INSTALLATION

  1. Position the rear absorber (2) to the body (1) then use hand pressure on the rear absorber until the plastic clips snap into place securing the rear absorber to the body.
  2. Install the four rivets (3) through the rear absorber (2) and into body (1).
  3. Install the rear fascia. See «Frame and Bumpers/Bumpers/FASCIA, Rear - Installation»(ref-350056-S03880419062009121400000) .

  1. Remove both of the front wheel liners only enough to gain access to the bolts. Refer to «Body/Exterior/SHIELD, Splash - Removal»(ref-350042-S10542539842009121400000) .
  2. Remove the side screws (3) attaching the fascia to the wheel moldings.
  3. Remove the push pins (4) securing fascia (5) to radiator support (3).
  4. Release the tabs securing the fascia to the grille opening reinforcement.
  5. If equipped, disconnect the electrical connectors from both of the fog lamp assemblies.
  1. Install fascia (5) to radiator support (3).
  2. Connect the tabs securing the fascia (5) to the grille opening reinforcement and seat fully.
  3. If equipped, connect the electrical connectors (4) for the fog lamp assemblies on both sides of the vehicle.
  4. Install the push pins (4).
  5. Install two screws (3) to the fascia bracket and tighten to 3 N.m (30 in. lbs.).
  6. Install splash shields. Refer to «Body/Exterior/SHIELD, Splash - Installation»(ref-350042-S08197452012009121400000) .

Note. Only remove the rear portion of the right and left rear wheel opening flare moldings, do not remove the door flare moldings.

  1. Remove the right and left side rear wheel opening flare moldings. Refer to «Body/Exterior/MOLDING - Removal»(ref-350042-S36571784102009121400000) .
  2. Remove the six rivets (2) form the rear fascia (4).
  3. Remove the four screws (3) from the rear fascia (4).
  4. Separate the rear fascia (4) from the rear absorber (1) and remove the fascia from the vehicle.

  1. Install into position the rear fascia (4) to the rear absorber (1).
  2. Install the screws (3) located at the top of the rear fascia (4) and tighten to 8 N.m (70 in. lbs.).
  3. Install the six rivets (2) through the rear fascia (4), and the rear absorber (1) to the body.
  4. Install both or the rear wheel opening flare moldings. Refer to «Body/Exterior/MOLDING - Installation»(ref-350042-S15388763292009121400000) .

  1. Remove the front fascia. See «Frame and Bumpers/Bumpers/FASCIA, Front - Removal»(ref-350056-S13839364922009121400000) .
  2. Remove the bolt (2) and remove the jounce bumper spacer (1) from the crossmember.

  1. Install the jounce bumper spacer (1) to the slot in the crossmember.
  2. Install the bolt (2) and tighten to 8 N.m (75 in. lbs.).
  3. Install the front fascia. See «Frame and Bumpers/Bumpers/FASCIA, Front - Installation»(ref-350056-S32997480992009121400000) .

  1. Remove the rear bumper fascia foam. See «Frame and Bumpers/Bumpers/ABSORBER, Rear Energy - Removal»(ref-350056-S30161643172009121400000) . 1 - U - Nut 2 - Body 3 - Crossmember Support 4 - Screw
  2. Remove the four screws (4) from the crossmember support (3).
  3. Remove the crossmember (3) from the body (2).
  4. Remove the U - Nuts (1) from the body (2).

  1. Install the U - nuts (1) to the body (2).
  2. Install the crossmember support (3) to the body (2).
  3. Install the four screws (4) to the crossmember support (3) and tighten to 7 N.m (5 ft. lbs.).
  4. Install the rear bumper fascia foam. See «Frame and Bumpers/Bumpers/ABSORBER, Rear Energy - Installation»(ref-350056-S22412835002009121400000) .
2 - ENGINE CRADLE CROSSMEMBER
3 - ENGINE CRADLE SUPPORT BOLTS (4)
  1. Place the cradle on a suitable lifting device, then raise the engine cradle into the vehicle while lining up the engine mount through bolts. NOTE: Refer to the reference marks made during cradle removal procedure and align the cradle to those marks.
  2. Install the cradle mounting bolts and tighten the front bolts to 122 N.m (90 ft. lbs.) and tighten the rear bolts to 115 N.m (85 ft. lbs.).
  3. Tighten the engine mount through bolts to 88 N.m (65 ft. lbs.). 1 - RACK AND PINION 2 - HIGH PRESSURE HOSE 3 - POWER STEERING PUMP 4 - HIGH PRESSURE HOSE BRACKET 5 - RACK AND PINION MOUNTING BOLTS
  4. Install the steering gear. Refer to «Steering/Gear - Installation»(ref-350037-S13762632792009121400000) . 1 - STABILIZER BAR 2 - STABILIZER BAR BUSHING/CLAMPS
  5. Install the front axle, if equipped. Refer to «Differential and Driveline/Front Axle - 186FIA - Installation»(ref-350039-S03587899072009121400000) .
  6. Install the stabilizer bar. Refer to «Front Suspension/Front/STABILIZER BAR, Front - Installation»(ref-350031-S11811467462009121400000) .
  7. Install the lower control arms. Refer to «Front Suspension/Front/ARM, Lower Control - Installation»(ref-350031-S23503206932009121400000) .
  8. Lower the vehicle and remove the engine support tool.

