Esc (Electronic Stability Control): Diagnosis Kia Optima II

FAILURE DIAGNOSIS

  1. In principle, ESC and TCS controls are prohibited in case of ABS failure.
  2. When ESC or TCS fails, only the failed system control is prohibited.
  3. However, when the solenoid valve relay should be turned off in case of ESC failure, refer to «ABS (ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM)»(ref-266015) .
  4. Information on ABS fail-safe is identical to the fail-safe in systems where ESC is not installed.

SELF-DIAGNOSIS

  1. Initial self-diagnosis is performed at key ON. (Additional initial diagnostics are performed when the vehicle exceeds 5 mph (8 km/h) with the brake switch OFF, and when the vehicle exceeds 24.9 mph (40 km/h). The motor and valves may activate during these initial diagnostic routines.)
  2. Normal system self-diagnosis is performed as long as the ignition key remain ON.
