Lighting System - Except Hev: Removal & Installation Kia Optima III

Installation

  1. Install the head lamp bulbs.
  2. Connect the connectors.
  3. Install the head lamp bolts (2 EA).
  4. Connect the negative (-) battery terminal.
  1. Install the overhead console lamp after connecting the sunroof switch connector and lamp connector.
  2. Install the lens after tightening 2 screws.

Scheme 15: Removal
  1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
  2. Remove the lens trunk trim. Refer to «TRUNK»(ref-429563-S22436899412011101500000) .
  3. Replace the bulb (A) by turning it counterclockwise.
  1. Install the bulb.
  2. Install the trunk trim.

Scheme 16: Inspection
  1. It will be able to diagnose defects of hazard switch with GDS quickly. GDS can operates actuator forcefully, input/output value monitoring and self diagnosis.
  2. Select model and "BCM".
  3. Select the "SJB" to check.
  4. Select "Current data", if you will check current data of hazard switch. It provides input/output status of SJB.

Removal

  1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
  2. Remove the heater control module. Refer to «CONTROLLER»(ref-429605) .
  1. Install the heater control module.

  1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
  2. Remove the crash pad lower panel. Refer to «CRASH PAD LOWER PANEL REPLACEMENT»(ref-429563-S35018266392011101500000) .
  3. Remove the crash pad side switch assembly (A) as shown below picture. NOTE: Put on gloves to protect your hands.
  4. Disconnect the rheostat connector (A) from lower crash pad switch.
  5. Operate the rheostat switch and check for continuity between terminals.

Scheme 20: Inspection
  1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
  2. Remove the lighting switch of the multi-function switch. Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-429589-S18530099742011101500000) .
  3. With the front fog lamp switch, make sure that continuity exists between the terminals below. If continuity is not as specified, replace the multi-function switch.

  1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
  2. Remove the front wheel guard clip (2 EA). Refer to «FRONT BUMPER»(ref-429584-S24274374532011101500000) .
  3. Disconnect the front fog lamp connector (A).
  4. Replace the front fog bulb (A) turning it in the counter clock-wise direction.
  1. Install the front fog bulb.
  2. Reconnect the lamp connector.
  3. Install the front bumper.

  1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
  2. Remove the rear seat. Refer to «REAR SEAT»(ref-429576-S10343832112011101500000) .
  3. Remove the package tray trim (A). Refer to «PACKAGE TRAY TRIM REPLACEMENT»(ref-429563-S21619382402011101500000) .
  4. Remove the soundproofing felt (A) to remove the wiring.
  5. Remove the high mounted stop lamp after removing screws and hook (A) carefully.
  1. Install the high mounted stop lamp to the rear package tray.
  2. Install the rear package tray trim.
  3. Install the rear seat.

  1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
  2. Remove the rear combination lamp cover (A).
  3. Replace the tail/stop lamp and turn signal lamp bulbs (A) by turning it counterclockwise.
  4. Remove the mounting nuts (4 EA).
  5. Remove the rear combination lamp (A) after disconnecting the connector (B).
  6. Replace the tail/stop lamp and turn signal lamp bulbs (A) by turning the sockets (B) counterclockwise.

  1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
  2. Remove the trunk trim. Refer to «TRUNK»(ref-429563-S22436899412011101500000) .
  3. If the tail lamp bulb should be only replaced without removing lamp assembly, replace the tail lamp bulb (A) after removing the trim cover in the trunk. NOTE: Back up lamp bulb is removed after removing the rear lamp assembly.
  4. Remove the rear lamp assembly (A) after removing the nuts (3 EA) and connector.
  5. Replace the tail lamp and back up lamp bulbs (A) by turning the sockets (B) counterclockwise.
  1. Install the rear combination lamp (Inside) assembly.
  2. Install the rear combination lamp (outside) assembly.

Scheme 36: Side Repeater Lamp
  1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
  2. Open the front door.
  3. Remove the side repeater lamp assembly by using the a flat-tip screwdriver. NOTE: Apply the protective tapes on the arrow area and its related parts.
  4. Replace the bulb if it is necessary.

  1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
  2. Remove the door mirror and door mirror cover (A) after removing the screw. NOTE: Take care not to damage the mirror holder fixing clip.
  3. Remove the door mirror cover (A) after removing the fixing clip. NOTE: Take care not to damage the mirror cover fixing clip.
  4. Remove the door mirror turn signal lamp (B) after removing the screw and connector (A).
