Note. Transmission and converter capacities are approximate. Always determine fluid level by reading on dipstick, rather than amount of fluid added. See appropriate REFILL CAPACITIES table.

TRANSFER CASE REFILL CAPACITIES
- Loosen oil pan bolts, tap pan to break it loose and allow fluid to drain. Remove pan and oil filter. On 45RFE, using Oil Filter Wrench (8321), remove cooler return filter. Install NEW cooler return filter. Tighten filter to 10 ft. lbs. (14 N.m).
- On all models, install NEW filter on bottom of valve body. Tighten filter retaining screws to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-1153-S29597903272000031300000) . Install NEW "O" ring on fluid pick-up pipe (if needed). Clean oil pan and install with NEW gasket.
- Refill transmission with fluid. Start engine and allow to run at curb idle for a few minutes. Ensure vehicle is on level surface. Allow engine to idle and apply parking brake. Move shift selector lever through all gears.
- On AW-4, place select lever in Park. On all other models, place select lever in Neutral. Add fluid up to ADD ONE PINT mark on dipstick. Recheck fluid level when transmission reaches normal operating temperature. Fluid should be between ADD ONE PINT and FULL marks on dipstick. DO NOT overfill transmission.
