fuse. Retest system.
- Turn ignition off. Using an ohmmeter, backprobe between ground and terminal No. 12 (Black wire) at master power window switch. If continuity exists, replace master power window switch. If continuity does not exist, repair open in ground circuit (Black wire) between master power window switch and chassis ground. Retest system.
Sportage
- Check for blown REAR WIPER (10-amp) fuse or PW (30-amp) fuse, located in passenger compartment fuse box. If fuse(s) are okay, go to next step. If fuse(s) are blown, locate and repair short to ground in power window circuit. Replace fuse(s). Retest system.
- Turn ignition on. Verify battery voltage (12 volts minimum) to fuses. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, check battery condition and power feed to fuse box. Repair as necessary. Retest system.
- Turn ignition on. Using a voltmeter connected to ground, backprobe Yellow wire terminal at power window relay. Relay is located in relay box, behind left side of instrument panel. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open or short to ground in Yellow wire between REAR WIPER (10-amp) fuse and power window relay. Retest system.
- Turn ignition off. Using an ohmmeter, backprobe between ground and Black wire terminal at power window relay. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open in Black wire between power window relay and chassis ground. Retest system.
- Turn ignition on. Using a voltmeter, backprobe between ground and White/Green wire terminal at power window relay. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open or short to ground in White/Green wire between PWIND (30-amp) fuse and power window relay. Retest system.
- Measure voltage (backprobe) between ground and Black/Red wire terminal at power window relay. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, replace power window relay. Retest system.
- Measure voltage (backprobe) between ground and Black/Red wire terminal at master power window switch. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open or short to ground in Black/Red wire between power window relay and master power window switch. Retest system.
- Turn ignition off. Using an ohmmeter, backprobe between ground and Black wire terminal at master power window switch. If continuity exists, replace master power window switch. If continuity does not exist, repair open in Black wire between master power window switch and chassis ground. Retest system.
DRIVER-SIDE POWER WINDOW INOPERATIVE
Note. If all passenger windows are also inoperative, go to ALL POWER WINDOWS INOPERATIVE .
- Turn ignition on. Using a voltmeter, measure voltage (backprobe) between ground and Blue/Yellow wire at master power window switch while holding left front control button in UP position. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, replace master power window switch. Retest system.
- Measure voltage (backprobe) between ground and Blue/Red wire at master power window switch while holding left front control button in DOWN position. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, replace master power window switch. Retest system.
- Check for battery voltage at Blue/Yellow wire at left front window motor connector with left front control button in UP position. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open or short to ground in Blue/Yellow wire between master power window switch and left front window motor. Retest system.
- Check for battery voltage at Blue/Red wire at left front window motor connector with left front control button in DOWN position. If battery voltage exists, replace window motor. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open or short to ground in Blue/Red wire between master power window switch and left front window motor. Retest system.
- Turn ignition on. Using a voltmeter, measure voltage (backprobe) between ground and Pink wire at master power window switch while holding left front control button in UP position. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, replace master power window switch. Retest system.
- Measure voltage (backprobe) between ground and Green wire at master power window switch while holding left front control button in DOWN position. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, replace master power window switch. Retest system.
- Check for battery voltage at terminal No. 1 (Pink wire) of left front window motor with left front control button in UP position. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open or short to ground in Pink wire between master power window switch and left front window motor. Retest system.
- Check for battery voltage at terminal No. 2 (Green wire) of left front window motor with left front control button in DOWN position. If battery voltage exists, replace left front window motor. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open or short in Green wire between master power window switch and left front window motor. Retest system.
AUTO-DOWN FEATURE INOPERATIVE
Note. Verify driver's window has normal up an down control. If operation is not as specified, go to DRIVER SIDE POWER WINDOW INOPERATIVE .
- Turn ignition on. Using a voltmeter, backprobe between ground and Blue/Red wire at master power window switch. Depress left front control button fully, then release to activate auto-down mode. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, or changes to zero volts before window is fully lowered, replace master power window switch. Retest system.
- Repeat step 1) while checking for battery voltage between Blue/Red wire and Blue/Yellow wire at master power window switch. If battery voltage does not exist, or changes to zero volts before window is fully lowered, replace master power window switch and retest system.
MASTER POWER WINDOW SWITCH OPERATES DRIVER'S WINDOW ONLY
Note. Verify master power window switch operates driver's window. If operation is not as specified, go to ALL POWER WINDOWS INOPERATIVE .
- Turn ignition on. Using a voltmeter, ensure battery voltage exists at specified wire color terminals of master power window switch while operating switch. See «WINDOW SWITCH POWER DISTRIBUTION (SEPHIA)»(ref-4305-S22350313652000061900000) table. (Схема №1) If switch tests okay, go to next step. If switch fails one or more conditions, replace master power window switch. Retest system.
- With ignition on, ensure battery voltage exists at each passenger window switch while operating master switch. See «WINDOW SWITCH POWER DISTRIBUTION (SEPHIA)»(ref-4305-S22350313652000061900000) table. (Схема №3) If power supply to switches test okay, go to «MASTER SWITCH OPERATES ALL WINDOWS/ONE OR MORE PASSENGER SWITCHES INOPERATIVE»(ref-4305-S18182191752000061900000). If power supply to one or more switches is not present, repair appropriate power feed circuit to passenger window switch. Retest system.

If switch fails one or more conditions, replace master power window switch. Retest system.
- With ignition on, ensure battery voltage exists at each individual passenger window switch while operating master switch. See «WINDOW SWITCH POWER DISTRIBUTION (SPORTAGE)»(ref-4305-S15343458802000061900000) table. If power supply to switches tests okay, go to next step. If power supply to one or more switches is not present, repair appropriate power feed circuit to passenger window switch. Retest system.
- While operating master switch, ensure battery voltage exists at Pink wire (switch position UP), then Green wire (switch position DOWN) at each passenger window switch connector. (Схема №4) If operation is as specified, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present at one or more switches, replace appropriate passenger window switch. Retest system.
- While operating master switch, ensure battery voltage exists at Pink wire (switch position UP), then Green wire (switch position DOWN) at each passenger window motor. (Схема №4) If operation is as specified, replace appropriate window motor. If battery voltage is not present at one or more motor, repair appropriate open or shorted wire between passenger window switch and window motor. Retest system.

MASTER SWITCH OPERATES ALL WINDOWS/ ONE OR MORE PASSENGER SWITCHES INOPERATIVE
Note. Verify master lock-out switch is in OFF (UP) position. Ensure all windows operate from master power window switch. If operation is not as specified, go to ALL POWER WINDOWS INOPERATIVE .
- Turn ignition on. If any passenger window switch operates, go to next step. If no passenger switch operates, use a voltmeter and ensure battery voltage exists between ground and Pink/Blue wire of master power window switch. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, replace master power window switch. Retest system.
- Using a voltmeter, check for battery voltage at Pink/Blue wire) at faulty window switch. If battery voltage exists, replace faulty power window switch. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open or short in Pink/Blue wire between master power window switch and passenger power window switch. Retest system.
- Turn ignition on. Using a voltmeter, check for battery voltage between ground and Black/White wire of master power window switch. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, replace master power window switch. Retest system.
- Using a voltmeter, check for battery voltage at terminal No. 5 (Black/White wire) at faulty window switch. If battery voltage exists, replace faulty power window switch. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open or short in Black/White wire between master power window switch and passenger power window switch. Retest system.