  1. Remove the transmission skid plate. See «Frame and Bumpers/Frame/PLATE, Skid - Removal»(ref-350056-S14168837912009121400000) .
  2. Remove the transfer case skid plate. See «Frame and Bumpers/Frame/PLATE, Skid - Removal»(ref-350056-S14168837912009121400000) .
  3. Support the transmission with a suitable lifting device.
  4. Remove the four transmission mount nuts from the crossmember.
  5. Remove the six bolts (2) and remove the crossmember (1).

  1. Install the crossmember and six bolts and tighten the bolts to 47 N.m (35 ft. lbs.).
  2. Install four transmission mount nuts and tighten to 88 N.m (65 ft. lbs.).
  3. Remove the transmission lifting device.
  4. Install the transfer case skid plate. See «Frame and Bumpers/Frame/PLATE, Skid - Installation»(ref-350056-S12342814572009121400000) .
  5. Install the transmission skid plate. See «Frame and Bumpers/Frame/PLATE, Skid - Installation»(ref-350056-S12342814572009121400000) .

  1. Disconnect the trailer tow harness connector (3) from the trailer tow connector (1).
  2. Remove four bolts (2) from the trailer tow connector (1).
  3. If equipped, remove the tow hooks. See «Frame and Bumpers/Frame/HOOK(S), Tow - Removal»(ref-350056-S02079936102009121400000) .
  4. Support the trailer hitch (2) with a suitable lifting device.
  5. Remove the bolts (3) from the trailer hitch (2).
  6. Remove the trailer hitch (2) from the rear rail assembly (1).
  1. Support the trailer hitch (2) with a suitable lifting device and install to the rear rail assembly (1). NOTE: If equipped with rear tow hooks, support the trailer hitch assembly and install two front bolts to the trailer hitch, then install the rear tow hooks and remaining bolts.
  2. Install the bolts (3) and tighten to 95 N.m (70 ft. lbs.).
  3. If equipped, install the tow hooks. See «Frame and Bumpers/Frame/HOOK(S), Tow - Installation»(ref-350056-S38212769602009121400000) . 1 - Trailer Tow Connector 2 - Bolts 3 - Trailer Tow Harness Connector
  4. Install the trailer tow connector (1) and the bolts (2) to the trailer hitch. Tighten the bolts to 4 N.m (35 in. lbs.).
  5. Connect trailer tow harness connector (3) to the trailer tow connector (1).

  1. Remove the jounce bumper spacer. See «Frame and Bumpers/Bumpers/REINFORCEMENT, Bumper - Removal»(ref-350056-S41235567802009121400000) .
  2. Remove the tow hook (4) from the eye assembly (6).
  3. Remove the bolts (5) from the eye assembly (6).
  4. Remove the nuts (7) from the eye assembly (6).
  5. Remove the eye assembly (6) from the front bumper crossmember (1).
  6. Remove the stud plate (2) and body fasteners (3) from the front bumper crossmember (1).

  1. Install the stud plate (2) and body fasteners (3) to the front bumper crossmember (1).
  2. Install the eye assembly (6) to the front bumper crossmember (1).
  3. Install the nuts (7) and bolts (5) to the eye assembly (6) and tighten to 61 N.m (45 ft. lbs.).
  4. Install the tow hook (4) to the eye assembly (6).
  5. Install the jounce bumper spacer. See «Frame and Bumpers/Bumpers/REINFORCEMENT, Bumper - Installation»(ref-350056-S27450952542009121400000) .

  1. Remove four bolts (5) from the tow hook/eye (4).
  2. Remove the tow hook/eye (4) from the body (1).
  3. Remove the body fastener (3) from the rear crossmember (2).

  1. Install the body fastener (3) to the rear crossmember (2).
  2. Install the tow hook/eye (4) to the body (1).
  3. Install four bolts (5) to the tow hook/eye (4) and tighten to 88 N.m (65 ft. lbs.).

  1. Remove the skid plate bolts (2) and remove the skid plate (1).

  1. Install the skid plate (1).
  2. Install the bolts (2) and tighten to 61 N.m (45 ft. lbs.).

  1. Remove the bolts (2) and remove the skid plate (1).

  1. Install the skid plate (1) and bolts (2) and tighten to 34 N.m (25 ft. lbs.).

  1. Loosen bolts (2) but do not remove.
  2. Remove the two front bolts (4) and slide the skid plate (3) towards the rear of the vehicle to remove. NOTE: Inspect the Nut/Rivets (1) for signs of damage or wear and replace as necessary.
  3. If necessary, remove the nut/rivets.

Note. Inspect the Nut/Rivets (1) for signs of damage or wear and replace as necessary.

  1. If necessary replace the nut/rivets (1).
  2. Position the skid plate (3) onto the bolts (2) on the crossmember.
  3. Slide the skid plate forward so that the location tabs on the front of the skid plate (5) engage the slots on the engine cradle.
  4. Install the two bolts (4) to the front of the skid plate.
  5. Tighten all bolts to 27 N.m (20 ft. lbs.).

REMOVAL

WARNINGThe fuel tank skid plate must be removed as an assembly with the fuel tank. Do not attempt to remove the fuel tank skid plate without removing the fuel tank.
  1. Remove the fuel tank. Refer to «Fuel System/Fuel Delivery/TANK, Fuel - Removal»(ref-350044-S12342323622009121400000) .
  2. Remove the fuel tank skid plate from the fuel tank.
  1. Install the fuel tank skid plate to the fuel tank.
  2. Install the fuel tank. Refer to «Fuel System/Fuel Delivery/TANK, Fuel - Installation»(ref-350044-S29946701732009121400000) .
