Automatic A/c-Heater Systems: Removal & Installation Jaguar XKR I

Removal & Installation

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Discharge A/C system, using approved refrigerant recovery/recycling equipment. Remove drive belt.
  2. Using a hose clamp, clamp reservoir-to-power steering pump hose. Raise and secure vehicle. Place drain pan below power steering pump. Remove steering rack hose from power steering pump. Plug holes in pump.
  3. Disconnect clutch plug. Remove securing line bolts and compressor lines. Remove compressor securing bolts and compressor. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten all bolts to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-12062-S17757931382000120700000) .
  1. Turn ignition on. Move front seats rearward fully. Remove 2 seat forward securing bolts for each seat. Move seats forward fully. Remove 2 seat rearward securing bolts for each seat. Disconnect electrical connectors and remove seats.
  2. Disable air bag system. See AIR BAG SYSTEM SAFETY article in GENERAL SERVING. Disconnect negative battery cable. Discharge A/C system, using approved refrigerant recovery/recycling equipment. Drain engine coolant.
  3. Open glove box and remove 4 screws securing glove box liner. Remove glove box liner. Remove glove box door screws. Disconnect glove box light connector and remove glove box door.
  4. Remove screws securing undercover to instrument panel. Remove undercover upper clips and position aside. Disconnect valet switch and MIA connectors.
  5. Remove stowage compartment screws and remove compartment door. Using a small pick, release tabs securing valet switch and remove switch.
  6. Remove nuts securing MIA bracket and remove MIA. Release MIA vent tabs and remove vent from undercover. Remove undercover.
  7. Using a flat-blade screwdriver covered with tape, remove shifter "J" gate cover. Disconnect electrical connector. Remove center console end trim cover and remove securing bolts. Remove center console forward securing bolts. Disconnect electrical connectors, and remove center console.
  8. Remove 6 screws securing radio console. Slide console out and disconnect electrical connectors. Remove driver's air bag and disconnect connector.
  9. Remove steering wheel. Remove steering column upper and lower covers. Remove both door tread plates and kick plates. Disconnect 3 electrical connectors and ground wires on driver's side kick panel. Remove 2 bolts above electrical connectors securing instrument panel.
  10. Disconnect 7 steering column electrical connectors. Remove foot light mounting bracket. Remove 2 upper steering column mounting bracket nuts and lower steering column.
  11. Disconnect 5 electrical connectors and ground wires on passenger's side kick panel. Remove fuse panel cover. Remove nut and power cable to fuse panel and secure aside. Remove 2 bolts securing instrument panel on passenger's side kick panel.
  12. Remove instrument panel speakers and disconnect connector. Carefully pry solar sensor from instrument panel and disconnect connector. Remove 3 upper instrument panel screws.
  13. Disconnect all electrical connectors above center console on instrument panel. Disconnect rubber straps securing wiring harness to floorboard. Remove shift selector and cable and secure aside.
  14. Remove straps securing wiring harnesses on both sides of transmission hump. From inside glove box opening, remove 2 bolts securing instrument panel to bulkhead.
  15. Remove clips securing carpet to floorboard. Pull carpet back on each side and secure aside. Disconnect parking brake switch connector. Remove ground cables secured to floorboard.
  16. Coil wiring harnesses and attach to instrument panel. Remove instrument panel from vehicle.
  17. From engine compartment, remove bolts securing A/C lines to firewall and disconnect lines. Plug lines and evaporator tubes. Disconnect heater hoses from heater core tubes and plug hoses and tubes.
  18. Remove right and left side blower motor ducting. Disconnect heater/evaporator unit electrical connector. Disconnect A/CCM connectors. Disconnect condensation drain tubes.
  19. Remove evaporator tube support bracket bolt. Remove 3 nuts securing heater/evaporator unit to bulkhead. Carefully remove heater/evaporator unit from vehicle ensuring not to damage heater core tubes.
  20. Remove A/CCM from heater/evaporator unit. Remove screws securing evaporator tube seal plate and push aside. Disconnect heater temperature sensor connector.
  21. Remove screws securing servo motor, and remove motor from heater/evaporator unit. Disconnect evaporator temperature sensor connector. Remove clips securing heater/evaporator unit upper case-to-lower case and remove upper case. Remove evaporator from case and remove temperature sensor from evaporator.
  22. To install, reverse removal procedure. If installing a new evaporator, fill evaporator with 1.35 ounces of refrigerant oil. Tighten all bolts and nuts to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-12062-S26442815402000120700000) .
  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Discharge A/C system, using approved refrigerant recovery/recycling equipment.
  2. Remove bolts securing lines to receiver-drier. Disconnect lines from receiver-drier and discard "O" rings. Remove receiver-drier mounting bracket bolts and remove receiver-drier.
  3. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten bolts to specifications. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-12062-S17757931382000120700000) .
