Removal
- Remove timing chain cover. For non-supercharged models, see «TIMING CHAIN COVER (NON-SUPERCHARGED)»(ref-160932-S14351704192004030900000). For supercharged models, see «TIMING CHAIN COVER (SUPERCHARGED)»(ref-160932-S31665250062004031500000).
- Raise and support vehicle. Remove both front wheels. Remove plastic rivets and screws that secure the lower body panel. (Scheme 206) Remove lower body panel and discard plastic rivets.
- Remove the 2 generator cooling duct mounting bolts and remove generator cooling duct. (Scheme 207)
- On convertibles, remove the 4 cross brace bolts and remove the cross brace from the subframe. (Scheme 208)
- On all models. remove engine oil drain plug and drain engine oil. Remove the 18 lower oil pan bolts and remove the lower oil pan. Remove and discard the lower oil pan gasket. see scheme 203
- If equipped, remove the oil cooler lines clamping plate and bolt from the engine. Place a drain pan beneath the oil cooler lines and remove the lines from the engine. Allow the oil to drain into the pan. Remove and discard the "O" rings and install plugs to the lines and the fittings on the engine. see scheme 30
- Using the Oil Filter Installer/Remover (303-752), remove engine oil filter. Disconnect engine oil pressure switch connector and remove engine oil pressure switch. (Scheme 209)
- Remove the bolt which secures the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor to the flywheel housing. Remove the CKP sensor and allow it to hang free under the engine. see scheme 143 Release the harness clips from the oil pan body.
- Remove the bolt which secures the transmission cooler lines and remove the transmission cooler line bracket. (Scheme 210)
- Remove the 2 lower A/C compressor mounting bolts. Loosen, but do not remove, the 2 upper A/C compressor mounting bolts and remove the compressor from the lower dowel pin. (Scheme 211)
- Remove the downpipe catalytic converter mounting bracket bolts (both sides) from the upper oil pan. see scheme 24
- Remove the 3 oil pick-up bolts and remove oil pick-up. (Scheme 212) Remove and discard the oil pick-up "O" ring.
- If equipped, remove the 2 oil diverter valve bolts and remove oil diverter valve. (Scheme 213) Remove and discard the oil diverter "O" ring.
- Remove the 10 outer and 6 inner upper oil pan bolts. (Scheme 214) Remove the oil pan body.
- Remove the 8 windage tray bolts. (Scheme 215) Remove windage tray.
- Remove the oil filter adaptor. (Scheme 216) Clean all components and sealing surfaces.
Installation
- Install the windage tray and the 8 mounting bolts. (Scheme 215) Tighten windage tray bolts to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-160932-S33203884602004030900000).
- Install oil filter adaptor. (Scheme 216) Tighten oil filter adaptor to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-160932-S33203884602004030900000).
- Apply a continuous bead of RTV Sealant (Loctite 5699) 3 mm diameter, around the bedplate flange or around the oil pan body flange. Apply a continuous bead of RTV Sealant (Loctite 5699) 2 mm diameter, around the oil pick-up pipe and the diverter valve flanges. (Scheme 217)
- Align and install the upper oil pan to the bedplate without smearing the sealant and start the threads of each of the 16 upper oil pan bolts. (Scheme 214) Tighten the upper oil pan bolts to specification and in proper sequence. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-160932-S33203884602004030900000). (Scheme 218)
- If equipped, install the oil diverter valve. Lubricate and install a NEW "O" ring seal on the diverter valve. Install the diverter valve into the upper oil pan. (Scheme 213) Tighten oil diverter valve bolts to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-160932-S33203884602004030900000).
- Lubricate and install a NEW "O" ring on the pick-up. Install the oil pick-up to the upper oil pan. (Scheme 212) Tighten oil pick-up bolts to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-160932-S33203884602004030900000).
- Install a NEW lower oil pan gasket to the cylinder block adaptor body by inserting the seal into the locating positions in the groove, working around from a corner. Press in the remainder of the seal, following the same procedure. see scheme 204
- Align and install the lower oil pan, installing but not tightening all 18 bolts. see scheme 203
- Tighten the lower oil pan bolts to specification and in the proper sequence. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-160932-S33203884602004030900000). (Scheme 205)
- Using a NEW sealing washer, install the engine oil drain plug and tighten to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-160932-S33203884602004030900000).
- Install the oil pressure switch. (Scheme 209) Tighten oil pressure switch to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-160932-S33203884602004030900000). Connect the oil pressure switch connector.
- Install a NEW oil filter. Lubricate a NEW oil filter "O" ring with clean engine oil and install oil filter. (Scheme 209) Using the oil filter installer/remover, tighten to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-160932-S33203884602004030900000).
- Install the CKP sensor and bolt to the flywheel housing. see scheme 143 Tighten the CKP sensor bolt to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-160932-S33203884602004030900000).
- Install the downpipe catalytic converter mounting brackets bolts (both sides) to the upper oil pan. see scheme 24 Tighten downpipe catalytic converter bracket mounting bolts and tighten to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-160932-S33203884602004030900000).
- Install the A/C compressor onto the lower dowel and install the lower A/C compressor mounting bolts. (Scheme 211) Tighten the upper and lower A/C mounting bolts to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-160932-S33203884602004030900000).
- Install the transmission cooler line with clamping bracket into position. (Scheme 210) Install transmission cooling line bracket bolts and tighten to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-160932-S33203884602004030900000).
- If equipped, with oil cooler lines, remove the plugs from the oil cooler lines and fittings on the engine. Install NEW "O" rings on the oil cooler lines and lubricate with clean engine oil. Install the oil cooler lines to the engine. Install the clamping plate with bolt and tighten to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-160932-S33203884602004030900000). see scheme 30
- On convertibles, install the cross brace. (Scheme 208) Install and tighten the 4 cross brace bolts to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-160932-S33203884602004030900000).
- On all models, install the generator cooling duct and 2 cooling duct bolts. (Scheme 207)
- Using NEW plastic rivets, install the lower body panel. Install lower body panel screws. (Scheme 206)
- Install front wheels and tighten lug to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-160932-S33203884602004030900000).
- Install timing chain cover. For non-supercharged models, see «TIMING CHAIN COVER (NON-SUPERCHARGED)»(ref-160932-S14351704192004030900000). For supercharged models, see «TIMING CHAIN COVER (SUPERCHARGED)»(ref-160932-S31665250062004031500000).

- Remove "B" bank timing chain. For non-supercharged models, see «PRIMARY TIMING CHAINS (NON-SUPERCHARGED)»(ref-160932-S40329854042004030900000). For supercharged models, see «PRIMARY TIMING CHAINS (SUPERCHARGED)»(ref-160932-S03061140572004031600000). On all models, remove timing chain sprockets from crankshaft.
- Remove the 4 oil pump bolts and remove the oil pump from the engine. see scheme 219 Remove and discard the oil pump gasket. Clean and inspect all components and mating faces.
- Using a NEW oil pump gasket, install the oil pump onto the front of the crankshaft. see scheme 219 Ensure that the drive flats on the inside of the pump gear engage correctly with the mating flats on the crankshaft. Install the 4 oil pump bolts and tighten to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-160932-S33203884602004030900000).
- Install timing chain sprockets onto crankshaft. The teeth of the "A" bank and the "B" bank timing chain sprockets on the crankshaft must be out of phase with each other. If they are in phase after installing, remove the sprocket, turn it on its vertical axis and reinstall sprocket. Install "B" bank timing chain.
