Removal & Installation
- Open engine compartment and fit paint protection covers. Disconnect negative battery cable. Raise and support vehicle.
- Remove power steering rack for access. See POWER RACK & PINION article in STEERING.
- Remove the protective boot form the starter motor battery cable terminal. Remove the retaining nut and remove the battery cable from the stater motor. (Scheme 2)
- Remove the protective boot from the starter motor solenoid terminal. Remove the retaining nut and remove the solenoid cable from the starter motor. (Scheme 3)
- Using a short 13 mm wrench or a Snap On half moon wrench (CMX1113), loosen but DO NOT remove upper starter motor mounting bolt. Remove lower starter motor mounting bolt. see scheme 11
- Using a 3/8" square drive 13 mm socket, extensions and universal joint, remove the upper starter motor mounting bolt. (Scheme 4) Remove starter motor from vehicle.
- To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten starter motor bolts to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-166974-S07098449422004100400000).
