Engine Controls - Trouble Shooting - No Codes: NVH Kia Optima I

ABNORMAL NOISE, DETONATION OR KNOCKING

1. Check engine oil and coolant level.
2. Check that throttle valve opens fully when accelerator pedal fully depressed.
3. Check installation of throttle cable.
4. Check installation of throttle body.
5. Check Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor.
6. Check cooling system.
7. Check spark plugs for correct heat range.
8. Check fuel system pressure.
9. Check fuel quality/octane.
10. Check for fuel contamination.
11. Check for intake system air leaks.
12. Check engine compression.
13. Check for carbon build-up in cylinders.
14. Check if head or deck has been resurfaced.
