| 2 - WINDAGE TRAY AND INTEGRATED OIL PAN GASKET |
- Disconnect and isolate negative battery cable.
- Install engine support fixture.
- Raise and support vehicle.
- Remove front wheel assemblies.
- Remove skid plate (if equipped). Refer to «Frame and Bumpers/Frame/PLATE, Skid - Removal»(ref-350056-S14168837912009121400000)
- Drain engine oil.
- Mark adjustment cam position of front lower control arm bolts.
- Remove front lower control arm bolts. Refer to «Front Suspension/Front/ARM, Lower Control - Removal»(ref-350031-S38159515042009121400000)
- Disconnect LH tie rod. Refer to «Steering/Linkage/END, Tie Rod - Removal»(ref-350037-S18158260682009121400000)
- Disconnect LH lower ball joint. Refer to «Front Suspension/Front/BALL JOINT, Suspension - Removal»(ref-350031-S42946997802009121400000)
- Disconnect LH strut clevis. Refer to «Front Suspension/Front/BRACKET, Clevis - Removal»(ref-350031-S05163340522009121400000)
- Remove LH front axle. Refer to «Differential and Driveline/Half Shaft - Removal»(ref-350039-S06360089222009121400000)
- Remove front axle brace bolts.
- Remove front prop shaft. Refer to «Differential and Driveline/Propeller Shaft/SHAFT, Drive - Removal»(ref-350039-S01634070032009121400000)
- Drain front axle.
- Using a transmission jack, support front axle.
- Remove axle bracket bolts.
- With RH axle still in place, remove front differential.
- Remove transmission oil cooler line bracket.
- Remove engine to transmission stiffening bracket.
- Position Engine Support 8534B on the fender lip and align the slots in the brackets with the fender mounting holes.
- Secure brackets to the fender using four M6 X 1.0 X 25 MM flanged cap screws.
- Tighten the thumbscrews to secure the sleeves to the support tube.
- Secure the support tube in an upright position.
- Assemble the flat washer, thrust bearing, hook and T handle.
- Using the M10 X 1.75 mm flanged nut supplied with the support fixture, secure the chain to the front engine lifting stud.
- Loosen engine mounts.
- Remove oil pan bolts.
- Separate oil pan (1) from engine.
- Move oil pan to one side, remove oils sump bolt and windage tray bolts, NOTE: Do not pry on oil pan or oil pan gasket. Gasket is integral to engine windage tray and does not come out with oil pan .
- Move the oil pan and windage tray (2) toward front of vehicle and remove from vehicle.
4x4
- Disconnect Battery.
- Install Engine Support Fixture 8534B.
- Raise and support vehicle.
- Remove front wheel and tire assemblies.
- Remove skid plate (if equipped).
- Drain engine oil.
- Remove engine to transmission structural cover, (if equipped).
- Remove transmission oil cooler line bracket.
- Remove the front axle assembly from the vehicle.
- Loosen both engine mount through bolts.
- Lower the vehicle. NOTE: It is not necessary to remove the viscous fan , or fan shroud, for oil pan removal.
- Raise the engine using Engine Support Fixture 8534B, until the viscous fan almost touches the fan shroud.
- Raise the vehicle.
- Remove the oil pan bolts.
- Separate the oil pan from the engine.
- Remove the (2) nuts and (1) bolt holding the oil pump pick-up tube, and windage tray in place. NOTE: It will be necessary to move the oil pan from side to side to gain access to these fasteners.
- Drop the oil pump pick-up tube into the oil pan, and remove the oil pan, pick-up tube, and the windage tray, as an assembly, from the front of the vehicle.
CLEANING
- Clean oil pan in solvent and wipe dry with a clean cloth.
- Clean the oil pan gasket surface. DO NOT use a grinder wheel or other abrasive tool to clean sealing surface.
- Clean oil screen and tube thoroughly in clean solvent.
- Inspect oil pan gasket for defects, and replace if necessary.
- Clean the oil pan and block gasket mating surfaces.
- Drop the oil pump pick-up tube into the oil pan, and install the oil pan, pick-up tube, and the windage tray, as an assembly, from the front of the vehicle.
- Install the windage tray, then the oil pump pick-up tube, and the (2) nuts and (1) bolt holding the oil pump pick-up tube, in place. NOTE: It will be necessary to move the oil pan from side to side to gain access to these fasteners.
- Torque the pick-up tube fasteners.
- Install the oil pan.
- Install and torque the oil pan bolts.
- Install the engine to transmission structural cover, (if equipped).
- Lower the vehicle.
- Lower the engine using Engine Support Fixture 8534B.
- Remove the Engine Support Fixture 8534B.
- Raise the vehicle.
- Tighten both engine mount through bolts.
- Install the transmission oil cooler line bracket.
- Install the front axle assembly to the vehicle.
- Install the skid plate (if equipped).
- Install the front wheel and tire assemblies.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Refill engine oil.
- Reconnect battery.
- Start engine, and check for leaks.
